Buying a new Oddysey, unable to contact Sunpath
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in Gear and Rigging
Do you have a girlfriend? Does she sometimes go shopping for a purse? This Oddysey is for my girlfriend, see my point? "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio -

J, what if I would scan the order form, and send it to my dealer by mail, along with the picture from my first post? Would that work? "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio -
Buying a new Oddysey, unable to contact Sunpath
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in Gear and Rigging
Í want to order a new Oddysey like the day before yesterday, but I still have one problem with the colors. Help me out here! Look at the attached picture. I want to do a similar thing but with different colours. My problem is that you can only select one color for the bindings on the color selectors @ sunpath.com and square1.com I want to know how much three colors for the bindings will set me back but more importantly I want to know how to communicate this to Sunpath in a way that leaves no room for misinterpretation. If you don't see the problem yet I'll explain a bit more: (try to do this on a color-selector yourself and you'll rapidly find out what I mean) While you can only select one colour for the bindings on the available online color selectors, for what I want I need 3 colors of binding. Just so we are all talking in the same color-code, just assume I want to order the exact same colors as the picture. All around the nr.4 flap you want the binding to be black. Around the flap covering the reserve-pin you want the binding to be white, and the rest of the bindings (surrounding the red areas) you want in red. I sent an e-mail to sunpath a week ago but somehow they haven't replied yet. Maybe they're just not looking for customers... Any advice would be nice (he rhymed...) Anyway try to learn to fly your body around other people before you start flying your body around your head while flying around other people. Get yourself all the survival skills you can, make them your own. When occupied with the thing on to of your head, al the rest has to be in that same head and ready to be used in a split second. At the Gran canaria tunnel the instructors would flip kids over gently, show them where to put their arms, and then hold their feet. Sitflying like Zipz! Customs in and out of the USA
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
'We are now talking about the dutch customs, aren't we. I don't know how big the difference is between the checks on european flights and transatlantic ones. I took my rig on planes to France, Spain, the Canaries and even Morocco (not a part of the European union). Nobody ever gave the thing a second look. The good thing in buying used gear is that it looks... well .... used, so I guess I am not attracting specific attention, in that case only a truly "routine" check would be a potential problem. Do they let you take the rig as hand luggage both ways? "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio -

OK, clear! So what about coming to the States, buying used gear, going back to Amsterdam, anything I should know about that? "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio -
No mod's online... works every time. Just kidding, when replacing they can delete this one as well! As a European I'm not going to reply to any of your answers to the questions, wouldn't be right for some reason. But man am I curious! "Don't make me come down there" - God. I've been wanting to post these 2 question to all of the Americans in here for a while, but for some reason I haven't untill now, so here goes... How do you guys think that Europeans feel about the USA as it is today? How do you think Europeans react to the re-election of your president? Just curious I guess. We all know the world has changed since 9/11, and here in Europe we'll even have to get biometrical data on our passeports soon if we want to come to the states as from 2006 or something (will be great for Europeans when choosing a holliday destination, as from that point in time there is no way in hell that I am coming over anymore) (But anyway...) Suppose I want to go from Amsterdam to let's say Houston pretty soon (I'm not gay and am not bringing any drugs, that would be too obvious) for a few jumps and to take a look at a Shuttle launch or something. What do I need to know about customs in regard to my skydiving gear? Can I take my rig as handluggage? Do customs-people know that my Cypres is not capable of destroying a 747? Do I need special papers? Any advice would be nice. (By the way, sadly as it that I actually have to take this into account nowadays, but my appearance is very white - blond - blue eyes. and I am not taking any flying classes except the one's where I only use my body) "Don't make me come down there" - God. Just thought I'd mention that the camera seminar by Gustavo Cabana held at Empuriabrava (Spain) in the beginning of this month has been super! If you ever get a chance to catch one, take it, you see so many ugly situations on video, you'll be happy you've seen them! Tips and pointers on exits, openings and set-up will prove to be very usefull in the future. "Don't make me come down there" - God. Camerasuit / wear on container?
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in Photography and Video
Mostly I'm packing myself, and the packer I hire doesn't slide my container either. Good point on the gaffa's tape, very bad idea. I am thinking of having my rigger making sort of a cover for that part of the harness though. Jumped the new Javelin this weekend, actually I'm not so sad anymore that my old one is in the trash "Don't make me come down there" - God. Camerasuit / wear on container?
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in Photography and Video
Yep there also is wear on my camerasuit, but that's about 200 euro's, a container between 1500 and 2000... The laterals are doing that job for me as well, had to have it patched up last week with only 140 jumps on the suit. I did about 120 jumps on the container/camsuit combination. In total I have about 250 camerajumps up to now. (doubt the relevance but posting anyway). To explain more detailed, it seemed like something was slowly eating away the webbing, in some places already ate away the yellow line. This is the reason why my rigger told me to classify it vertically. Would it be OK to twist some gaffa's tape around the spot that has the most friction, or would that bring along other potential bad stuff? Can't post pictures of the wear on the container because the garbage-truck already took it! "Don't make me come down there" - God. Camerasuit / wear on container?
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in Photography and Video
I just bought a new second-hand javelin because my rigger told me my old container was not going to pass its next yearly check. The vertical webbing just underneath the reserve / cutaway handles was showing a lot of wear. Now last year that wasn't there, I'm 1000% sure. I started jumping a camera-suit this year (4-way and tandem) and I think the problem propably came due to friction between the wings and the webbing. Has anyone had this problem, and what can I do to minimalize this? "Don't make me come down there" - God. Accident by jumping the Atom millenium????
AiRpollUtiOn replied to markus71's topic in Gear and Rigging
It's protecting the reserve-flap. Someone at my club has got the same thing on her Atom (93'-ish) You see this kind of contraption on a lot of static-line containers as well, for obvious reasons.
