@ my old club we would all sleep in tents behind the clubhouse on weekends, and they would wake us up with a song by Queen, It's a beautifull day, the sun is shining... That would be the 45 minutes call for the first load, those were the days!!! (sadly some private-pilot-jackasses harassed us upto a point where our club couldn't exist there anymore, and now they are wondering why no-one comes in for a cup of coffee in the weekend. Would the by now have realised that it was all friends and family of tandempassengers and students that payed their bills???) "Don't make me come down there" - God. I can't say I can really understand all this, but I do see the point. What kind of info do I need for these wire transfers? By the way, I was just talking to my girlfriend and apparently when she does some internet-searching for potential sellers she gets tons of pages offering personal info on people for money, what is that all about??? See but that's a giant hassle for me, because I don't know anything about that! See the account number that's allready posted here has everything I need to pay and receive money here in Europe. I just want a way so I can go to my bank and say: send XXX USD or EURO or roebels to this number, have them type it in with the serious face they always pull and be done with it. Once my money is gone I can't get it back, so I have to be sure it goes to the right place. "Don't make me come down there" - God. 'What is a wire transfer? What is a routing number? I'm sorry for annoying you but as I have never had an account in the states, this is totally new for me. "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio

Here you go: 18.52.13.650 I'm not shitting you, that's my bank account number, and I can post it because the way it's set up here no-one can do anything with this information. (actually the only thing you can do is send me money, I don't mind that...) Tell me why you are scared to give it to anyone, what is the cause for that??? Understanding this would make it a lot easier to talk to a potential seller about the finance, because up to now we have been on the verge of buying a second-hand sabre 4 times here, everything settled, shipping covered, great deal untill payment comes up. I have money, you have a parachute I want, Fed-ex will be happy to bring the parachute to me, there's a whole online community here to speak to when you don't send me what you promissed, and I really want to pay you for your stuff, there's only one problem in this equasion! This frustrates the hell out of me! "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio

So instead of that everyone rather pays companies like VISA or Pay-pal??? Is it possible for me to send money from my account in Holland to your account in the States anyway? And what kind of information would I need? I guess he overreacted "a bit". "Don't make me come down there" - God. When my girlfriend sent someone an e-mail to inquire on buying a main chute here on DZ.com, she got a reply that looked like a hate-mail because she asked the guy for his personal bank account number. Here in Europe no-one can pull any stunts when they have my personal bank account number. For international transactions to your account you get an IBAN-number (international bank account number) and a bank identification code (BIC) with these data and your name and adress I can get money from my account to your account, but there isn't a way in hell that I can retract money from your account. What kind of personal accounts do you have??? I suspect that with your personal number and maybe name and adress I can get money out of your account. (there must be a reason why she gets e-mail saying "how f@#$% stupid do you think I am?") Any reply would be helpful because not knowing how you have to go about your banking makes it difficult for us to buy a second-hand chute from the Statez! Follow-up question: what is the best way to make a Europe to USA transaction for let's say a parachute found in the classifieds on DZ.com? "Don't make me come down there" - God. Being screwed by skydiving center

I am in a different country, and the owners of the centre live in a different country as the country where the centre is situated, and I am not living in the country I was born in... Makes things pretty difficult, doesn't it? "Don't make me come down there" - God. My site:http://www.skystudio.nl/video.html Some of my vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/TomSkyStudio -
Being screwed by skydiving center

That's a good motto to live by. I like the "give them 1 week to have money already in your account or you'll go public with their name" option. Even I'd do that one, and, well, I'm pretty nice and non-confrontational as a rule. A couple of months ago there was a similar thread about someone "buying" gear and not paying for it; he did go public with the name, and yes, he got his money. Thx for your reply Wendy, I would really love to have like 50 second opinions on this one, see this would be a pretty tough decision, seeing I don't wish bad things to any-one, and this would not be wishing for but providing bad publicity. What do you guys think of this, and is anyone able to find the tread that Wendy was talking about??? "Don't make me come down there" - God. Being screwed by skydiving center

