  1. So white head & tail on an eagle is like the bottom rocker on a biker. Ya know, I was thinking that exact thing, but decided not to go there. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  2. Well, Elton John has told Trump to stop using his (EJ's) music at the campaign events. Adele filed a Cease & Desist earlier this week. And, of course, Trump and his campaign have not obtained legal permission (as in paying royalties) to use it. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 3. ^This. I'm not an expert, but a reasonably informed amateur. Short version: The white head & tail indicate that it's an adult and is claiming territory. Until it has the white, other Bald Eagles will let it stay in their territories without challenge. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 4. Well, somebody phoned in a bomb threat to Manitowoc County. http://wbay.com/2016/02/03/2-bomb-threats-confirmed-at-manitowoc-county/ "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  5. Agreed. He's at least perfectly consistent, and you always know exactly what he's going to post. This is a good example of his craft; a post slamming Democrats anyone who disagrees with him that is inflammatory, angry - and incorrect. FIFY
  6. After a couple PMs, I'm going to be sending him an old Wonderhog II with a National Phantom 26'.

  8. Are you looking for a round in a pilot emergency bailout rig? Or an old round reserve in a sport rig? The first is actually fairly common. Acrobatic pilots (both power and glider) use them. So do 182 jump plane pilots (one of the STC reqs is that everyone on board have a rig on). The second, not so much. I think I know one or two jumpers who have rigs so old that they still have a round reserve in them. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 9. Or the people complaining could become... Oh, I don't know... Paying members? I'm part of a couple on-line boards. The ones run by "Internet Brands" (IB) are all "pay-to-play". Limited access (like to the "off topic" stull - similar to BF & SC), limited picture posting, no ability to post for sale ads and limited access to see them. This place runs older, but still standard, technology. But it's full access for free. I'm not complaining. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 10. I'm not following you. Teams usually have identical suits because they are a "team." Bigway stuff will often have specific colors for specific areas in the formation. Black is stupid popular. The style (design and construction, not colors) is dictated by the environment. Belly suits are all similar (as are FF suits) because they need to do specific things in the air. At freefall speeds (and especially at FF speeds) having extraneous "dangly" stuff will cause issues. But beyond that, it's a free for all. The colors & patterns are whatever anyone wants. Simon "Bones" has his skeleton suit. Chris Goller (gearless Chris) has his checkered flag suit (or at least used to), Roberta Mancino had a pretty cool black suit with green red & yellow trim (and a rig to match). Bright colors and goofy patterns make spotting your formation slot easier (unlike when everyone around you is wearing black). DaKine Rags made some suits out of some really unique and interesting fabric patterns. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 11. One thing that happens under great stress is "tunnel vision". You focus on the threat and little else. That sort of "ignore the background" behavior is not unusual. And explosions in real time are no where near as impressive as in slow motion (unless you are actually there for it). Although I may change my mind if more info comes out, I'm probably going to give the cops the benefit of the doubt on this one. He had clearly stated that he'd rather die than go to jail. He clearly stated he would shoot back. When you "telegraph a punch" that clearly, I don't blame the cops for shooting at the first sign of a hostile action. Or interpreting an action as hostile when it may or may not have been. This isn't some poor motorist moving too quickly for his registration, or even some dumb fool fighting and trying to run away because he has a warrant. 12. What in particular is "wrong" with the fashion? Keep in mind that new jumpsuits are custom made and can be (and are) made with any color combination that the buyer wants. Used is kind of a "you get what the last guy got" and can be... Questionable. I have a Tony with neon green (or at least it used to be) grippers on the arms and legs. Not the most stylish, but easy to spot in the formation and I can pick myself out in pics with minimal effort. Keep in mind that form follows function. They allow a jumper to adjust fall rate (tight & slick goes fast, baggy & rough fabric goes slower), they provide places to grab onto (grippers), they give a significantly higher amount of control in the air and they offer a lot more protection in case of bad landings (more than you will believe until you find out personally). Some of the "goofy" color combinations make seeing someone in freefall a lot easier. That's a plus when you are going for a slot in a larger formation (as opposed to everyone in all black) and they make collision avoidance at breakoff easier (as opposed to "bounce & blend" camo). The level of control is a lot more than some people realize. I'm not talking about booties, which give a hell of a lot more drive when used properly. I'm talking about basic ability to fly. SDC Summerfest is a fairly big boogie outside Chicago. One of the more interesting jumps is the "Sunset, no jumpsuit BFR (Big Fucking Round)". Sounds simple, right? 20 or so out of the plane, build one point. Rob offers beer for the load if it completes. He's never had to buy. God Save the Queen. 13. Most of us have heard of Bansky, the urban artist. Well, now there's Wanksy. He's in Manchester, and he paints phalluses around potholes. And it works. They get filled. My favorite quote is from a local councilman: Yet they don't seem to clean the paint up at all, in the pics, the holes are filled, and the paint is partially covered with the patch, but it isn't cleaned off or removed. 14. A quick search found THIS. Interesting discussion. Apparently, the DC-3 has a swept wing (although it isn't really obvious). Which leads to "interesting" stall behavior. Some of the first hand experiences related in the link are... Interesting. The catastrophic engine failure at the end must have been exciting too. 15. Only one really mattered. Two of the engineers that were closely involved with the SRBs at M-T told their superiors and NASA heads that the O-rings wouldn't seal properly in the cold weather and that the risk of a catastrophic failure was very real. They were ignored. One of them "came out" today. I heard the story without catching that it was the anniversary. 