  1. A few months ago a girl walked passed me with her weightbelt routed outside her cutaway and reserve handles as she was walking to the plane. And I could not see what was wrong first, but I keept thinking of what I saw, and when she had walked 10-15 feet and I still had not figured out what I saw that made me get this feeling something was wrong I called on her and when she turned around I saw the problem. She was in a rush and had forgot her weightbelt, and realised when she was all geared up. She arched to get the belt behind her back and then buckeld it up at the front as she had done several times before. But this time the rig got underneath
  2. Yeah! Wingsuit BASE proximity with sunglasses at night and at least four GoPros. Why havn't you all thought of that before? But what is a night jump? When the weather forecast says the sun sets? When the sun is below the horizon? Or when it's dark? And in that case how dark? I know the swedish rules has a very odd definition of night jumps, but what are the USPAs definition of night? Just as a sidenote. I would love to make a night jump. And what would make it even cooler would be to have fireworks beeing shot below while under canopy. It might sound crazy, but I have actually looked at it and most fireworks only go 3-400 feet up.
  3. I recomend a BASE stash bag with retraction such as http://www.apexbase.com/product.php?product_id=140 It will hold the rig and you can make it as smal as the rig. If you need to unpack either main or reserve there is most likely enough room to hold it in the stash bag. Maybe not super comfortable, but it's not a pain.
  4. Config file: Speed_Acc? Does that mean all data that is less accurate than 1.5 m/s should be omited? Should that be set higher? Or can it be deleted completly?
  5. A friend mailed me some Flysight data and by some reason the freefall part is missing. It was BASE jumps so nothing is blocking the sky and it should be easier to get a good fix. I find it very odd as the device had 9 sattelites in range on one of the jumps and 8 on the other. I have don't have the settings file yet, but I will mail him and ask for it. So either he uploads it here or I will when I get it. Is there perhaps some setting that is better suited for BASE? The following zip contains three of the jumps in excel format (I can upload raw data too if needed), two of the jumps there is no freefall data at all, and one there is just a ~5 sec lag. http://www.hellis.me/BASE.zip
  6. For all of you who are on a Android platform, I recomend you try Jeannie. It's Siri for Android. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pannous.voice.actions.free&feature=search_result Lets just say the developer had some fun Try "Show me a pussy" Lets hope they don't get sued for that.
  7. Over here it is beeing used by both users and carriers as the benchmark. The carriers even write on their homepages on how to use similar tools as this. And if you do have problems with speed and can back it up with data from such tools the can magically raise your speed. And the funny thing is, if you pay for 10 MB/s, you usually get 7-8 MB/s. And they can not get it faster. But if you call them and ask for 100 MB/s, you get 70-90 MB/s, and that is without replacing any hardware, just a push of a button. But the extra 2-3 MB/s was impossible
  8. My reception at home really sucks Most of the test was done on 3G, but some of the uploadtest was done on GSM. HTC Desire Z, Android 2.3
  9. On my second rig I have four (4) knives (yes it's a CReW rig), one "normalsized" on each legstrap, one Jack The Ripper on my cheststrap, one Benchmade 8 Hook on my left mudflap. All can be reached with either hand, but three of them are easier to get with my right hand. The only time I jump with less than two knifes is with BASErig, but I have two knives laying just waiting to be sewn on.
  10. " ......................................................................... When you consider that the majority of two-outs these days are caused by scared AADs - after opening mains too low - the problem starts below 750 feet. No way that gives you enough time to steer it into a down-plane, cutaway, turn your reserve into the wind, etc. I thought the priority was. Canopy above your head. Feet together Land into the wind. But I agree. I tried to find the video I mentioned earlier, but I guess it has been deleted
  11. Unless your AAD missfired or you had a acidental reserve pull, you are very low and doing "stunts" like that is a bit crazy. But yes it would work, there are videos of it on youtube too.
  12. I think this thread takes care of your questions. The videolink is on page 5 now. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4219281#4219281
  13. So as a newly licensed jumper you have to pay for 21 slots + rig rent or buy one. Ooooh.... In my opinion, this sounds like a good system for giving coaches free jumps, but not so good to keep new jumpers in the sport. What kind of jumping are the student doing while a student? Is there not any jumps with FS in the jump progression as student?
  14. With large 3 rings you can attach minirisers on the rig. But with mini 3 rings you can't attach large risers. But we all know the rules in skydiving, 1. Get it on video! 2. Look good while doing it. 3. Saftey. So because minirisers look better.... That's incorrect. There are plenty of Large risers made with mini 3rings. I belived the question was about the ringsize and not the webbingwidth of the risers. If the question is about the actual riser width, then my statement is incorrect, but if the question is about the rings, which is also the name of this topic, i stand my ground on my statement I suggest you read this again. You stated that presence of mini 3 rings takes away the ability to use large risers. And that's false. I said it, Sparky showed you a picture. keep digging. What i wrote and meant is when you have a rig with smal rings you can not attach large ring risers. But a rig with large rings can handle both smal and large ring risers. As the thread was about the rings and not the webbing I figured it would be obvious what i wrote. Guess not.

  17. Flysight with Flyblind software. EDIT: Maybe it's not such a good idea to jump on those days?
  18. Jump it. BUT, I would repack the main, and by doing that I would be very super sure I won't need that reserve anyway. If I was a rigger myself I would open it and have a look. I have bought used gear that had a packed reserve, and I jumped it.
  19. Why put it in a bag? There is a tailpocket on BASEcanopys for a reason. I have seen a video on youtube where a tailpocket got stuck inside the bag resulting in a cutaway. Much easier and better to just stow the lines in the tailpocket and pack it as a CRW canopy. Found the video. http://youtu.be/JntccxoeYls

  21. I understand that you might be worried about not beeing stable. I had a student that made a very unstable exit/freefall on his hop n pop, but as you can see he cleared it and he had plenty of time still. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqp6t-UOGG0 EDIT: Just to be clear about one thing. It was not my idea to dive out. But since he feelt more comfortable with that i didnt want to argue with him about it.
  22. No. Thats not my experience. Even if im on my kees facing forward it will still show 180 degrees off. However, if im sitting in the middle of the plane and leening towards the center of the airplane it will be correct. Thats why i assume its the metal. But it could be different on your GPS.
  23. Cheaper option Very accurate, except inside the airplane where the metal makes the compass show 180 degrees off. However as an altimeter, no. Use a real altimeter.