In one way I wish I could, because once I get my money I'll spend a lot of it on skydiving anyway, but that club is a 5-hour flight away from where I live... That was a very good suggestion, but in this case sadly enough not really handy! On the other hand, I worked for that money, so I should be the one deciding what to do with it. When we sat down before I started working there no-one was talking about jump-tickets, we were talking about green ones! "Don't make me come down there" - God. How far into court do you get with 1000 euros, and how much time would it cost? It'll propably cost me more than it would bring me. Anyway, I'm still playing softball here, I still assume they will snap out of it soon, which is pretty naive (spelling suggestions are welcome), but I'd rather be someone like myself than someone like them... Being screwed by skydiving center
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well, actually in august 2004 I agreed on a settlement like that, they would pay me in 4 monthly terms, 250 euros each month. Nothing showed up on my bank account. In december they had a big event at the dropzone, and now I'll quote the DZM: "we made good money, so now we can pay everyone that we still owe money to, in 1 week I'll be home and I'll pay you" 2 weeks later (transactions can take time, i acknowledge that) there was still nothing on my bank account. I tried calling and calling, but they didn't pick up the phone. The only way I know to contact the DZO is to call the centre and ask one of the staff if they can get him on the phone for me. The staff doesn't know why I'm calling. Allthough the company claims to stand for high moral values, and corporate social responsibilities they fail to treat me as what I should be treated like, a guy who worked 6 days a week 14 hour days to try to get their centre running. This is coming straight of their website: At ....... we aim to base our activities on the principles of sustainable development, and believe that we can best achieve sustainable enterprise by creating the right balance between business growth, environmental protection and social stability. .........is a skydive centre with strong corporate values supporting not only our staff and clients, but also the local community and environment. Our Values: Full Transparency and communication Employee Motivation Strong Human and Environmental values reflecting the importance we attach to the Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Realizing and managing in a positive fashion the impact we have on the world around us. Preserving the social life and local heritage. I worked hard and what I claim is the shittiest salary ever taking those hours into account, but I try to be the honest one, and I claim nothing more than what was the deal. Man o man, it has ruined my monday-morning mood again! (Edited to put the website part in, it kinda struck me) "Don't make me come down there" - God. Same with goggles The tandemmaster can have my altimeter a couple of times, but he better bring his own goggles! I've seen a few tandemmasters without goggles this year (they asked me very nicely and I said no very nicely), they found it unpleasant but not bad enough to be a big risk for safety. I'm the one that is supposed to stay clear of the tandem, so I'm the one wearing glasses (MY glasses) "Don't make me come down there" - God. Being screwed by skydiving center
AiRpollUtiOn replied to AiRpollUtiOn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have worked for a skydiving center for about 6 months in 2003. At the moment I had to leave (there was no more plane at that time so no more work) the center still owed me 1000 euros in salary (about 1200-1300 dollars). I have been calling and e-mailing them for about 2 years now and even though they always tell me they're going to pay me, I never see any money. 3 weeks ago I got another confirmation that they would pay me in one week time, and when I try calling them now they don't pick up their phones. The club was new when they started and I was promissed to get a contract, but at the end of those 6 months, they didn't have that fixed yet. Ho do I get the money that I worked for??? Does anyone have any suggestions??? I know I should have been more carefull, but before all this I considdered the owners as my friends, which goes to show... About two months after I left they bought a new plane and restarted, and at the moment they're doing fine from all I hear. Would love some suggestions. Thx "Don't make me come down there" - God. I just got an e-mail from Kai Koerner, replacement is free of charge, they keep your old cutters and provide you with new ones. The value bit is open for personal interpretation, if you see a 2nd hand cypres with a guillotine 2 much or 2 few and Airtec replaces it for you so you can use it, you have a good deal. I think it's excellent customer support. And now for the shamefull bit, both units are 1-pin after all so there was no need for panic! This thread was educational anyway! Thx for the rapid responses. The old ones from 92 The new ones from 97 and 99 You really have to see the video in the second link, the language is great. It does show that swapping from 1- to 2-pin is possible. I'm looking at buying 2 cypresses from a friend of mine, problem is that I think that he has 2 2-pin cypresses, and I have 2 Javelins (1-pin) Can I (read: my rigger) just take away the 2-pin field replacable cutters and replace them with my old 1-pin ones? From this webpage I think I can assume the answer is yes, or is it??? http://www.cypres.cc/Sites/englisch/Frameset_engl_products.htm "Don't make me come down there" - God. If you manage to keep your head straight, yes it is, if it is in line with your neck and spine, the weight will feel the same. If you don't manage to keep your neck straight, an increase in distance between neck -pivot point- and camera - weight- will result in an increase in AUCH!!!! Sidemounts have an advantage in this aspect. A good opening procedure helps you to keep the weight centered, and increases the camera-flying lifespan of your neck. (my drill is: get into a sort of knee-flying position looking straight forward about 2 milliseconds after I released my pilot-chute, looking at your opening is nice, and gives you nice footage, but can hurt like hell. Looking forward leaves you like a blind person while your main is opening, so you have to try to feel what is happening, if it takes too long you can always look up anyway) 938, why not get a helmet made for cameraflying, it doesn't have to be all that expensive to be safe and strong! I can imagine this one falling of your head on opening (my girlfriend lost a Z3 without extra weight on opening), and when BASE-jumping you should always want to keep the helmet on your head 'till after landing... *editted twice since my english spelling sucks big-time* *and a third time since the 2nd editting sucked!* "Don't make me come down there" - God.
