  1. No, i used a pull-up cord to close it, as you can see the loop ends about in the middle of the canopy. But yes the question was if it could be jumped as on the picture but with a longer closing loop. If i could close the flaps i would I could perhaps make it a litle better by placing more of the canopy higher up which would help the lower flap. And there was litle space left at the bottom of the container. But i dont think any of it will make that much better that i would want to try it. As i wrote earlier, i will use a different rig.
  2. So instead of having a wire going from the outside of the helmet and in to your ear, you want a wire going from your ear to the outside of the helmet. OK. I can guess that it will be harder to tell a difference from the different tones the Flysight makes if you have to mix it with outide windnoise. Using those noisecanceling earbuds works real good at blocking wind.
  3. GPS more or less needs free view of the sky to work properly. Yes it can be used inside the helmet, but you also parially block the signals. I prefer the way it is.
  4. Yes its a FLiK 266. I think i can borrow a student rig. Or just a large rig from some other jumper. The rig on the picture is a Javelin sized for a 150, so i guess a 190+ would make it safer or at least much better. Hmm. Direct bag, could work but i dont know. The plane that will be used is either a C182 or a C207. The 182 is not ideal as i would have to walk out on the wheel when someone holds the bag. The 207, i have not jumped it yet, but doesnt that plane have a low stabilizer? That and a rear cargo door. I think i will find a rig i can borrow or rent. I was just wondering because if i should use my own rig i would have to buy minirisers. Thanks for all the help
  5. Thats what i was thinking too. It feels "stiff" but when you open the door or get close to the door the wind might get hold of it. Sorry John i dont understand your question or statement.
  6. Ok, first off: im serious. I have no intention of freeflying it anything like that, just a few hop n pops. Would you think this looks unsafe for a hop n pop? I know the riser are not connected to the harness and the packing clamp and so on. But with a longer loop, what do you think?
  7. You need to know when you had enough. Its not a gift that people are born with, but if you stop drinking when everything is funny you will be alright.
  8. I used to have a videofile from a driftcamera but i think i deleted it, but i was impressed with the quality of the video. Looking at the uploaded videos at youtube is useless as youtube compress the videos and makes them look horrible. If anyone has a videofile i can donate some space on my server to host the file. One thing that is a bit annoying with the Contour is when you use Sony Vegas to render the videos there is a problem with sync. Its like Vegas skips the first 0.5 seconds of the video but keeps the audio. So you get audio that is about 0.5 seconds ahead of the video, its easy to fix and its not that often you use the audio when you are rendering skydivevideos anyway.
  9. To some degree i agree with you. But with that kind of thinking nobody should ever have to cut away as a vast majority of malfunctions are packing related. Everyone can make mistakes.
  10. There is. Not a skydive however. Wingsuit gardening
  11. They are at the bottom on both BJ.com and RC.com. And yes i would love to have them at the bottom. When you have read the last post you can just click on the link 'right there' instead of having to scroll all the way up to get the link.
  12. Even if i think its a good idea to keep the reminder, your "reminder" might damage your risers in the long run. If you keep geting riserslaps on the reminder, the sharper corners (compared to the helmet) of the reminder might fray the risers. It will probably take hundreds of jumps, but still very unnecessary.
  13. Chincup, no. Cutaway, yes. Why would you think anything else? No camera is small enough to not be a snag hazard. But am i reading right? Are you going to sidemount a GoPro? Bye bye camera
  14. Yes, some of them get bent over time. And i guess that will make it weaker. But i use the same method of attachment for my camera, and as long as the camera stays on, im not to worried about the GPS.
  15. 3M dual lock velcro on the back of my helmet, then i use my headphones from my old cellphones which has perfect lenght for going under the helmet. Then i use a smal piece of tape on the cord just to stop if from flapping in the wind. http://www.andybaird.com/travels/gertie/superlock.htm
  16. I was suprised there was no female names in the credits
  17. And thats when it started. Get a smaler canopy or wider lens? Smaler canopy
  18. Thats the problem i have. Without my glasses i still get perfect score on a eye test, but it makes me feel taler. When i was a student i had to jump without glasses because i couldnt get the googles to and glasses to work well. My landings where very consistent, but never good
  19. I also have those magnets on my jumpsuit, and yes they are strong when they are very close to eachother. But just adding a few millimeters in between and you lose much of their strenght. Pulling these magnets straight away from eachother is hard, but if you try having two pices of cloth in between your magnets you will notice that you can easily 'bend' them away quite easily.
  20. Probably never. I have personally witnessed two different UPT rigs with magnetic riser covers have the toggles come out in a head down position. It's probably worthy to mention I've never seen it happen otherwise however in my limited experience this could just be a fluke. One rig it happened 3 times within a few months of being new and required a cut away two times. He sent the rig back for "repairs" and is now testing. So far so good. The other rig is now being used for RW only. He too had to cut away the wrapped up toggle. The owner will not free fly with it. He happens to be the UPT dealer and DZO. I have an Infinity that has not come open yet and neither has my VooDoo. I'm in the camp of "if it's not broken don't fix it". How did the toggles get out? I can understand that the risercovers open but the toggles should be much further down and tight squeezed in between the reserve and the sides of the rig. Was the canopysizes in this rig correct? Im not saying its impossible but it would perhaps be more likely to happen if you have smaler canopys than the rig is built for
  21. Wheres the video?? Here we have people wanting to jump with a GoPro on their first student jump, and this guy did not wear a camera This is just wrong
  22. Do you jump with or without the glasses?
  23. I have once seen a CHD mounted on the side as your picture. When we told him that he will probably lose, he used duct tape. And lots of it. It looked like a helmet with a sidemount duct tape ball. Can you mount a cut away on that helmet? I have made one jump with one of those helmets, and i would not rely on that buckle. I could not get the helmet of, i ended up having to pull my head out of the helmet. I dont think i would want to do that in the air when my main is trailing above me.
  24. Have you guys looked at the video? Exactly what i was thinking Spelling.
