It is like rolling dice...you never know how they will fall. A movie presenting ALL of the subjects would be very boring and will not happen plus the legal aspects of potential law suits. Robert stated: Jo is ADAMANT: READ Robert READ! What did I say in my post. You are supposed to be smart - aren't you? Yet YOU tell me I need to take an objective Look at things. You Robert - obviously are not reading the posts! I assure you a comedy will point at NOT one suspect...same as the thread and the book. Remember what Grey did in his last chapter - He Crawls in his Rabbit Hole and sets up the Tomatoe Cans! I laughed my head off with that last chapter and I knew he described me in the manner he did to protect me or in his opinion I am just a hick who lives in a redneck area.

D. B. Cooper's actual name has never appeared on this thread and never will until his bones are located. You can take that statement to the bank. Personally, I don't remember ever seeing a single post from Cook on this thread unless he has done so through a ringer. Gossett has reportedly been checked out by the FBI and was in Nepal at the time of the hijacking. Gossett has reportedly had a very eventful life but no one has come up with a single thing to suggest that he is D. B. Cooper. The principal advocate for Gossett as Cooper apparently is a Seattle area resident that claims Gossett stiffed his family out of ten bucks or so back in the 1950/1960 era when he didn't pay the monthly rent for a basement room that he was renting from them. To summarize, anyone who advances a name on this thread claiming that person is Cooper is full of it. That includes our dearly beloved Jo Weber, who may or may not know what she is talking about, Bob Knoss, who definitely does NOT know what he is talking about, and lesser luminaries. Finally, there is no evidence whatsoever to even suggest that Cooper survived the parachute jump. In all probability, Cooper was on the ground and dead within 60 seconds of leaving the airliner.

Come on Robert99!!!...it was Petey that was in Nepal... even I know that...!!! And...my dad was Cooper......he actually jumped from planes and killed people... Trained and paid by the US army... I have proof and it didn't go poof... hangdiver I'll concede the point. Was Gossett the fat guy with the hairy arms who was on Army active duty the night of the hijacking? Or was that Ken Christianson hiding out in a trailer that night with Barb Dayton (was that before or after the reassignment surgery?) somewhere on the west side of the Cascades? I can't keep the "most favored" suspects straight.

define "in all probability" ! Here is the full citation from page 207 of the 2003 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary of Idioms by Christine Ammer: "IN ALL PROBABILITY Also, in all likelihood. Most likely, almost certainly. For example, In all probability we'll be home for Christmas. This expression was first recorded in 1617, the variant in 1664."

Posters have changed over the yrs and the 'Theories' and explorations are multiple - YOU WILL HAVE TO READ. There was another thread, but it crashed and Quade (the moderator) created this one. It is in history and trivia because I begged him to not put in the other categories as they only attracted individual seeking intertainment and usually very young people. I came here to talk to jumpers from the old days and that is how this thread came to be. Other poster on the forum were NOT happy this thread was in History and Trivia, but obviously they have come to accept it. If we TRY to even repeat any portion of this story - with the change-over of posters you just would NOT get it and different posters are slanted in different directions. Yes, it would make a good movie, but it seems to be a hands off thing regarding anyone making anything other than a comedy. Why? I don't know....perhaps because it is still unsolved and a slant toward any one suspect would and could be contrive to change public opionion....no producer wants to spend millions making a movie and just before it comes out - an entirely different subject has been declared to be Cooper. It is like rolling dice...you never know how they will fall. A movie presenting ALL of the subjects would be very boring and will not happen plus the legal aspects of potential law suits. Jo, You need to back way off and take a very objective look at all things Cooper. At this point in time, a comedy is the only thing that will work. Have you heard the latest on how the CBS Cooper comedy is coming along?

All the movies on Cooper are baloney. Only one or two of the Cooper books in print are worth even a partial reading. None of the Cooper books that are in preparation will be worth buying since they will just contain new fabrications on the subject in order to try to sell the books. Probably not 10 people on this Cooper thread could tell you correctly which end of an airplane takes off first. Did I count anyone twice? So keep your expectations low and you will not be disappointed.

Knoss, If you have ever told the truth on this thread, please cite the post number. And no, I'm not kidding.

