  1. Better to phase in driving on the left. For the first year only trucks and buses should drive on the left I say start with the lawyers. 2. So are RAM air parachutes. And piston aircraft. Come to think of it. How old is the otter design? "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  3. I've never done more than a pull test with my calibrated hands. There are a number of ways to screw them up, one I even found after 2 master riggers assembled and I&Red the rig twice. That's what sealed the deal for me to get my ticket. It probably would've been fine.... I'd jump test them if I had less on my plate, but that ain't happening for a while. 4. To Echo Eric: It looks a LOT like an oversized Wings rig, has handle locations familiar to SIGMA instructors but the handles are switched. The left hand release is a back up and reminds me much of a RSL in that it's a handle with a short lanyard that has a ring at the end. The drogue release cable is routed thru the ring. The harness for the student is very SIGMA like, they went thru a couple revisions but they (seem to) believe that UPT had it right on the harness and attachment point locations. There is a bungee and a closing loop, it's not terribly difficult to close, VERY SDH like, but just different enough to put your packers thru a good 20 mins of inspecting and packing info. Reserve is a partially exposed PC (like I said, it's a big Wings rig), I believe the size is around the 360 range. The main will come with one (think of SDH) or two toggle systems (think of a SIGMA with the flare toggles) and from last I heard, they're even going to be doing magnetic riser covers (much to their dismay). 5. You mean the HALO qualified guys on ST6? "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  6. For tandem jumps, that is what I would expect, but allowing minors for AFF and static line jumps is common, isn't it? That's another can of worms that many DZ's don't like opening. I don't know of any in FL that will take a 17 year old AFF or SL. I guess most DZO's just don't want the risk. 8. Ah yes, I've noticed that too. But mostly the emoticon tags. I do so LUV watching people try so hard to not use the browser that is built into the operating system they use. TEE HEE I am currently using Internet Explorer 10.. and have been for quite a while.. no issues of any kind at all Until IE takes over Android, iOS devices, Linux/Unix and MacOS... then it's not really a solution worth debating "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  9. The one that bugged me this morning was in Firefox/Safari when replying to a PM, using any of the faces or tags (code, reply, quote, bold...) kicked that to the end of the message instead of where the cursor is. 10. I meant what bugs do you find with this site, and which browser? "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

  12. I know there are several bugs with this site in say Firefox or Safari but aren't present in IE. My poll is basically, is there a bunch of us using other than IE? I just want to know before I start investing time in trying to find/fix them if most people are on IE. Also, what bugs do you find most annoying and which browser? I'm kind of bored. 13. Or just happen to cut down a tree not noticing that the drone has crashed in the tree's path. Sorry dude, just trying to get some fire wood. What was that drone doing here anyways? 14. Find a guy that knows how to build an RF jammer. Something low power so you don't piss the FCC off, with a highly directional antenna should give you the nice focused beam to push low power and a high concentration. Get a spectrum analyzer out and get the frequency the quad is using. Jam the fuck out of it. (or adapt another controller to take control of it). Should give those guys a clear message without causing any substantial damages. If they're on private property then it can easily become a game of 'your baseball landed in my yard'. 15. I wouldn't consider that a very reliable form of measurement. To answer your previous question, I fall at the same speed, just seems MUCH longer when it's fucking freezing. 16. Same plane, new paint. If ya get a chance, I'd like to see how the 'rattler' came out. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  17. We just had one at Skydive Tampa on Saturday. Check their facebook page and keep an eye for updates. We might be able to get it more often. 18. Yeah, watch out for that and air mattresses. I have heard how people will go buy them for a boogie and then return them at the end. 19. Working on it.... The insurance requirement for a turbine from the County is insanely high. But if the business is there, then an aircraft will not be an issue. Some relation, not going to go int detail but the DZ's will share some staff as needed. It is a very friendly relationship which is nice for DZ's so close to each other. Such a good relationship that Lakeside needed TI's and two Airglades TI's hopped into a private plane and flew over to help out in the middle of the day. Big things are happening at Skydive Air Adventures and Skydive Lakeside is a part of that. I believe they're running the yellow 206? Glad to hear they're getting the DZ going out there. I know the pilot of that plane was amped to get started there. 21. you haven't factored in service and costs into your little money making scenario Your right, i figured maintenance is a known. So what would you add the maintence cost at for 2000 jumps? Subtract that from 15000. Even after cost if you only made 5000 and a tandem rig, i think thats a good outcome considering you were making those 2000 tandem jumps regardless. So make 2000 tandems on dz gear and make average pay, or make those same 2000 tandems and have an extra 5000 and your own personal tandem rig at the end along with your average pay. To some people who skydive as a career , it makes sense. Now add in that you bought a vigil and are your own rigger and you can come out pretty good. I own my own tandem rig, am my own rigger and my rig has a Vigil2 in it. Huge potential downside is if it gets chopped (I rent my gear to the DZ some times when they don't have enough on line), then I'm out for a drogue, disk, bridle, d-bag, main, risers and possibly the freebag assembly... Until it's found (if ever). If that happened, I'd part out what's left and hope I didn't end up too far in the hole. 2000 jumps would probably be looking at a main line set or two, couple drogue kill lines, couple main closing loops, 3 or so drogues. Easily $2500. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  22. It is quicker only for stowing the lines. Everything else about your pack job will not be effected. (Except replacing all the broken rubber bands as there are only 2 on most designs) I would think it's probably going to be a V350 bag, however I suggest calling UPT and talking to them with your current container information (Icon I? size) and they will help you out with getting the right one. There should be no issues using this bag in your container. To order it, I believe is $120 (plus tax and shipping) "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  23. Is the new UPT building already staffed and fully oprerational (as in sewing rigs)? Yep. Production is up about 25% already...aiming for 50%. Slight tangent here, but where's the new building, Bill? Chuck Blue, D-12501 Right behind the old one if I recall correctly.
