  1. Thats why he is oging to study landing-gears now. When he figured out how to make that part work he finds his next weak link. In a few years he will either be dead or he has studied every part of a real airplane
  2. I was hoping we would see a picture of a Wingman made for wingsuiting
  3. The test. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-_dsNTZch0 Yes it's the rear wheels thats the problem, not that people could walk along side it
  4. If safety is the only concern, then hook knife is the only option you should add. Kill-line pilotchute is something you really should concider. The gear will probably be slightly harder to sell without. Spacerfoam is a nice option, and articulation too. But it's "only" comfort. If I should choose one of them, I would go for spacerfoam.
  5. Your point with that statement is???? I really have a hard time beliving anyone would jump a Lightning as a BASEcanopy, or what is the point of what you said? Are you saying a BASEcanopy opens harder than a Lightning? Slider up, and if you know how to pack. No. My sportcanopy opens harder than my vented FLiK. Please explain what you mean.
  6. Rolling the nose can make you have more or less end cell closure (inblåsning). More because you hide the end cells. Or some canopies, if you don't roll the nose the canopy might spread before all cells are airfilled. On my previous canopy I rolled the nose a little, on my current canopy I have to roll it like crazy or the canopy will spank me.
  7. The CReWers will be in pain, and say "I will never take a delay on this canopy again!"
  8. Minihomer GPS on a altimeter pillow with (one of) my knife(s)
  9. Packing like a Pro But seriously, there are many variations of how to pack, but none of them really is easy enough to explain in written text. I suggest you look at PDs packingvideos. Both the new one made by Nick and the older version that is ~40 min long. They are both very well made. Up to the point of where you start making the "cocoon" smaler, they are all pretty much the same. And from there up to where you close the bag my suggestion is to find a way that you are comfortable with.
  10. Pic 1, you can see a slight tail first inflation. Nose on the right, tail on the left. Pic 2, Again nose on left. This is the kind of opening I would want. This is what it would look like with a tailgate for those of you that don't know that. Pic 3, Nose is up, tail is down. The nose seems to have collapsed completly and folded under the canopy. Really shitty. Pic 4, Belive it or not, but nose is up, tail is down. Here the endcells almost hit eachother at the very top of the picture. And the tail of the canopy seems airfilled/pressurized. I could not see on any of the clips that he had used a line release mod. And it looks like standard toggles, and not even WLO toggles. I like the concept, but it lacks all the details that would make me want to buy it.
  11. Do you need the gear now? I just looked at UPT's site and the delivery time is ~six months, and thats may next year. Do you need the gear during winter? And I agree about the wingloadings. I have about the same wingload on my reserve, but i have made ~400 jumps more than you. It would have to be a very good reason why I would load my reserve higher than what I do now
  12. Are you using tailgate? The video you liked to earlier does not use tailgate (as far as I can see), and they get openings I would not like to have. I paused the video at one point and it looked like it had a tail first inflation and the nose endcells almost touching eachoter, the nose seemd to collapse. And it also seems they use the guidrings for the controllines. In my opinion a very odd setup that will most likely end up with a lineover one day.
  13. Are you going to use a BASE canopy or a skydiving reserve? You say BASE but also talk about a freebag. In my opinion a BASEcanopy and bag is a big no-no. http://youtu.be/JntccxoeYls If you remove the tailpocket, then I gues it could work. But you would end up with a large skydive reserve with vents. So again? Skydive reserve or BASE?
  14. CRW usually exits either first or last, this depends on the wind at the time. So, roughly, CRW goes before RW groups in very light winds, and last out in higher winds. Usually wingsuits will go 2nd last if there's CRW on the load, but as long as the spot is OK, CRW could go before wingsuit as well without any safety issues - aside from exiting wingsuiters diving at the CRW formation I would prefer wingsuits after CRW. But the CRW-dogs I know go out way before the others, even downwind of the DZ. Jumping before the jumprun is in my opinion the safest as you normally land before the next loads low jumprun. We have had times when we landed at the same time as the next loads low hop n pops. And we all stood there looking at eachoter, "where did you come from???" He did not expect us in the air and we did not expect him to be in the air.
  15. I don't agree with you. First you have to get him out of his seat, then try to push him trough the plane and out of the door. Sure he will float, but 10 minutes later he will start complaining about beeing hungry. No take the life jacket below the seat
  16. Any commercial airliner, the cabin crew gets really cranky when you try to open the door.
  17. Why? Some people are "proud" of having a unused handle What would you do if someone meets all other requirements but they cutaway? No D? Or make them jump a rig with a malfunction? Jumping a rig you know has a malfunction would probably give nothing. You might as well pull the handles on the ground. It's not going to be a "suprise".
  18. I can't tell from the video when he release the brakes, I can just see that when he has one or two twists left the toggles has been pulled. I would wait untill I have the canopy under control, menaing no twist. As you said, if the lines would get cought it cough make it worse. Did not know it was standard procedure.
  19. Yes, some kind of bridleattachment that lets go at linestretch I guess.
  20. Why release the brakes before all twists are out?
  21. Am I the only one thinking of a reserve with a tailpocket and "freechute" that you freepack in to the container? Would it be possible? There would have to be some modifications to both reserve and rig. Riggers and others with more knowledge than me, what do you think?
  22. Thank you! Will try that! So when the Speed_Acc is higher is that due to weak signal (not enough satelites) or is it because the Flysight does not predict you jumping? It seems the problem occurs as you jump but then it "catches up" on you again, I see that pattern on all jumps. Maybe you should teach the Flysight the skydivers handshake and it will be ready for the jump
  23. First I zoomed in on the road and thought: What an idiot! How could he miss all those houses right next to the street? That should be a clear sign something is wrong. Then I zoomed in on the airport... And if the runway was a bit narrower... Who lives that close to a runway anyway??!!
  24. Clear as mud huh? Sunset is when the sun itself is not directly visible when it falls below the horizon. Now, to confuse things....there's nothing in there that says what altitude the observer has to be at the time of observance. Yes and that is also one of the things with sunset jumps. The sun can be "up" while you are in freefall and under canopy, but as you make your landningpattern it could be below the horizon. The DZ that I jump at does not have a tower, and has to communicate with a tower 30-40 km south. Even if a prominent unlit objects was clearly visible on distance of 8 km the tower called the DZ and said it was a nightjump and we did not ask for a NOTAM for that jump.
  25. That was a very simple explenation. Why does our have to be so hard? Clear as mud huh?
