  1. There is video of a swooper following another guy's approach and ended up catching the turbulence, and the canopy collapsed. (IIRC it resulted in a cypres fire.) Thank you for saying thaf. I just thought about i should have written try flying behind someone elses canopy at safe altitude. I have had a few of those real shakers beeing behind other parachutes, its fun when you are used to them but scary in the begining. Thanks for the video, never seen that one
  2. A microburst is turbulent air, and they knock airplanes down. So yes, but during jumpable conditions i dont know, could happen. Try fly behing a friends canopy and your canopy might shake quite alot. I guess it all depends on when you consider it jumpable
  3. If you have a reasonable internetspeed at home and free traffic you could use a NAS. Basicly a harddrive connected to internet that you place the files on. I use that and its great! If someone wants something i videod during the day i just say i will upload them tonight and they can get download the file themselfs. That way i dont have to mess around with USBmemorys and find the file they are looking for. They do it all themselfs. But i dont video tandems, but it would work just as well for tandemvideos. The way it works is i have folder on my laptop that gets mirrord to the NAS harddrives. So when i copy the files from my memorycard to the laptop they get "uploaded" to my NAS.
  4. Umm.. You mean the other way around dont you?
  5. Do you mind telling what the DZ mod is that you guys have?
  6. Pincover Closingloop placing Risercovers Placement of AAD cutter How many locking/line-stows on the bag Freebagdesign Reserve pilotchute design (and function) Looks Comfort
  7. I would. I think there are some on the market, and I jump them. I just think that the economics of a certification don't work. No one is going to pay $500 + for a skydiving helmet. Examples of helmets that do what you like include: ProTec SkySystem's Benny Cookie's 3DO Liners. I dont have any numbers to back this up with but my gut feeling tells me the normal reason for AAD-fires is not losing consciousness. But i could be wrong
  8. Ok. Even if its not that large sample its enough in my opinion to say that packing can not have affected all of those jumps. Thanks for sharing. What i meant about stows dont affect was, offcourse they affect as they can swing the bag or jam. But having no linestows does not make it better or worse if they are done correct.
  9. Did you jump each configuration enough to make sure it was not packingrelated? (whats inside the bag) If you make some difference in the packing before baging it, that could lead to a softer/harder opening too. Just looking at the physics involved, nothing happens before the canopy has left the bag. Having supertight doublewraped smal rubberband that takes time to release will only let you fall further before the canopy is open. ?
  10. But wouldnt smal rubberbands work on all the stows in that case? If you have spectralines a smal rubberband will be loose on linestows. I agree with you that there is a difference between lockingstows and linestows. Some at my DZ belive that doubble or tripplewrapping stows make softer openings. And that the linestows make sure the bag does not open. (no i did not misstype, i know i wrote linestow not lockingstow) My belief is that as long as the slider stays in place untill linestretch i dont need a bag. In my opinion (please correct me if im way off) the bag is to make packing easier, keep slider in place, and stow the lines on. It make little effect on "openingshock".
  11. I have tried all combinations i can think of. Making it supertiny, or making it fullsize as original video, or using a predefined size. And it does not help. Vegas dont like my videos
  12. I tried that, but didnt help as i edited above. I also tried preview and auto, no help. Even Draft and auto gives me a whopping 4 fps playback . The machine is not that bad. A 2.27 Dualcore with 4 GB ram. But its a laptop, so i belive its the graphicscard that sucks big time. But its still strange that the videos play with no problem in windows media player at fullscreen, but i cant have a 1 inch preview in Vegas with crappy resolution
  13. Project settings are 1920x1080x32; 29.970p Camera 1 (ContourHD): 720p 60 fps Camera 2 (Sony): Not my camera so im not sure but i think 1080i something.... I belive Vegas chosed 1080 resolution because of the Sonycameras resolution. EDIT: i just tried to switch settings on Vegas to 720 60fps and it still laggs.
  14. I'm not having issues with playback, full frame rate is easily achievable in Preview/Auto mode. Best/Full will be a challenge. I'm running Vegas on both my 1.83GHz Mac and my quadcore PC...both play fine. you might also be sure you're not running antivirus in the BG. I use preview and Quarter as setting. I dont have any antivirus running in the background except microsoft security essentials. But even when i had a clean install on my computer they still lagg. I dont have those fancy record-whats-on-the-screen softwares as you can see
  15. Well said. Have you seen the new contour? The one with a microphone input? That looks very nice! You could easily have a microphone in you jumpsuit that you could use for groundvideo and just unplug it when you use it as a helmetcam. Maybe i shold correct myself a bit, its not the rendering that is horrible for me. When i try to play a video in sony vegas it works more as a powerpoint slideshow than a video. But the computer can easily handle the videos in other players such as wmp, vlc or with some lagg even quicktime
  16. I dont video tandems myself, but i belive it would work. But i dont think i would use this camera if i was doing tandemfilming as a job. On my computer and with Vegas it´s horrible slow. When i use video from a sony or canon camera it runs smoth. Pm me if you want some raw videos to play with.

    Why Velcro?

You don't have magnets on the bridle? Hmm, weird Apex has it as an option on their rigs too. Very nice mod, what kind of fabric did you use? Do you see any wear on the fabric?

    Why Velcro?

We have magnets everywhere else now on the rigs so why not on the bridle? In a few years we wont need to take grips when we exit, the magnets makes sure we only have one group exiting the plane
  19. Sweden: Tandem and Student equipment: 6 months Sportgear: 6 months but can be prolonged for another 6 months. For the repack to be valid more than 6 months it has to be overlooked by a rigger. This overlook can be made earlisest at moth 5 after a repack.
  20. But an audible has the advantage that it does not need to know that its in freefall for the first 5 seconds. The audible has one job and that is to beep when altitude is low, but the GPS needs to beep when its losing altitude but not in the airplane. And on the jumprun you can easily lose altitude, and combine that with a wingsuit and the decentrate of airplane on jumprun can be very similar to a wingsuit in freefall. Nightmare. Does the GPS have any way of calculating stuff? Can a freefalldetection algorithm be implemented in the software so that it will delete or not log when you are in the airplane? I just had another idea. You are "supposed" to turn on the GPS at the 2 min call. But what if the GPS is turned on at the 2 min call but does not start logging untill 2 min later. Think of it as a timer, you turn on the GPS and 2 min later you hear a beep that means it starts logging? On the next version of Flysight we might even see a button to start the logging?
  21. Its called winter, and usually brings cold weather, rain and snow
  22. Page 11 of the Cypres II manual says And to me that means it will stay activated (if you have activated it) untill you reach 130 feet AGL.