Vicky - I never heard that it was official the money was bundled in various counts - IT was totally unnessesary to make the money appear to have been gathered randomly. The money could have been packed in random sizes as to accommodate the demands of a ransom - but NOT to make it appear hastily gathered. These are the very things that cause me to doubt many of the things the FBI agent reported on this thread. Jo, The whole idea was to get the hijacker to start passing the money so that he would leave a trail. If he knew the money was "marked", or recorded by microfilm or other means in this case, the hijacker would have been much more careful about when and where he tried to pass some of it. Or to put it another way, if the money appeared to be packaged specifically to fulfill the demands of the hijacker, he would think he was in control of the situation and running the show. If the money was packaged in neat bundles straight from the US mint and with the serial numbers in consecutive order, the hijacker would know he was being set up by the FBI and headed for a big time bust.

Robert! You are really NOT up on Cooper. That is an old movie about Cooper - it is crazy. It is wild. I have only see some promotion clips but, that was enough for me. Jo, I just Googled the movie and it was released in August 2004. So it is less than eight years old. Still, I had never heard of it until yesterday. Apparently I am not up to being a True Cooper Believer. Or maybe I just had a Golden Moment in 2004. In fact, I was really busy in the 2004 election year and motion pictures were the last thing I was thinking about. But to maintain consistency, I will still ignore it if it ever appears on cable some stormy night. Anyway, I've got better things to do such as watch the grass grow, the paint dry, and the traffic lights change.

The weirdness factor is more than adequate for this thread. But "Without a Paddle"? Never heard of it. Obviously I am no where near the cutting edge of contemporary show business.

Apparently not enough. That's based on the number of nuts still on the loose here. Amazon, I think the shrinks have now moved over to CBS.

If they intend to represent this as a comedy - they better know this story is about REAL people with a large portion of their lives involved. They will have a BIG problem on their hands. The individuals Grey interviewed are REAL LIVING individuals and if they intend to do this as a Comedy - they better think TWICE. Are they going to audition all of the 922, or whatever the current number is, of the people who claimed to be Cooper? If so, the competition for the three roles should be intense. Is an "action-comedy" vehicle the way to go? I suggest these people film it in Bob Knoss' nut house and star in it themselves. In any event, I predict that Marla will be involved. Blevins, is Gray's book actually a bestseller or is this just PR baloney?

NO Book! Public records will do that for me. Something I told the FBI to look at 17 yrs ago, but was ignored. The answers were there all along - in writing. Yet, they spent 100's of thousands to investigate DL Cooper. Future News Article will read something like this: Cooper Case Solved Jo, Are you going to take the Marla route? To answer your PM of earlier this evening, I have not lived in WA recently but did about the end of WW2 when I was a wee lad.
-
Jo, When will YOUR book be out? Or are you just going to ask a judge to rule that you are the one and only, original Mrs. D. B. Cooper?

Really Bruce. ? " Along with DNA and the abovementioned dynamics of inquiry, other forensic tools are coming into play, especially remote viewing – one of the primary tool of the military’s psychic spying program, such as their Stargate Program – making the DB Cooper investigation truly resurgent." Give us an example of where and by who, remote viewing, is being used as a tool of science, in the DB Cooper case? Inquiring astral projectoristas and other hombres wanna know! Where on the Electromagnet Spectrum is remote viewing to be found as a 'forensic tool', or, 'forensic fool'? Well, at least you're not asking about forensic drool! But your question is a valid one, G, and I need to inquire more deeply into the remote viewing world as to whether anyone is looking at Nov 24, 1971. As of this moment, the only remote viewing efforts in the DB C case that I know of are my own and they are suspect, frankly. BTW: I believe the preferred term is "Astral Projectionistas." Thank heaven this thread is sticking to science and not turning into another UFO forum!

Thanks for the info, Shutter...but I already found out (belatedly) that the military pictures sent by the Christiansen family are NOT of Kenny, but his father. They are World War One vintage. The pictures, a group of a dozen, came to me in the mail from Lyle Christiansen's address without any enclosed letter, or any captions. I just figured they were more pics of Kenny, just like all the others they've sent over the past three years or so. I had to email a couple of Christiansen family members in Minnesota to find out what the heck they actually WERE. I also asked them not to send any more pictures to my office without an accompanying letter detailing WHAT the pictures represent. Or at least caption them on the back or something. I keep examining the NWA photo. It sure looks like Kenny to me. But what in the heck is he doing wearing those pilots' wings on his hat. I did some research on NWA insignia, and they don't really look like the wings NWA issued to pursers. I don't know...maybe Kenny borrowed the damn hat from the guy next to him. Who knows? Maybe I'm wrong about the wings and they ARE purser wings. Whatever... If you want to see what "pilots wings" look like, take a peek at what is on Rataczak's coat (left breast). Also, take a look at the stripes on KC's shoulders. One big one and one small one per side. To me, that means that KC was a purser and a senior purser (or management purser or international purser, take you pick). But a step above a standard purser. The wings on KC's cap are not "pilots wings". They are just wings - period. In that era, the stews on some lines wore wings and on other lines they wore "half wings". Just about every airline employee wore wings of some kind.

