  1. Wow! That's a hard one to swallow. It definately brings to truth the rumor. Thanks for that. Chuck
  2. Right along similar lines of what the Viet Nam grunts were thinking about the first shipments of the M16.... "I'm not sure I want my ass to depend on a weapon that's going to jam if you look at it wrong....for your asses sake, keep it clean even if you're in the middle of a rice paddy." I heard for years that the Viet Nam War was really a testing ground for new weapons the military had come-out with. I never have found truth in that. Chuck
  3. I think, it's mandatory that every Sheriff in each of our 254 counties, that there be some form of John Wayne memrabilia in their office! Chuck
  4. QuoteI'm tellin ya - Stephen Colbert. He's funny, he is as conservative as they come on TV, and he's smart enough to make a lot of money _without_ having to get people to vote for him.[/reply Stephen Colbert is not a conservative in real life. He just 'puts-on' for his t.v. show. He's actually an 'independant'. He at one time described himself as a democrat. He says he has nothing against republicans, just their policies. Chuck
  5. I want to see that bullet hit something, damn it. I love blowin' shit up! Chuck
  6. I saw that episode. Good stuff. Not to mis-lead but I might mention that beer and guns are occasionally used but just not together. Rog is not a rocket scientist but he is really smart. Brings a few laughs, too. 'Rocket City Rednecks' is educational, too. Chuck
  7. Plus, she brings a lot of class to this thread. You're just gonna have to watch it. It's a hoot! Chuck
  8. Once again, you're amazing! Great job! Thank you, M'am. Chuck
  9. Silly me! I thought I'd try to lighten things up around here. No, they don't shoot bottle-rockets out of their butts! The one guy is a real rocket scientist and works in the aerospace industry in Huntsville, Alabama. His dad worked on the Appollo series. They have a couple friends they get together with and build stuff out of things found around the hous or hardware store. They do build rockets, submarines, jet powered boats... all kinds of stuff. There's a lot of humor thrown in but nothing really stupid. Check it out! Chuck
  10. I don't know if that is a lesser adrenaline sport. How many grounds try to gore you after you have landed on it? Might depend on where you land! Chuck Ain't that the truth! I've run from a few bulls in my time. The hard part is getting through the barb wire fence w/o ripping your canopy. Yes M'am! I landed in the middle of a highway (real bad spot) in front of a DPS cop! Fortunately, he saw me and turned on his top lights and slowed down. Behind him were three cattle haulers. The cop was really cool about it. I explained the situation and he offered me a ride back to the DZ. the cattle haulers blew their air-horns as they passed by. Chuck
  11. I don't know if that is a lesser adrenaline sport. How many grounds try to gore you after you have landed on it? Anyone remember Bodacious? Might depend on where you land! Yes, I do remember Bodacious! He's the reason Tuff Hedeman got a new face! Bodacious died in his pasture of an infected hoof that noone knew about. Chuck

Professional sports is nuts. In 1986 I attended game #1 and game #2 of the Stanley Cup finals and paid $10 for my tickets for each game (granted they were not the best seats). In our modern world you are paying a minimum of $200 for the same "crappy seats" to the finals. Did you by any chance read about the contract the California Angels offered Albert Pujols? It took weeks for lawyers to work-out before Pujols would agree to it. Chuck

Some guys stop the game to have a prayer session, other guys keep their gun in the waist band of their sweat pants and shoot themselves in the leg. Whatcha gonna do? Just a couple reasons they get the BIG-bucks! It's nuts! Meanwhile, ticket prices rise and rise and... Chuck
  14. Not really...science is becomming more like religion these days. ...and we all know that rednecks are just poor republicans. Thanks! I feel better, now. That show is pretty interesting, educational and gives a whole nother view of folks from the South. In this case, Alabama. Chuck

Football is a team game. You could have the best QB in the history of the game on your team and he will still look like a goat if the offensive line is not getting the job done, the receivers are not getting open and if there is no running game to take the pressure off of the passer. On top of that, the best QB in the history of the game can do nothing when the other team's offense is on the field shredding your defense play after play. Throw in the fact that Tebow is only a 2nd year QB in the league and no where near the best and nobody should be surprised that the better team (New England) won last night. Ya' got me! It appears, the media found something to blow out of proportion. Nothing new there. Chuck
  17. Anyone watch it on NatGeo? It'll give you a whole different view of Red Necks. It's funny, too. I think, I screwed-up. This should be in BF! Chuck

Like all the end-zone shit... weird dances, cell-phone calls. they think they're some kind of entertainers or something. Tebow openly expresses his beliefs and everybody goes nuts. Football in general is over-hyped. Chuck

  20. See now...THAT is why I don't understand all the NO votes. I don't get it. Well, there IS some commonality there.... I don't "get" the votes and I won't get her either. I like the 'look'... especially if they're driving a dually! Chuck
  21. I respectfully disagree. I think, on balance, that it's a net benefit. While I agree that the President's and governors' pardon authority can sometimes be abused, the framers of the US and various state constitutions put that in there for a reason, after a lot of complicated and often contentious hashing out of the pros, cons and competing agendas. There are times when a conviction seems terribly unjust, but yet is affirmed on appeal. There are times when a conviction is quite fair, but the sentence is unreasonably harsh; yet it is affirmed on appeal. There are times when a person's conviction and sentence were reasonable when issued, but years later the person becomes deserving of clemency. There are times when a person stands in jeopardy of criminal charges, where the prosecutors and judiciary would be duty-bound to do what they have to do, but the Executive feels that the good of the people is best served by avoiding a prosecution (example: Ford's preemptive pardon of Nixon). In each of those cases, there is no further remedy to be had in the judicial branch (and the legislature is powerless to act), so the only remedy available is by the Executive's authority to issue pardons and commutations. Government is messy and imperfect. Every branch of government, and its agents, can overstep their bounds and exercise their respective powers imprudently. Hopefully, though, the benefit that comes from those powers being exercised properly most of the time outweighs the detriment from them being abused occasionally. I heard the other day on NPR that these pardons by the Gov. of Mississippi are all up for review. Chuck
  22. Thailand bailed-out the U.S.? When did that happen? Chuck
  23. Mark was responsible for me buying my first Talon (#284). He taught me to skydive at Parachutes & Associates in Frankfurt, Indiana in 1985. When I was ready to order my first rig I asked for his advice and he suggested this new rig called a Talon. When I asked if it was a good choice, he told me a bit about Sandy and his abilities, and said he already had a Talon on order, sight unseen. That was enough for me, and Sandy and his terrific wife Brenda and wonderful crew at R.I. have continued to impress me ever since. Sandy and Brenda do run an excellent business. They're both straight-up and honest. Wonderful people! Mark was a heckuva guy. After I attended USAPR, we stayed in contact, mostly by e-mail. When he got his horses, we talked horses. He was a multi-talented guy and great sense of humor. He'd always stop by on his way back to Dallas from Eloy and we'd have breakfast and get to visit. Just an all-around good-good guy! Chuck