16. In some states that is already the case. (at least the same classification as or higher than a DWI) From memory, so with a grain of salt... in TX first offense DWI is a class B misdemeanor while carrying your handgun while concealed is a class A misdemeanor and results in losing your license to carry for several years. The second offense DWI is a class A. Also a Class A misdemeanor in Wisconsin to carry a gun when intoxicated. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 17. Yup. Actually happened locally recently. Hostage situation, one of the hostages exited the building holding a gun. Cops shot him. He's dead. Whether or not they demanded he drop the gun, whether or not they gave him enough time to hear and react, whether or not they gave adequate aid at the scene is all being argued out and investigated. But anyone who starts running around playing hero during any sort of Active Shooter situation is taking a huge risk. Most of the people I trust have always used the 'run, hide, fight' reaction as a good plan for civilians. Gun or no gun. And if you run, with no threat visible, don't pull the gun out. 18. I don't know. If the state or county wants him gone, why didn't they arrest him? Why didn't the Feds? Why can those idiots come and go as they please? "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  19. How? Honest question. What steps would you take to resolve this? Frontal assault? That's what they want (or at least that's what they act like they want). Lots of gunfire and casualties, damage to the building and grounds, medical bills and law suits that would make the $100k cost look like pennies fast. We operate on a "TV schedule". We want to see a resolution in a timely fashion. Look at Waco. Look at the SLA shootout/fire in LA back in the 70s. I'd go for the "siege" plan myself. Cut them off completely, no traffic in or out, not even dildos or lube. No power, no water. Anyone going in is arrested. Anyone coming out is arrested. For a nice "extra", put liens for the costs of the operation on their property "back home", where ever that may be. Do stuff like suspend car registrations for any cars in their name. If they want to rebel against the government, let them. But put the full force of the government bureaucracy on them. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 20. I was kidding, that's what the "" meant. I know what it is, but I haven't heard of anyone doing it for a while. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Lucky McSwervy "~ya don't GET old by being weak & stupid!" - Airtwardo
  21. I have seen a few gunshot wounds and none of them and none that I have heard of were not controllable with direct pressure. The ones I saw didn't bleed externally enough to even require gauze. The military has apparently played with the idea and a device called XStat has been approved for use, but it is far from a tampon in actual function. The bottom line is direct pressure. The second bottom line is don't shove anything into a puncture wound. I spent about an hour looking for scientific literature on the use of tampons (or anything else) to plug a hole to stop bleeding, I found none. I also looked for scientific literature on the use of XStat, found very little and none on use on humans. (Basically they just established, yes it does absorb blood and isn't inherently toxic). But Xstat has limitations, it has to be removed within 4 hours, can only be used on extremities and the armpit or groin. As far as I can tell the tampon in a bullet hole is an anecdote from an unknown number of nameless medics in the military. I have no doubt that it has been tried, but it apparently hasn't been evaluated by any medical authority. It is also not part of any EMS training I am aware of, not to include military who's medic training I have very limited knowledge of. Not the "ladies sanitary product" that came to my mind. The "other ones" are large, sterile (presumably), absorbent pads. Perfect for applying direct pressure to a serious wound. My ex-wife had a habit of carrying one or two in the glove box or center console of her car. I never minded if she put one in mine. I even carried one in a pocket on my motorcycle jacket. Having a band aid is "nice" but pretty useless in the event of a serious injury. Having a sanitary pad handy could, under the right (or wrong) circumstances, save someone's life. 22. Not really. An A license is good to go for most normal jumps. No limits on who or how many other (licensed) jumpers with you, no rules on Freeflying, Canopies or cameras (recommendations, not rules), minimums for wingsuiting but that's about it. Special stuff like demos or high altitude jumps have requirements for advanced licenses. Helicopter and balloon jumps often have advanced license requirements, but those are put in place by the organizer/DZO, not USPA. What's "Skysurfing"? 23. This stuff is all in the USPA SIM. Link: http://www.uspa.org/Safety-Training/SIM Short version: AFF is one way of reaching "self supervised student" status. It gets you to the point where you can do solo jumps, but you are still under an instructor's direction. You are also required to meet certain objectives and demonstrate certain skills before you get your A license. Much of this involves jumping with an instructor or coach. Best analogy would be a learners permit for a driver's license. There is the A license progression card. (It's in the SIM). It needs to be completed to receive your A. A license makes you a "real" skydiver. You can jump with others or by yourself. You can go to other DZs and jump there. If you want an idea of what AFF and the A license progression is like, read the story of the Skydiving Duck "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 24. I think it was the Daily Show that suggested that the dildos were so that the militia guys could go fuck themselves. And on a more serious note: It seems like the militia has little or no regard for Native artifacts. You know, the people who were on the land to begin with. http://indiancountrytodaymedianetwork.com/2016/01/19/oregon-militia-nuts-hold-paiute-history-artifacts-hostage-163116 "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." 25. NPR is at the "bottom of the dial" all over the country (for the most part). I drive truck and can usually find an NPR station by scanning below 92mhz. And there is no "unbiased" news. Even the highly regarded outlets have stuff that they are biased on (for example, NPR is biased anti-gun). They key is to find a variety of news outlets (NPR & BBC are the two I trust the most) and then make sure to compare and contrast them with other, differing views. For example, comparing and contrasting Fox, Blaze & Breitbart won't do much good. "There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