The Lt. Val Browning mentioned in your first attachment was the son of the designer of the Browning M1917 machine gun. A number of different models of this machine gun were produced over the years and the gun was reportedly still in use by some countries even after the end of the Vietnam war. An air-cooled version of this machine gun was also manufactured. And I probably at least fired this particular gun for familiarization during my time in the military. But in a fixed position, I would prefer a heavily sand-bagged 50 caliber machine gun. With the brackets holding the barrel in a fixed position installed, and firing one round at a time, you could almost put one round through the same hole in the target as the previous round at a distance of 50 yards or so. That gun was accurate. The clothing in those pictures is ancient and the riding breeches could go back to the Spanish-American War. The "tin" helmets were definitely WW1 types but I don't know when they were introduced or dis-continued. The winter clothing is also definitely WW1.

TIGHAR has an excellent web page on AE, perhaps the best web page I have ever seen on any subject. However, there is nothing in that web page that I can find to support Ric Gillespie's theory that AE ended up on Gardner Island (which is about 400 miles, or another three hours flying time, southeast of Howland Island). Everything that AE did on that last morning indicated that she and Fred Noonan thought they were in the immediate vicinity of Howland Island and were trying to find it. Nothing was said about going anywhere else. And, in fact, they didn't have enough fuel to go anywhere else. Even if they did head for Gardner Island or anyplace else, they would still in all probability have to fly a search pattern to locate their new destination. Aircraft celestial navigation was only accurate to about a 10 mile radius. For a discussion of the aircraft celestial navigation aspects of the AE flight, see the work done by Gary LaPook who has been described as the best authority on aircraft celestial navigation now living. He has a web page which can be located by searching for his name on Google.

and so I post my original photo again! with add ons. Blevins can take credit for the ID if he wants. How do you know its Rataczak? Tosaw's book? Does Tosaw talk about Blevins posting his photo? Or show the same in his book? Same piece of Blevins photo in Tosaw's book? The label clearly says "F.O." in any event. I would assume that means Fugus Orgit, or maybe Flight Officer? Maybe "oh fudge" backwards? Does Tosaw comment that, in his book? Is it in RH's book too? Back to Blev's original thesis. IS THIS KC IN THE PHOTO - YES OR NO! A PHOTO SHOWING BOTH RATACZAK AND KENNY? How old was Kenny vs Rat at this time? Any idea who the other guy is? I was referring to the three photos in the "comparison2.gif" (112kb) attachment to Blevins post number 34446 which is the one I responded to.
-
Rataczak is the fellow on the right with the circular insignia on his hat. Compare with Rataczak's picture on page 47 of Tosaw's book. In the old days, flight attendants also wore wings and the purser would probably have one strip on his/her(?) company jacket.

Uh, yes it does. And it's a US Army ammo box. (We don't keep ammo boxes around the office.) I'll admit it helps when you have the TIFF original to work with, and the imaging software we do around here. You're not going to be able to examine or blow up these photos effectively using

I agree. But this does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_9th_Company Maybe Blevins can explain the time line for when the American Airborne outfits transitioned from a letter, or phonetic, for company designation...such as "Foxtrot Company" to a number designation, like "9th Company". I'm sure Matt can chime in and tell us when the 101st Airborne changed over. I can tell you it didn't happen during my time in the 82nd Airborne. I can't imagine the Americans wanting to copy the Russians. Guru312 is correct. As everyone who has watched the TV show on "Easy Company" knows, the company designations in the Army during WW2 were alphabetical starting with the first letter of the alphabet and only using the first five or six letters. Thus, A was "Alpha", B was "Baker", C was "Charlie", etc. using the phonetic alphabet. The paratroopers would NEVER have been using a heavy water cooled machine gun such as the one in the picture. In fact, everything in those first two pictures could have been in use prior to World War 1.
-
Blevins, I hope you didn't pay good money for the pictures of KC's "paratrooper training". Those two pictures don't have anything to do with paratrooper training. In fact, based on the uniforms and equipment, both pictures were probably made prior to 1935, repeat 1935, and not 1945. Those fellows look like they were getting ready to go chase Pancho Villa. Paratrooper training is only about three weeks long and concentrates on parachutes and related equipment and not weapons training. Weapons training is conducted elsewhere and prior to and after jump school. Physical conditioning is conducted throughout the training. But in my day, people who wanted to go to jump school had to pass a physical conditioning test before they would even be considered.
