Anyone here know the range of .45 Long Colt ammo, 250 grain bullet, fired from a lever action rifle with a 24" barrel? I've searched and searched and came-up empty. Thanks! Chuck

And I believe that she had a twin sister named Ina or something I cannot remember. Heard the story of Ima back in the 70's. JerryBaumchen It was rumored that she had a sister 'Ura'. In fact, she only had brothers. Chuck

Hello RIGGER! I've seen where over time and use, the hot-knifed edge would show signs of fraying. In my little mind, I felt that folding the tape over would solve the problem. It takes a bit more time and I never found a problem with it. As I mentioned, I had seen it done on parachutes. Thanks for bringing this subject to everyone's attention. Chuck
-
I went back and 'really' looked at the picture that Rigger posted. You're right! In this case, folding the tape over would not help. Thanks for pointing this out. Chuck
-
I have seen these tapes folded in and bar-tacked so that no tape end is showing. When replacing line attachment tapes, that's the way I've done it. Chuck

http://www.commondreams.org/headline/2012/01/03-7 Well, there you are again, with your wealth of insight into Israeli and US government most inner workings. But from Craig Brown.....??? From Common Dreams site..... Brown managed the Congressional campaigns of former US Rep. Tom Andrews of Maine. Brown then served as Chief-of-Staff to Congressman Andrews in Washington for Andrews' two-terms in the US House. 1991 That's the basis of from where you make your conclusions AND gain your inside knowledge of Israeli and US international policies?? Craig Brown... A radical, left winger who hasn't had any connection to the inner working of the US government in over 20 years?? Dr. Gareth Porter... ? Don't even go there.... Come on, DD... You're better than this. No, he is not. This is one of his favorite links for all his arguments, any good info comes from those who, either agree or disagree, with him but use better sites. The only thing he does well is start a topic of discussion. Matt Is there a point here to agree or disagree with? DD a Troll? DD occasionally, ( OK....... rarely) responds with.....something.... that is on topic, before he goes off topic. Ignorance we can fix. Stupidity is........ DD is not stupid. No he is not stupid, but yes he does troll, he does not "argue" well and is usually just poking at people, what he does do is get a topic of discussion rolling. Matt Agreed.... Well stated. But rolling in which direction? Up hill, down hill? Skidding sideways in to the neighbors parked car? It must be that monarchy thing. Ya think? He doesn't seem to have a real thought of his own. His responses are primarily a cut & paste of something from some off-the-wall media source. He comes just shy of personal attacks... even our mods aren't safe! I refuse to respond to him. Chuck

In the area where I live, it's all volunteer fire fighters. With 'grants' and the help of the Texas Forest Service and U.S Forest Service, our fire fighters recieve their education and certification. We also took posession of a new 'foamer' truck, this past summer. Just in time for the numerous wildfires we experienced here in Texas. After the smoke and ashes cleared, the donations poured-in! No non-certified fire fighters were allowed near the front lines but there was plenty for the rest of us to do 'behind the scenes'. We can't say enough good about the men and women volunteers from all over this nation who worked hard to save our homes and property. Chuck

Wall Street protesters to occupy foreclosed homes
masterrig replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
If they break the law, then do so. However, remember that the taxpayers are going to have to foot the bill for the pest control guys to delouse and clean the place up after the OWS-ers have gone. Good point. Come to think of it, there's no law against being stupid! then too, if, they are occupying foreclosed houses, they're trespassing. Do like they do with sheep when they dip them for ticks! Chuck Jezuz Krist........!! A sheep dip for hippies.!! Why not! They want to act like animals, treat them like one. Chuck -

Put all the OWSers in jail! Then, they'll have just what they want... three hots and a cot and they don't have to work for it! -
Negative. The people we vote for often do things contrary to what they said they would do, or respond to new situations that didn't exist at the time they ran for office, in ways of which we don't approve. Just because we vote for them doesn't mean that we can predict how they'll respond to everything in the future. It's pretty easy to predict that the bozo you voted for is going to: - do things contrary to what they said they would do, and - respond to new situations that didn't exist at the time they ran for office, in ways of which we don't approve. Ergo, we get what we deserve/voted for. That's why I liked Pigasus. He made no promises other than to "Oink" at the legislators and shit on the Oval Office floor. Who say's pigs are 'dum animals'? You mentioned Perry and his highway construction. Perry, along with the former State Speaker of the House, Tom Craddick, pushed to build highways from Mexico to Dallas. These highways were to pass through small towns. Town meetings were held to hear both sides and citizens of these small towns didn't want all that heavy truck traffic bringing more Chinese crap into this country, rolling through their towns. Road construction was not to procede or start till an agreement was reached with the public. Construction of La Entrada al Pacifico continued while the town meetings were being held. Also, ranchers lost portions of their land and we got that highway in spite of everything. I think that Perry is sneaking and out for himself and his cronies. Also, that constant smirk on his face doesn't help any. Chuck

Wall Street protesters to occupy foreclosed homes
masterrig replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
This is the first I've heard of a 'group' taking over foreclosed homes. This action by the 'occupiers' is just further proof of what low-life, creeps they are. It's what I call an 'empty' movement. Pointless and baseless. Those people have too much 'free' time. Chuck -
He wasn't a "spy" in the definition of theater, but he was Military Intelligence. His job description involves using collected information to put together intel packages or collecting intel himself. This requirement demands some serious clearance levels and puts a wide reaching spread for "need to know" among many facets. It was easy for him because of this. Other MOS, NEC, ect. . . may not require as much need to know, but same level of clearance. For his accomplices, if they are civillian, I believe they have to show espionage to get any charges. I'm sure there are specific, accepted legal definitions of "spy", "espionage", etc. But I would think that a spy is someone who works for say, "A", and whose job it is to gather intelligence from "B". He can do this by directly stealing documents, files, etc. himself, or by intercepting communications, etc. This guy might be considered an honorable patriot by "A". Sometimes he can convince someone who has been placed in a position of trust by "B" to commit a treasonous act and steal the info for him. This second guy is considered a traitor by "B" and might be considered an untrustworthy POS by "A", too. They already know that his sworn allegiance is for sale. I don't believe espionage was an attempt here. Just an idiot whose "fight" was ill placed and intentions irresponsible and dangerous. He's definitely no John Walker, but his damage is costly diplomatically, financially and operationally. no damage has been shown to be done to the us - read the title of the thread. after manning they will go after assange of course...[/reply D'ya really think they'll go after them? I've lost count of the number of times you've said that. Chuck

Good. Then those idiots can go to jail, too. I think, they should let all those occupier dead-beats take-over all those foreclosed houses. Then, they'll all be in one wad and the police can keep a better eye on them! Chuck -
Let Your Life Be a Counter-Friction to Stop the Machine
masterrig replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
or he might not. and it was his job choice. i know many people who have died skydiving. we don't all equip ourselves with 3 reserves and half a dozen aads... What a ridiculous statement and total lack of reality. You have no idea what things would be like without police. Crime is high enough as it is. You bet, that police officer chose that career. He was trying to do something positive and try to keep some semblence of order in his community. The same goes for thousands of other police officers. Your total disregard for his life and occupation is out of line. There is no free Bubble-up! Chuck
