I'd love to see pictures too, and pictures of the removable bag/bridle/pilot. Just curious, and don't worry, I don't have a sewing machine nor do I have the knowledge on how to use one!!! Whilst my German sucks to a degree that I believe anything you translate, this being your first and only post on the first and only day that you have been active at this forum renders me a bit suspicious. Dark forces are gathering around AAD it seems! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: Maybe this is just the first post in a huge series of them, in that case I already apologise Disclaimer2: I am not in any way connected to any manufacturer in this business, nor do I have any interest in any way in some company making a buck (or euro) more than any other. Just watching this thread with a lot of interest because bad forum-karma seems to be present. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Don't make me come down there" - God. I saw a link to this thread on http://www.paraforum.nl where a discussion about the VIGIL is filling up some pages as well. I read all 7 pages in here and I have a few comments. 1) I see a lot of comments on the commercial aspect of what AAD is doing, and I am amased. Why not make a difference between research/production and sales, as far as I am concearned the sales department is doing a great job, From unknown, VIGIL has started a campaign that you don't see often in this industry, they literally are everywhere, and no skydiver will give you a "what the hell are you talking about" look if you mention the name. If I look at pictures of the championship in Croatia, there's orange T-shirts everywhere. Looking at skydiving magazines, they are in them. Instead of commenting on people like Tom and Kim, we should be amased of what they are doing, without them, we wouldn't even know that this product is around. I had a few jobs in sales and I quickly came to realise that it doesn't matter what you are selling, if you sell lots of it you are doing a good job. *Enough sunshine up theirs...* 2)Let's all agree that we should be lucky to have a company to compete with airtec. I wonder what your VectorIII would cost if relative workshop was the only provider of harnesses... *enough of the obvious...* 3)Take a little look at http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?guest=7432588&do%3Dsearch_results%3Bsearch_forum%3Dall%3Bsearch_user_username%3Dindiana%3Bmh%3D25=Show+user%27s+posts Anybody else see a pattern? If you read this, even if it's not your name I'm pretty sure you know who Tom was talking about, and you and I both know that that name just might have got a lot to do with the fact that VIGIL was on the market too soon. *enough stirring up things when not needed...* 4) As for my own vieuw, I'm happy that my Cypres will be good for another 2 years, so AAD has time enough to prove to the world that they can fix their problems and compete with Airtec. Since the VIGIL comes from the country where my ancestors and I were born, I have to say that as I prefer Brussels sprouts over Bratwürst, I'd love to choose the Vigil instead of the Cypres 2 years (It's not only nationalism that drives me, my Cypress used to belong to my father and Airtec didn't tell him that it would only last for 12 years upon purchase, I share his grudge...) *enough writing nonsense in a thread when only time will tell...* "Don't make me come down there" - God. Recovery Arch - Toggles Vs. Risers
AiRpollUtiOn replied to goose491's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Scientific: adding or taking away dynamic energy. In toggle turns you convert dynamic energy into potential energy which by gravity is converted into dynamic energy again. On risers you leave out the useless part. "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio -
Recovery Arch - Toggles Vs. Risers
AiRpollUtiOn replied to goose491's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Before posting I see the need for a disclaimer My jumpnumber is just what you can read in my profile so if you want you can dismiss everything I say because at 450 jumps I can't now anything anyway... If you want the scientific approach I think you have too many variables. What you need to make this equasion right is starting from a certain moment after the initiation of the turn where for both approaches the speed is the same. (same chute same wingload yadiyada...) If you can figure out at wich angle you would be in both situations at a certain speed the answer to your question will be obvious! I would be a bad test-subject because I'm waiting for a new line-set and untill they arrive have a recovery arc of about 3.7 ft. "Don't make me come down there" - God. I think I'm just gonna hold on that order untill I have taken a closer look at the guy's camera. I ordered myself a nice little Hama HR 0.45 HTMC Compact lens, front diameter 54 mm, looking forward to jumping it! My PC-7e (really old but stil does the job) has a mount of 37mm. Just occured to me, it could very well happen if you`re too low-too fast-would pull anything to plane out before *SMACK* But hey, in this case this changes nothing to the situation that: A) same thing will happen on toggles. B) you`re eating dirt. "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio

Phreezone, I think I sort of agree, sensitivity is an issue, but to which extent (I try to look at it not only theoretically but also trusting on common sense of the guy/girl performing the superdooperswooperd). I mean, if you`re doing back riser plane outs, swoops and/or entire landing sequences, I must presume that you know your canopy and are aware of this higher sensitivity. Therefore I think that it is possible that you will give too much input, but I think it is very unlikely that this overimput will be to such an extent that you will develop a high speed stall. Imagine what an increase of AoA you need for the airflow to detach from the boundary layer. I wonder if at high speed a canopy will buffet as well (please leme know if U know) It`s much more likely that you will balloon back up and automatically get of your rears with a sad face because at this point your surf is already looking like a kitesurf with a high jump (but way less cool :p ). Propably the odds of you stalling the canopy is equally high when you`re on toggles. I`ve flown quite a few different airfoils (not only parachutes, some had power, even jet power) and out of experience I know that high speed stalls aren`t easy to induce on non-critical airfoils (such as parachutes), they`re built to fly, not to fall out of the sky. But then again I`m not really speaking out of skydiving experience here, never seen a parachute make a high speed stall, or felt mine do anything funny like this. Has anyone seen this and what does it look like??? Video would be great, to get knowledge and to get a good laugh (if the guy/girl stands up afterwards that is) "Don't make me come down there" - God. WHY? When using rear risers you are deforming your canopy a lot less than when you apply only toggles, certainly in the final part where you`re already bringing `em fairly low. So basically when you stay off the toggles, using only the risers you should have a better airfoil above your head, thus be less likely to stall. I don`t know nuthin` so I might be wrong Please explain me why I`m supposed to be wrong! If there were a [dumbass] smiley I`d use it now! "Don't make me come down there" - God. Question: Highest Pull Altitude?
AiRpollUtiOn replied to Kramer's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
About 11000 unintentionally. Never do any relative stuff with people that can`t tell the difference between a grip and your little ball thingy. The guy came in quite hard from about a 45 degree angle and didn`t flare his approach adequately, instead of going underneeth and floating up again he decided to grab anything he could. But hey, the vieuw was great over Gran Canaria, could see most of the other islands and its not really like it gets cold out there... "Don't make me come down there" - God.
