you mean sort of like the bible? oh wait that one was written (and edited) by committee. I was fairly bored with the book actually, its not a bad 'who done it' , but its really pretty derivative of Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose and Foucault's Pendulum but if it makes anyone question some of their basic religious assumptions its probably a good thing... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

simply because the wave of fashion make something popular does not mean those who catch it dont feel the real meaning... get over yourself and understand there is far more to music than that of the moment, yet every wave is unto itself and some are newly born and so more exciting as they catch the boards you live on in the now..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Tool Reflection I find that I can see a light at the end down Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole. Defeated I Concede and move closer. I may find comfort here I may find peace within the emptiness. How pitiful. It's calling me. And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping. The moon tells me a secret. My confidant. As full and bright as I am, this light is not my own A million light reflections pass over me It's source is bright and endless. She resuscitates the hopeless Without her we are lifeless satellites dreaming dreams. And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt Don't want to be down here feeding my narcissism I must crucify the ego before it's far too late I pray the light lifts me out before I pine away. before I pine away. So crucify the ego before it's far too late To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical And you will come to find that we are all one mind Just let the light touch you and let the words spill thorough Just let them pass right through, bringing out our hope and reason. before I pine away. actually that album seems to be my sound track for a while now..... Lateralus Black then white are all i see in my infancy. red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. lets me see. as below, so above and beyond, I imagine drawn beyond the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend. Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines. Black then white are all i see in my infancy. red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me. lets me see there is so much more and beckons me to look thru to these infinite possibilities. as below, so above and beyond, I imagine drawn outside the lines of reason. Push the envelope. Watch it bend. over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind. Withering my intuition leaving opportunities behind. Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line. Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come. I embrace my desire to I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected enough to step aside and weep like a widow to feel inspired to fathom the power, to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain, to swing on the spiral to swing on the spiral to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human. With my feet upon the ground I move myeslf between the sounds and open wide to suck it in. I feel it move across my skin. I'm reaching up and reaching out. I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me. what ever will bewilder me. And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been. We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. Spiral out. Keep going. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

honestly i dont know, we need to know the top end to be able to define that. 200 injuries and 30 fatalities out of 30,000 possible incidents is nothing. Where as 200 and 30 out of 3000 is much more significant and warrants more attention, but i cannot sanction any measure that relies on the "if it saves one life its worth it" argument.... i sincerely wish we had real numbers, but for a number of complex and varied reasons, many having to do with legal liability, we do not and yet you are proposing a system that could very easily set every instructor who is willing to sign someone off 'ahead of the curve' up for further liability??? how many CI's could potentially become 'unreasonable' once the first expensive lawsuit is filed? how many jumpers would then 'shop around' until they found someone who would sign them off??? how then would things be different? the availability of the canopy course is a significant. which those who want to learn will take because it is there and available and encouraged by their AFFIs without making it a requirement... some people will not cannot learn until they are hurt. It is unfair to punish (by unnecessary restriction) the (likely majority) who can and do learn without draconian measures for the sake of those handful who will not. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

honestly i applaud your efforts, but what basis do you really have for saying this? how many people have (and are) successfully downsizing and learning to fly their canopies 'ahead of the numbers'? granted the current injury rate is certainly ugly but we still have no real indication of the successful end of the scale and you are still proposing adding unnecessary (for those who succeed) restrictions, testing and hoops to jump thru for the sake of a handful who fail? to define a problem you need to look at the entire scope, not just the low end.... education, not regulation. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

What do you tell people that say Skydiving isnt a sport?
Zenister replied to Conundrum's topic in The Bonfire
exactly why golf is a game and not a sport.... Whoa there. You go out, out of shape (like I was), smoking upwards of 2 packs of smokes a day (like I was), and WALK 36 holes on Sat, 36 holes on Sun, and at least 3 18 hole rounds during the week (like I did before I found skydiving), and tell me it's a game. Then show me how the exact placement of your hands, legs, hips, and elbows directly effects your swing. When you do it every day for for most of your life, you get pretty damn good at it. Then you approach the 9th green, a sure skins match worth over $500 in your grasp, and shank it over the green. Feel that stress of losing that much cash on a physical fuck up (kinda like funneling a 4 or 8 way at Nationals, huh) and tell me it's a game. I love skydiving, but damn it, Golf IS a sport! i've lost far more than that playing poker but its still a game... now night speed golf could be considered a sport. 3 balls (lose them and your out) 3 clubs (any you wish) time in min is added to your score.. tee off and start running before the ball hits the ground.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
