Skipping stairs while running down the stairs does not qualify it as a BASE jump. Please enlighten us what this "building jump" was

My Lightning 160 packs just slightly smaler than my FLiK 266. I use the same rig for both of them when I skydive the FLiK.

I remember when I was down in Cape Town many years ago, long before skydiving. I was looking up at the mountain and see clouds falling down from the mountain. Almost like ITW but opposit. I believe I have video of it too.

With time the distance to earth gets closer during a skydive. And at one point the distance will be the same as "bungy jump height". Just a thought

You could buy a rig sized for a 230 main and it will be easier to pack and you will get a larger reserve

I agree with you on seperate compatements. My gearbag had one big pocket on the outside for everything and it became a mess in there. When you needed something you had to empty the pocket to find what you needed. So this week I sewed on a pocket on the inside with a seperating wall. And in the existing big pocket on the outside I made walls deviding it in three. It is so nice now! Now I can finally find what I'm looking for

TX Skydiving firm sued in student's death

Or you just harden the fuck up and stop whining at silly shit. -
Just a thought-Audio range finders for under canopy?
Hellis replied to LongWayToFall's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Chop it! It seems most of you are focusing on a head on collision. Sure 300 feet is very close when you are flying straight on to someone. You should have seen someone straight infront of you, unless it is at deployment as there was some video of a week ago. But in all other situations 300 feet seems reasonable to me. -
Rig stolen while checked in on flight.

Montreal convention Article 18 and 22. 1000 SDR ~ 1220€ Another good reason to not check in gear. If they don't take full responsibillity, they can not force me to check in the gear. And you never know how much fun those muppets have with your bag. They might damage your AAD, and it might be to late when you find out it's damaged -

Where are you getting your instruction from? Some of your views are a bit, misinformed. Cutting the one line is not a new malfunction, just a new result of the same malfunction. If thought out, usually, means problem reduced/removed and it is safe to land. The Canopy only needs a "few" lines to "function". In the end the design works BEST with ALL lines, but you can land with a few missing, many of use have. One should never use money as motivation during a malfunction and EP's. YES! On should always think about what they are doing! Just like the Jumper in the video did! Matt Matt I would say when you cut the A4 and B4 line of a 7 cell canopy you have a malfunction. I have never seen it been done, but if you think it's safe to land a canopy with that much fabric flapping around. Get video of it. And what I meant about the cost. In my opinion you would have to be both dumb and cheap to even try a mid air rigging that involves cutting the A4 and B4 line. -

Yes a canopy *can* function without all lines. Is it worth risking? Cuting a suspension line will give you a new malfunction that by most or all standards should be cut away. Relining a canopy is not cheaper than a repack, unless you only replace those few lines that you cut, but it will still be very close to the same price as a repack. So should you cut the line because you don't trust the reserve? In that case I think one should think about what they are doing. -

You're not saying cuting a line would help do you? You would just end up with a broken main canopy that you still have to cut away because you cut a suspensionline -
Thought so too. Thanks!

Is this safe to use on a canopy for long term use? Or will the glue dissolve the fabric? http://www.paragear.com/templates/base_template.asp?group=251#W905 Have heard that ripstoptape can do that, could be a old type of ripstop tape that did that. But is this safe to use?

Ahh... That makes sense

I think NOT! A TI with a 50+ girlfriend? Ohh.. sorry missread that

Problem is not solved. This bag still uses rubber bands

Maybe you should look at the videos called AFF on youtube instead?

The re-pack cycle ~ *From Z-Hill Fatality thread
Hellis replied to airtwardo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We have one year repack cycle here. Have not noticed that my handle is harder to pull now then when we had six months. However I do pull the cables at least one time per jumpday. Only the cables not the velcro. Just to feel them move. Don't know why, but I guess it's one more of those things that make me weird. And I thought it was common practice to soften the 3 rings from time to time? -
But the more jumps you have on standard PCs the harder the switch will be in my opinion. I don't know how you guys fold the PC but the way I do it, it would be impossible with a collapsed PC.

From youtube video:

Depends on the main. What main are we talking about. Low bulk canopys, Spectre (probably all square 7 cells), and most likely a F111 170 would fit.
-
The yellow cable takes very little load of the risers. You can try it next time you are under canopy, just try to move the loop the cable is going trough. You will notice there is very little tension on it. And normally in BASE you have the "french" style risers, with no grommet. Generally people don't like them in skydiving because they can hang up while cutting away, but in BASE you generally don't cut away while still in the air.

I see

That looks like a very good idea, but in reality it seems very hard. First those lines must be either marked in some way so that noone enters the no fly zone or crosses the lines. Second, you need a massive landingarea. If we esimate a 20 second canopy ride in the baseleg, canopys will travel aprox 200 m. Thats 200 m for left landing pattern and 200 m for right landing pattern. And then you need at least 50 m of no fly zone on each side, plus ~50 of "straight in" landing area. That means you need at very minimum 550 m of landingarea. And this landingarea can not cross the runway. Then you might need a seperate HP landing area? Looks good on paiper but I'm not sure it can be done in real life. Even our "huge" landingarea will not be enough for that.
