You have to use an Apple approved container, reserve and an AAD running iOS 4 at the minimum. If it malfunctions, you have to take it to a 'Genius' that doesn't know anything about it that's not covered in the troubleshooting book. Not to mention the repack will cost $300 because "There's less Apple Genius' than there are FAA riggers." Demand is high! You can only order 2 colors, black and white. A dumbass engineer would leave the new unreleased rig sitting on a barstool in a bar. The rigger group would pay dozens of times its value just to get their hands on it and reverse engineer it so they could 'repack' it with unauthorized items. Alright, how do all of you IAD instructors keep current at a turbine dz that runs mostly tandem/AFF? I could probably get into an IAD course, but if I can't keep it current, its really just wasting a bunch of cash for something that I wont use much/at all. Do any of the bigger multi-turbine DZ's do any IAD work, if so, which ones? Dont buy gear yet, you dont even know what you want! Your gear for your training jumps should be provided and large enough to compensate for 'less than perfect' landings, once you get a few jumps under your belt, ask around at the dz as to whats a good deal and what kind of gear you should get. Take it slow, you dont want to drop a few grand on gear, only to find out its not what you want, or safe for you to jump for a while. Oh, and unless you gotta cash cow in the back yard, dont buy new, as you'll probably want to change gear in 1-200 jumps and with a good deal on used gear, you can get almost all of your money back from re-selling that gear.
