  1. What i have read about the ZPX. Its easier to pack than a normal ZP canopy. The "selfhealing" thing Its not that big difference in price, so why be cheap? I want to be the coolkid on the DZ
  2. I currently have a Spectre 170, and its tight but not a hugh problem to get in there. I have a plan to downsize to 150, and i think i have fallen in love with 7 cells. So i figured the next canopy should be a 7 cell also. Im worried it will be to smal for the bag/container. I have a Javelin J1KS and it holds up to 150, 150 9 cell canopy, right? A 7 cell 150 is a bit smaler, and if i would have it in ZPX would that make it too small? If i understand it correct the ZPX is 15-20% smaler. 150-20%=120 (and add that its 7 cell ) What do you think? Will it be OK or not?
  3. Very nice! Thank you for posting raw video. I think the quality looks great, much better than looking at the vimeovideo.
  4. Most likely it will have an student AAD. Nothing wrong with that as long as you keep that in mind all the time during the canopy ride. A sharp turn can activate a student AAD
  5. Yes, and thats where you can apply some anti fog
  6. Since the cookielens is one solid piece of glass i dont think it can fog inside
  7. Anti fog cloth/spray? I have no idea if it works but it should in theory work. And its not that expensive if it wont work
  8. One way that works is to connect the VHS to a DVDrecorder and record the video on a DVD (or built in harddrive). Several hours of video of me and my friends have been digitalized this way from when i was a kid.
  9. Why did he swap cables? Was it a misstake? Have you talked to the rigger about it? I would not be very happy about that situation, and im guessing the one that got your cable is not very happy either
  10. Wait wait wait. You dont make any sense here. You say you disagree because students might missplace/forget their gloves, and not because of a "real" reason? We have had student losing main handles to pullout systems, goggles, helmets, knifes, cutaway and reservehandles. But we still dont want them jumping without it We just tell the students we recomend that they use gloves, we have a few they can borrow but gloves are not that expensive so the best option is that they buy own. What i meant in my post that it does not matter what time of the year it is or how warm/cold it is, students should always use gloves. Students more often land off DZ where landings can be rougher. Landing in a field with 3 feet high "yellow stuff growing" you will have a bad landing and you will probably brace for impact with your hands. I think i have made 5 or 6 jumps without gloves and that was my first jumps. After that i landed on dirt/sand and hurt my hands, lesson learned.
  11. Nice! I recomend that you download the real video as the vimeovideo is not as high quality. Few questions, in the cutaway trashpack scene it looks like you have two riggs on? So the "inner" rigg has no canopys in it? But isnt it uncomfortable to have two legstraps on top of each other? In the swoopsection of the video, is that a Skylark Scirocco one of the swoopers is flying?
  12. I would say "All students should wear gloves". - If you are cold on your hands you might not feel the handle - Your mind will keep thinking of those cold hands when it should be thinking of saving your life. - You use the hands to steer a canopy, cold hands does not make it easier. - You use the hands to flare a canopy. - If you make a bad landing you might cut your hands. Might not be serious but it will keep you from skydivng a few days. Ok, now tell me why students should not have gloves? Is it so they can feel the handles? What happend to "Look, Grab, Look, Grab, Pull, Pull"? Are you teaching student to guess and feel their way?
  13. Read this http://www.dangerousdecibels.org/hearingloss.cfm And then your audibles manual for how loud it is. (I would guess ~110-120 dB)
  14. One feature i would like is a way to export and inport my personal info. Create a file with my name, address, phone, email, licensenumber, ICE phone and all that. And let me export it to a USBmemory. So when i visit a new DZ i dont have to spend 10 minutes of my and the manifestors time to write all that info again. I know this is more or less impossible because not all DZs have the same software, but if one standard filestructure could be made i guess its possible.
  15. Should cut the reserve loop Would be more correct
  16. Yes, you are right. Ofcourse i have to make sure my gear is in good condition on the first jump also.
  17. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3537802
  18. When i read this thread i can only think, hope this never happens to me. If i would go in because of something i did wrong i dont want my family to sue anyone (not that i think it will happen). What can i (we) do to prevent it from happening? Even if i would write it in my last will and testament it could still happen unless i make sure everyone that is not my will. Create a website where those of us who want this sport to continue even if something happens to us can write our "will"? Unless my brand new gear breaks apart on the first ever jump, i think its me that are at fault for not taking care of my equipment and know how to use it.
  19. I think you are looking at the correct place, but it seems they have locked all files on their webpage. Probably by misstake, i get the attached error when i try to access the files on thier webpage. So my guess is they wanted to raise the securitylevel by blocking all files but because of that also blocked the videos. Oopsy... Just send them a mail?
  20. why? Because reserves generally open faster than mains. They're also designed and packed to have a lower chance of malfunction than a main. That's why, in your FJC, you were taught than in an emergency exit from a plane, below a certain altitude, go directly to silver. It also would have been more likely to open on heading... which, in this case, could have cost him his life. Luck was on his side that day! Im not so sure about that. If you look at the video you can see he pulls at around 1:03, that means he should be under reserve canopy at around 1:05-1:06 and still above the rock. And the reserve would most likely be a slower canopy.
  21. I tried that yesterday, but it dont work very well with the thin risers
  22. If you can keep up with the shade. If you exit after him, you will get extra altitude
  23. I have a Javelin and have the same problem, so i stoped using the keepers. I know it could cause problems when i grab the toggles but i just look at the excess line and make sure its not entangled before i release the brakes. I have never tried it, but now that i think of it. You could perhaps use a packboy? Use the metalpart of it to "grab" the loop of the line on the other side and pull it trough.
  24. The one called Jesus on a beach is a nice picture. But it has been destroyed in photoshop, there is too much work that has been done with that picture. If it would have been a cleaner look on that picture, i could see that picture as a add in a magazine or something because its a beautiful scenery. The page has two "sides", Most votes and recently added. Does that mean the picture with the guy and the newborn whuffo is leading this contest? They could atleast have rotated the picture so its correct
  25. I believe it was 80 or 100 € but I have to ask him. I would not overstuff the mpod. In that case I would buy a bigger mpod. Look at http://www.pgasus.be/start.php?pg=text&item=mPOD and the order form at http://www.pgasus.be/mPOD_order.pdf Ok, thanks. Im not sure if a larger bag would fit my container. I guess it will have to wait untill (or if) i downsize. When i bought the gear i had a plan that i would downsize about this time of the year (and when i had made ~70 jumps on the 170) but now that im there, im not sure i want to downsize. Maybe next year.
