  1. Hey, that's great Sebazz!! And you're from NorCal too!!! Another + for us Bay Area jumpers. So I'm curious... Did he fail the dive ? My first AFF jump, I was to pull at 5,500' Othewise, how low would you let him go before 'dumping him' ? __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  2. I wouldn't normally say this about a dz.com regular, but it sounds like Nathan is trolling for catfish or bass. You aren't serious, are you Nathan ? __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  3. I don't see how loading a disc on your computer has anything to do with your company's firewall. I also cannot believe that they would freely give you full access to their router/firewall and allow you to expose their network to the outside world. Enjoy it while it lasts...I'm sure somebody's head is going to roll soon. - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  4. Thanks!! And she thanks you too!! Her name is Kayla. She is a Malamute/Wolf mix. 60/40 % I'm obsessed with taking pictures of her... __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.

  8. Here is my main computer in my room. Yes, I love skydiving... but my dog looks better on my desktop. (here's a shot of her taking a blast of water in the face... she loves to play in the water/garden hose/sprinklers/lake/ocean...etc...) - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  9. Press PrtScrn Then go into paint under Accessories press Ctrl-V to paste the screenshot Save it as a .JPG file Upload it.... just check "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file. " before clicking Continue and it will then prompt you for the file you just created. 10. No doubt... I love these threads. Here is my laptop, which I am on most of the time since I am unemployed.. I will post my other computer later. - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  11. Yep...me too. I always say that the fear goes away as soon as I step out the door. Fear is replaced by adrenaline. I mean why do I need fear after leaving the plane ??... It's too late to be thinking about that...just relax and enjoy the dive and do what you are supposed to do and trained to do if something bad happens. and yes... looking down is pretty scary the first couple of times. Especially when you notice the grond start to get closer....that is really freakin' scary!! Usually by that time, I am deploying, so it doesn't last long. - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  12. It should not be any problem jumping at other USPA drop zones with your proficiency card filled out completely. The stamp doesn't even have to be there... trust me - I have experience. I got my card signed off with about 23 jumps and then had a JM at my dz "stamp" it and then fax it in. Well, it turned out the "stamp" was just the FAXED stamp. I asked if that was ok, and they said yes. Well, I went to CSS the weekend after and I showed it to them at the reg counter. They said that the "FAXED" stamp was not a legit stamp, but after looking over my logbook and my card, she stamped it with a REAL A STAMP!! So I think the bottom line is... if you have your A proficiency card filled out and signed by a JM, then it should not be a problem at any USPA dz. I add the USPA part, cause other dzs might do things differently. Hope that helps -Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  13. Thanks, I saw that thread. However that seemed to deal with the construction of the PC and not exactly what my question was. I was asking not of the construction, but of the packing concern I had. -Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  14. I recently purchased my first collapseable (sp) for my rig. I have jumped it two times and love the opening. However on the last pack, I noticed what you just mentioned. Looking at the window, it was green and the PC does float down to the ground in an "open" position. However, this bunched up bridle has made me think about checking/re-cocking it again before deployment. I plan on popping the pin, pulling out my D-bag and re-cocking it before I jump next time. My question is - is this normal ? (the bunched up bridle above the pin and before the d-bag ?) If I pull it to take the slack out, it does pull the white string (forget what it's called) and it will make the window turn from green to white. Is this safe to jump, even though throwing the PC it does appear to be catching air ?? __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  15. Trillian .73 works for me. I don't use MSN though... IRC and AOL are the only ones I use. __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  16. Did I tell you how much I love my Spectre 190 ?? Probably not, I just got it last Thursday. I bought it used for 850. It has 200 jumps on it and is in Excellent condition (according to two riggers at my dz) They say it is a steal..... - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  17. I just recently purchased a used Spectre 190 with 200 jumps on it. I have clocked the last two openings and they were both at 1000' ( from throwout to full inflation.) My question I guess is the opposite what you all are talking about. I love the openings, but maybe a bit less in altitude burn would be nice. What can I do to speed up the opening just a bit ? 600-800 feet sounds good to me. Again, this is not a complaint, I just have concerns if doing a low hop-n-pop someday. I currently do not roll the nose. I push it in a bit, but no rolling. I quarter the slider and then wrap the stabilizer ( fold in the 3 or 4 folds on the stabilizer - overlapping) I put about 10 rolls on the tail and then pro pack it. Any other spectre owners have feedback on how to speed it up a bit ? Thx __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  18. Muscle memory maybe, but it's definitely NOT the right thing to do.... that should be made very clear. If I'm at 1000' or below and nothing is out...my reserve is coming out - if I can overcome my muscle memory. I jump a Spectre and I have timed the openings - 1000' exactly ( from hand on hackey to all cells inflated) - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  19. >>Beer rules HERE. Shit, I didn't know that. I am happy to know that my number of cases owed (I think it's up to 10 now) has been dramatically reduced to 3 or 4. whew... __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.

  21. Yeah, that is what happened for my live water training too. Piece of cake... just swim out from under the canopy and then remove the harness. Although I can't understand why someone would want to intentionally jump their own personal rig into the water. Why ?? The rig we used for training was made especially for that purpose. __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  22. I was looking at that the other day and the 2002 info is missing. It was there about a month or so ago with either 2 or 3 deaths so far for 2002. I am not sure why the info would be retracted. I also noticed that the site hasn't been up a couple times too. - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  23. Hey .. I resent that remark!!! The name cornholio has nothing to do with "corn" or whatever your sick flaming mind is thinking. The nick is from Beavis and Butthead... my idols. I drink way too much coffee and friends started calling me Cornholio (Beavis when he gets all amped on Caffiene and Sugar) __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  24. Yes, I do need to buy a t-shirt. That is the first thing I will do when I find a job! And the jumpsuit is not completely pink, just a little pink on the front, and flourescent light green on the back. I might not wear it if it is too hot out. I might try to go jumpsuit-less for the "first" time. And what is this talk about my name? I didn't quite understand that part. - Cornholio __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
  25. Ok, so it looks like Saturday is the day I will be at CSS. I plan on just coming out with my dad and possibly my sister. I won't be there all day, but do plan to jump 1-3 times. Anyone else going to be out there? Look for me with the bright pink jumpsuit with rental gear (I left mine at home) or I will try and wear my white/blue Hawaiian shirt. I am going to try and be there around 10:30. - Matt __________________________________________ If first you don't succeed....skydiving is not for you.
