Ok, payed my bills now. It cost me ~23 €, I have not looked if there are any cheaper options.

That question is not that stupid. If this thing called safety was not such a big deal it could probably be done. I actually think i have seen a video of it.

Cool! Better switch to english before a moderator goes wild. So you have traveld the world, impressive.

Links missing at Dropzone but not at BJ or RC
Hellis replied to Hellis's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
I really miss the links that you have on both Basejumper and Rockclimbing below the last post in each thread. If im in a thread in Basejumper i see below the last post as the screenshot, but here on DZ i dont see those links. They are very handy links. I suppose the code is just deactivated by some reason since both Rockclimbing and Basejumper has it. Could it be fixed? -
Gear setup/checks to avoid horseshoe/pc in tow
Hellis replied to t2.3aero's topic in Gear and Rigging
You think that getting ahold of your bridle is going to be any easier than finding your handle? Most of it is inside the pouch, with the PC... the rest is under flaps. Mid air rigging could get you killed, or worse, someone else. No comment. i meant a premature deployment, thanks andy. if the container is open but the pilot chute is still in the boc spandex, it might (just maybe) be possible (if not easier) to find the bridle and try to get the pilot chute out before going silver. i thought this was one of the main reasons for using the Germain method??? Try it... put your rig on, have someone pop the pin and pull the bag up, see which is easier to get to. Im willing to bet that your PC would be easier to grab than your bridle. Keep in mind that main out of the container will cause the flaps to be in a place they're not usually at during pull time. The BG method of packing the PC is so the drag of the bridle coming out will pull not cause the PC to lock in the pouch, and if the drag is enough on the bridle, it could extract the PC. I think he would have to be in a hanging harness to do that correct. When the bag is out it will most likely deploy the canopy. Im not sure you even can reach the handle if you are under canopy. I would think the handle will be higher up when the canopy is out. -
Sitting in my couch in my livingroom with lots of legroom having my big screend laptop in my lap posting this with my paid high speed 100 MBit internet. Simple pleasures, simple pleasures

Or 9'10" cubed. No, thats to easy to read

She speaks metric!! I was prepared for a million cubic inches and a silly fraction at the end. In case you thought I was exaggerating, no... It really was only 3 cubic meters. My first thought was "my handbag won't even fit in that - how do you expect me to put my whole life in it??!" No no, i think i have seen one of those. I am suprised you could get everything in there, but im glad everything worked out for you. But i was a bit off on my guess. Its only 183071 and 1/4 cubic inches. Now this thread is US-friendly

What altitude do you think is a safe altitude? At what altitude are you normally at a two out situation? Unless you have a custom made AAD or some very unlikely doubble premature deployment you are not on a safe altitude in a two out situation to mess around
-
Thats what i thought too. But the main canopy can, by local rules, not be legal to jump. At least here we have a list of main canopies that is legal to jump. In this list some (or perhaps all) BASE canopies are also listed.

I dont like the fact that you are talking about cost and not safety. As i read your post it looks like you are more concerned about the cost than safety. I understand that money is an issue, but try to think of time instead of money. If you spend more time in the sport you will learn more and the cost will be spread out over a longer time. But if money is that much of an issue, maybe a BASER rig is something for you? Its a BASEcontainer with a bellymount reserve. I have no expirience of the BASER, and my first thought is that its not a good idea for a beginner. And as i stated previously, i dont like the idea of skydiving a BASEcanopy more than whats necessary. But, your shit, your problem.
-
Yes you can use a BASE canopy for skydiving, but i would think you get a very bad habbit if you do so. In BASE, it has to work. In skydiving, its more of a "good enough mentality". Also skydiving a BASE canopy for 200+ jumps will put wear on it that you might not want when you are going to start BASE.

Without knowing which 7 cell and which 9 cell canopy you are talking about its hard to give more than just a generic answer. A Velocity is a 7 cell canopy, and so is a Spectre. Yet they dont fly the same.

Another reason to make sure that pilot chute pouch is in good condition
Hellis replied to peek's topic in Safety and Training
I pack before i leave the DZ and still dont stow the PC. I wrap the PC around the legstrap, its not like you are going to notice the 'problem' before the next jump. And it takes less than a minute to pack the PC. I guess if you dont have a gearbag it could be an issue to carry the bag with the PC packed. -
No really ... everyone should stop watching Bear Grylls Ooops, i just Bear-ed another hour, i feel the Bear-alization is almost complete. Im weak when it comes to Bear-pressure. Suddenly i feel the urge to cutaway above water with my RSL still connected.
