  1. Reverse PLF? Head first? Depending on the altitude i would perhaps fly it just for fun but i would chop it and land with the reserve. If i would by any reason fly a canopy that would give me less than 1 WL and the wind would make a slow landing, i could perhaps think about it. But i dont think i would do it anyway, way too high risk for nothing
  2. Im not sure how you can see the nose of the canopy when you are baging it, but i think you are doing something wrong But yes it does make the packjob a bit looser by the Slider/warninglabel. But as long as the slider is at the stops it shouldnt make much difference. And as in this case, a saber2, a "hard opening" would be 1500 feet snivel
  3. Yes, i belive you must have a door on the plane today
  4. I usually place my right knee/leg where the warninglabel is. If you dont move to much it should keep things where they should be.
  5. Dont be such a wuss, freepack it! Just make sure you get it on video No seriously, dont. But have you tried the reverse S-fold? You only bag about half of the canopy at first and then you "jam" down the rest. You make the last part of the S-fold and bag it, then you make the first S-fold where the slider is and squeeze that in the bag. It usually easier, especially on bigger canopies or for those with smal hands
  6. At our DZ a FJC is about 14 hours plus theoretical test and EP test in a harness. And some last minute reversal just before boarding the plane. And i know there are other DZ that have longer FJC. Im rather suprised 6 hours was the highest in the poll.
  7. Im not sure which is most impressive That you could see his undies or that he can pull that fast when doing a diveexit
  8. Im not very keen on ducttaping a camera to my head. I think it would be rather painful pulling it of after every jump when the 4-way you videod wants to look at the video. Just having it in the ear like a handsfree will not work, and you must jump without helmet.
  9. Not for me. I know it was not the smartest move, and knowing what i know today i would not do it again with that canopy. But with since the question is with your choice of rigs for the given conditions (i belive he means gear not rigs?), i would do it again but not with the gear i did this jump with. I bet someone really smart is going to say, so what do you think you will say next time this question is asked?
  10. Better performance means easier landings. And if you one day need to be on half brakes to avoid hitting something you have more flare in the canopy.
  11. As Bill said earlier, you dont have any vertical speed. So why would it take 500 feet (vertical) to open the canopy? You are correct in the way that you will travel a distance while the canopy is opening, but thats mostly horisontal distance. The vertical distance will probably not be more than 60ish feet unless you give it some freefall.
  12. Hey! Why would you force us to do a H&P? Such a waste! From 2000 you could probably get atleast 3 points and still beat the AAD
  13. So how much shorter does the lines need to be for you to stall it? You can grab the lines higher up or wrap them around your hands and try to flare. I would recomend that you shorten them as it will probably make it easier to flare the canopy, but its also associated with a risk as you might understand so talk to your rigger or instructor about it.
  14. I have got a Pm reply from them now. Are you talking about the Total freefall time in jumptrack? There is a calculator on the same row click on that. But before you do that, make a copy of the mdb file, it has happend to me that it added a few hours when doing that.
  15. Can you stall the canopy? If not, how much more is needed before you can?
  16. Sorry dude, still not working for me. I get the error message "Input string was not in a correct format"
  17. I guess i have to do that.
  18. Everyone here says L & B is great and all that but im just wondering how long did it take before you got a reply from them? Its been 2 weeks and still no reply on my mail.
  19. I cant get it to work. The program starts but i cant add the jumps. Nothing happens when i drag and drop the files.
  20. Ok, I updated the Add-in, and its a bit more complex now. There is still three things the user has to do manually. 1. Find where the freefall starts and ends, and delete the rows above and below. 2. When you deleted the rows as explained above type "0" in K3. 3. Save the workbook as a xls or xlsx-file. The Velocitys, Altitudes and Distances will be converted to what you choose (only need to choose once, it will save your setting). 4 Charts are created. 5 columns are added. velH, vel3D, Glide, hDistance and Angle of flight. Numberformat is set to "0" (no decimals) except on glide (0.000), to make it easier to read. IMPORTANT This macro will create a csv-file with the settings you choose. The file will be created in the folder C:\Flysight\ and will be named FlysightExcelSettings.csv. If you want to change the settings on the macro just delete the file and open a FlySight GPS CSV-file. Just as i said in my previous post i can not take responsibillity for damages to your system becasue i dont know how your computer is set up. But if your computer/MS Excel is "standard" everything will be fine. Installation Excel 2007 1. Download file. (Flysight.xlam) 2. Place file in your AddIns folder. C:\Users\ \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns 3. Open Excel 4. Click on the Excel "main button" in top left corner and choose |Excel options|. 5. Click on Add-Ins on the left. 6. At the bottom of the window it says Manage |Go|, choose Excel Add-Ins and press Go. 7. A window with avalible Add-Ins should pop up, mark Flysight and press |Ok|. 8. Close Excel and open a Flysight CSV file. Below i attached the xlam file, the file that does the job and a samplefile. The samplefile is the file that is on Flysight webpage. Please note that the samplefile on the webpage is named sample.csv, files that are created on the GPS is named .CSV with capital letters on CSV. The xlam-file is set to only run on CSV-files, not csv.
  21. Why not? Are you saying are allowd to pack to yourself in Bosnia, but not to others as student? That does not make any sens, why would you pack differently in either case? Either you are allowd to pack or not
  22. If im not mistaking, thats a Canon 70-200, and thats not enough. This image was taken with a Canon 20D camera, a 2x extender and a 100-400 mm lens (at 400 mm). This setup gives me 1280 mm equivalent. And the altitude is ~1500 meters. The image is ~4 MB. http://www.hellis.me/IMG_8576.JPG
  23. Íf you do make this software, please make it turn itself off at ~150 feet. Below that you dont need any instructions, i know from own experience that you can get too focused on landing close to the center that you realise you are already on half brakes when its time to flare. You dont want the voice telling you to make a 180 turn at 100 feet because you are going to overshoot the target.
  24. I actually had an idea of creating something like that but i scrapped the idea out of safety. Flying your canopy is dangerous enough, having a GPS-guided missile under canopy at low altitude is probably worse. I had the idea of making it as a help for new jumpers (off student but still not good) to get better accuracy in the landing. Basicly you create a waypoint on ground and mark it with a carpet or something and then have the GPS tell you how to get there. When the jumper is in the air and beeing "controled" he/she can see where he WILL land and hopefully learn something. Windspeed and direction can be calculated during flight, you dont need to set it in advance. You just tell the jumper "face the wind and stab the brakes", this stabing the brakes will show up in the speeds and the GPS can record speed and direction. Tell the jumper to do 180 turn and record a downwind speed. But as i said i dont think its safe to have someone in the air thats beeing told to turn left now without looking. I would love to see it working and it could make new jumpers and demo jumps safer, but i dont know if we really want someone to be GPS controled if there are other canopies in the air.
