  1. Depends on the type of electronic logbook. If you are talking about spreadsheet, mobileapp an similar types then yes you can. On ProTrack, Jumptrack, Paralog you can do it but it will show as a "fake" jump. For example browsing trough the ProTrack the jumpno will not show up. In Jumptrack there will not be any freefall data, and I believe Paralog shows the same. I have jumps that don't have the freefall data in Jumptrack but thats because it's CREW jumps. But in a paper logbook you can write whatever you want. So in my opinion the paper logbook is easier to fake and has less "value". I keep both a paper and a electronic copy. If I lose my paper logbook I have it all in my computer, and I can recreate a new logbook.
  2. Ok, it seems there is a lot of discussion about digital vs analog again. And again the same arguments come up "what if the batterys run out". Seriously! Has anyone ever had that happen? I'm not talking about "it could happen", has anyone here jumped a digital alti long enough to run out of batteries even though the batterywarning starts long before? And knowing someone at another DZ that heard of someone else that was neighbour to one..... No, Have you or have you seen in first person veiw that a digital alti has run out of battery. (when the person landed of course) I'm very curious if this dead batterys is just a "myth", or if it actually has happend.
  3. I bet the velcro is really hard to replace? You can probably use Paint to resize the picture
  4. Or horse shoes... DZ jargon is one thing but complacency during student training... I thought you knew all DZ have directbag. Dissapointed in you
  5. Robbin has one, or used to have one. Maybe he sold it but you could ask him. Last time I saw him use it was probably two or three years ago.
  6. I just paid for the download and got this: Hope I can download it later
  7. I don't think it's a BASE canopy. Never heard of that canopy, is it a discontinued model? Found this when I searched for it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/detail_page.cgi?ID=123826;d=1 Atair makes skydive mains too
  8. The reason I heard was, the lines by the slider is not tensioned as good and can cause wear on slider and the canopymaterial that is nearby. It can probably be true that you lose some of the linetension, but if that wears the canopy or if it wears 'enough to make a difference', I have no clue. And regarding larger canopys. I pack with the traditional method, and do it sucessfully up to 300 sqf. (300 new sqf) Size doesn't matter
  9. Because we know how to pack the other way. And it's quicker to bag the canopy the normal way. I have also heard, might be a rumor that is not true, that this reverse S-fold wears on the canopy more.
  10. Another big Google invention. http://youtu.be/rznYifPHxDg
  11. I don't usually use this method as my canopy is very old and almost packs itself. But if/when I do use it, I place a knee/leg across the canopy as the picture shows. In this way I control the slider (and lines) until the other part of the canopy is baged. When I lift the bag to a standing position I grab the lines by the slidergrommets to make sure they don't slip down the lines.
  12. Never seen a video of it. But here is a thread with some pictures of the 'Reverse S-fold' http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2973654#2973654
  13. It seems you don't understand the hints. You will lose a shitload of money if you get it shipped to you.
  14. Not sure where you get that idea. All the sky hook does is use the main as a PC. If you start you EPs in a shitty body position, you will be in that position whn the skyhook pulls out you reserve. Yep. + In this event the Skyhook would not have done anything at all, as the jumper did not have the RSL connected. The Skyhook can be a good thing, but it does not allways function as it should. You Greg seem to believe it's gods gift to this planet, and everything can be solved with a Skyhook. That is not true. A Skyhook is a backup (secondary) device. You are the the primary. If the primary fails, you will die!
  15. What good would a Skyhook do in this event? And what is a must for the Skyhook to function? Think about that and look at the video again.
  16. Never tried this myself, but you could ask the dealer/manufactor to lable the box with larger stickers "Drugs", "Heroin", "Marijuana", "LSD", etc. It could work
  17. All the "corrections" made at the last seconds of flight destroyed the flare even more. Corrections should be made higher or with harness. Hope she heals fast
  18. To some degree I must agree with this jumper. If we are talking about AFF students there should not be any cases were a Skyhook is required for the save. A AFF student should be sadled at 3500-4000 feet, and having a malfunction and riding it down to less than 1000 feet before cuting away is not ok. Even if the case is that you cut away a low speed malfunction at 3000 feet without an RSL, you still have about 25 seconds untill the AAD fires and ~30 till impact. And if students are trained to act slower.... However, that was in case of AFF. Static line students are usually sadled lower and have higher risk of beeing unstable. But if you buy a new student rig the extra cost of ~$250 (?) for the Skyhook is in my opinion worth it as new jumpers sometimes borrow/rent student gear before they buy their own.
  19. I use a large hole mesh slider on terminal BASE jumps. I even expose the center of the nose just as on a slider off jump.
  20. That would be under the thread titled "What's the least you'd pay for an AAD (if you have one)" I think you really missunderstood that.
  21. Am I the only one who finds the options in the Poll funny? There is no option for less than current pricing. The second range is $1399. The third range is $999. The fourth range is $1.
  22. I will forward the information
  23. Thanks guys. I know how to find out the mainence date but as it's not mine I don't have it here. I just found it odd that it did not have any jumps loged. There is probably nothing to worry about. Thanks for the answers.
  24. I think the 4 year check should have been done in 2009. And next in 2013. I'm not sure it has been checked in 2009, but it is airworthy now, so the 4 year check has been done sometime between 2009 and now. Do they ersase jumpnumbers at the 4 year check?
  25. A friend has bought used gear and the Cypres 2 is from 2005. But It shows 0 jumps. Why would a Cypres show 0 jumps? Except the obvious reason
