From 300 feet you would have about 4-4.5 seconds till you hit the ground. A reserve *should* open in 2 seconds. And as you have the airspeed from the planes forward motion it should work. But doing what you are suggesting can lead to a big mess. First of all it takes time! Do you have time to mess around? You could end up wraping the bridle around your foot, or an arm or a friend. Next time someone needs a repack, try to do this 'stunt' of yours in the airplane while it's on the ground and time it. To make it more realistic, have the airplane full of skydivers with gear, all wanting to get out while you are doing your "rigging". My guess is that you will be last out or pushed out before your done with your rigging. Remember to put a matress under the airplane door, someone could get hurt.

So you want to make a direct-bag type of jump from an ariplane? An airplane thats going down. Ever heard of mid air rigging? And unless you are alone in the plane, I doubt anyone will let you take that time. And your second question. Pull the pin in a open door and then jump? What happens if the pc and canopy goes above the stabilazor? What did you learn at your FJC? And why do you think this does not apply to you? Serious question.

what riser length should I get 23" or 24"

I see what you are saying, but I don't believe it. Look at the stowless bags, magnetic bags, tailpockets, and freebags. Also there is a video on youtube with a russian woman packing in 2:30 not doing any of the linestows, and the opening is similar to the one with linestows made. I do understand the forces you are saying, but adding 1" more of slack to the first linestow would do the same. And how often do you get your stows exactly the same? -

Why would it be harder? -
80 years old. 1 jump. And gets about as much attention as Garry when he lands a wingsuit. I agree, looking at pic 1 is really disturbing. But what strap is it that is dangeling at the shot when she is walking towards the plane?

I wear earplugs and do it to protect my ears. Hearing someone else under canopy is almost impossible with a normal skydiving helmet. If you use a skate type helmet that does not block your ears, then yes you can hear some. I rely on doing not shouting. Trying to shout to someone instead of turning away from the other canopy is a big mistake. Save your breath and avoid the collision instead, most likely the guy won't hear you, or too late.
-
Are you looking up and/or grabbing the risers when the canopy is deploying? Linetwist? It would be intressting to see what happens during the openings. If there is that much dive in the opening that it can create a linetwist, it sounds bad.

Can someone record it anyway. If it does go on air/internet

The Sky go app for android seems to be UK only.

That link does not work on my phone

Oh no!! I can't watch it on my phone Anyone know how to fix that?

If I get the timezones correct, it should be in ~7 min EDIT: Sorry 3 hours

I have never jumep a Pulse, but looking at a few openings on youtube it seems to be a normal-slow opening canopy. The slider seems to stop for a while rather high and the canopy starts turning. And thats how the canopy was built, to open slow. And when the slider takes a pause like that it is vert likely you get a off heading. If the slider would come down quicker it would be less likely you get an off heading, but the opening would also be harder.

Meh! Just turn 180 towards the center again before you pull
-
Very nice! Anyway you could upload that in high quality and high resolution? Or mail me and I can host it.

Why has nobody suggested nudejumping yet? Oh, we are not in the bonfire forum are we?
-
French canopies are known to open quicker. But I agree with Dave, get more jumps before you walk that direction.

Yes. A homemade necklace made of 900 lbs dacron with a "hommade softlink closing" at the back. But I would not wear one if I didn't make one myself.
-
Now that I see them like that, it's more obvious. Never really payed that much attention to the straight pins. Thanks! Edit: But I'm not sure I have ever seen the bottom one before.

The bettery is rechargeable :) Not on the airplane or in freefall. It's not that the battery can go dead, but rather WHEN the battery can go dead. Sure you can http://www.treehugger.com/renewable-energy/the-mini-kin-offers-cheaper-option-for-personal-wind-charger.html Some stickytape and you can attach it to the helmet!

Not enough instructors is a very common reason. But since I don't know which dz he is talking about, I can only give you the most common reason.
-
I think he may have been talking about the straight pin used in a pull out system. It is not TSO’d. Sparky http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp55/mjosparky/Skydiving/IMG-1.jpg I did not even know there was two kinds of straight pins. I know you can have a straight pin on the main setup as your picture but I did not know it was a "different" pin.
-
Agree. But I have a Suunto Core that I have made a few skydives with. And having the Viso right next to it I could compare the altitude. I did not notice much difference. And.. Maybe it's just me but 2-500 feet isn't that much. An analoge can easily "beat" that. If it would be 2-500 feet off in canopy that would be bad.

Lmao Really, though. They could make a large brittle floating plateform with boxes on top that they could put on the Z-hills swoop pond. This way if the boxes fail, then at least the water will be of some cushioning... ...some... Unless the boxes float away But seriously I think it's a very bad idea. He will have both arm and legwings zipped and landing in water, with a packed rig and a helmet. The plan on it's own is in my opinion pretty crazy, but landing in water too. Hats of to you

So does that mean the straight pin is TSO'd?
