This is an interesting article on the rise of facism and it's roots. Basically, Trump isn't the cause, he's just the result (as in taking advantage of the people who want it). The author's take is that the underclass is sick and tired of being told to "be nice to each other" by elites who are doing the bidding of their corporate masters. Yeah, but on the plus side; the incident isn't being covered up. How long ago would it have been that this would be "papered over" as a justified shooting? Admittedly, I don't know all the facts of the case. It's entirely possible that it is a "good shoot". Just because the dead guy was black & unarmed doesn't mean he wasn't presenting a legitimate threat to the cop. I am so thrilled to see more and more people talking like this. Including so many that never did before. I still see the party-only zombies in play, they are getting ridiculously frantic now. But the others (IMO - more reasonable and aware types) are coming out of the woodwork. Maybe the only really good thing that will come from this election cycle. Hopefully it's powerful enough. One thing to keep in mind is that the "Party-Only Zombies" (I love that term) generally dominate the primaries. It's a phenomenon that has been noted before. Primaries are usually minor elections, and a lot of "non-zombies" stay home. That means that the dedicated weirdos, zombies and idiots who make sure they vote in every election have a bit more influence. I agree that it would be nice to see the rest of the voters make a bigger appearance. And the idiocy we are seeing now may be the impetus. Well, some speech is "freer" than other. I'm fully in favor of allowing the KKK or any other group holding a peaceful rally/march/demonstration. That's the whole purpose of free speech. It sounds like the one in Aneheim was poorly policed, allowing protesters to attack the KKK guys. While I have very little sympathy, they should have had a stronger police presence to keep the two groups apart. And Trump has demonstrated already his lack of tolerance for other viewpoints. The idea of a "travelling cell of private property" is actually pretty good. That's how it is considered in Wisconsin. No property owner can ban anything (legally posessed), as long as it's left in a locked car. That was one of the "prerequisite" laws the concealed carry crowd had implemented to make CCW work. And, as far as the shooting in the OP goes, it was a factory. Virtually every manufacturing facility, warehouse, industrial place of any sort that I go to (and I drive truck so I got to a lot) is "Posted Prohibited". They are "gun free" zones. For safety and to protect the employees of course. So any of the people working there that could have potentially been armed had been disarmed by the boss. There are other reasons too. As was noted above, the actual laws for civilian use of deadly force are nothing like they are portrayed in the media. The consequences for a shooting are pretty harsh. Even if it turns out to be justified, there will be cops, handcuffs, lawyers, all that shit. And if a shooting does happen, then the fact that the shooter went through the process, learned the laws and got the permit will be a significant point in her favor in the eyes of the court system.
