  1. If it's rain/snow and it doesn't make its full sweep, it wouldn't be surprising that it could limit your view. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  2. Many, many pilots have made that mistake. There was just another Cirrus CAPS deployment and crash last week. http://www.flyingmag.com/technique/accidents/cirrus-sr22-crashes-connecticut Sounds like they ran outta gas on final. It's fucking amazing that there are THIS many forced landings without power because people forget to put enough gas in the damn plane or try to push their luck. Also, makes houses near airport runways seem less and less attractive. Never know when someone will come crash on your couch. 4. Oddly enough, he is making tons of semi stowless d-bags... I've even heard of a semi-stowless bag on a SIGMA tandem rig. 5. Run some numbers: An AFF Cat B jump costs ya $195 Let's break it down: Instructors pay: I'm guessing probably $40 each, so we're down to $115 Slots: $25/each times 3. and we're down to $40 Gear rental: $23/jump. That takes us down to $17 going to the dz. Real money maker AFF students are. 6. I disagree. How was your dive plan, exit and canopy separation, and landing? You disagree with Pops? I am 100% behind him on this. 7. Gotcha. Yes, commercial aviation, last I heard, was about 20 times safer than driving. But private pilots and skydivers like to tell themselves that the most dangerous thing is the drive to the airport. I don't think so. Hell, I'm building an airplane, that I will be the test pilot for its first flight. I'd think that's way more dangerous than driving to the damn airport. 8. I like my coffee like I like my women. Hot, rich and thrown in a sack in the back of a truck by a Colombian this morning. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

  10. Mine started doing that as well, I've narrowed it down to probably timing and possibly needle bar depth, I think one of the metal pieces broke and just haven't gotten around to trying to order it. 11. SIM Section 3-1 If you can show me how you're able to record the signature for each jump on your phone, maybe... but don't count on everyone accepting it. For my instructor courses, I had to show them my logbook showing freefall time/total jumps. 12. Don't worry about the explosive in your AAD cutter, that's realistically insignificant in that aspect. How long is your tour going to be? I had a couple who left to Korea just leave their rigs with me (good friends) and I'll get them ready to go when they're ready to come jump. 13. Just imagine if they required the same level of training and specific requirements for drivers license holders and vehicles. 14. When it's sold, it is part of the assembly that you normally get, however most containers have no TSO'd main components. Usually it's just the harness and reserve container (including freebag and PC) that hold TSOs. You could tie a bedsheet to your harness rings (the 3 ring ones) and jump it all you want, so long as the reserve is legal and you intend to land the 'main', you're fine. So you're saying the main container itself is not part of the TSO and as far as the FAA is concerned, a certified rigger is not required for work performed on it? Emphasis mine. ETA: I am NOT saying it's a good idea for every Joe Jumper out there to go start sewing shit to their assembly without some rigger input/overwatch. 16. Nah, that was an AAD fire. No dbag/pc hanging off the end, no pull, and right off the ground. "I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message
  17. They invaded the area this week, lots of gunfire/cannons going off downtown. Didn't seem to help shorten the line at the Taco Bus though. 18. That depends who ya ask really. Anyone can legally make their own (main d-bag) and go jump it, there's no limitation on it being a non TSO'd item. 19. One could also just sew that to the deployment bag. It would be much easier than trying to safely sew it inside of a container. 23. One of my first paid tandems was a bigger guy, freefall he was fine, had no issues under canopy, until about 1000'... He went completely limp. NS,TIW in the pattern trying to figure out how to get this guy down safely, couldn't get his legs up, didn't want to slide him in on his face, what's a guy to do? I tried patting, yelling at him, nothing, just completely limp... He comes to at just under 100' and I immediately have him lift his legs and slid him in. Then he proceeded to tell me he was just relaxing, and that he had not passed out. Sure buddy, keep telling yourself that... 25. Worst reason for downsizing that I've ever seen. I highly doubt that there was nobody willing to sit down with you and help you out at any of those dropzones, especially if they saw how you were flying.
