Steven Seagal says he may provide new material for Jon Stewart

You thought Seagal was a navy Seal? That's priceless. Maybe Tom Hanks was an astronaut. -
Terry Schiavo family to help brain-dead Oakland Girl
jclalor replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
Let's not be too hasty about turning off ventilators, it keeps me employed. I work in a children's sub acute and about half of our pt's are in a PVS. I'm convinced that when there's been a terrible accident involving children, and the doctors tell the the parents that there's no hope, 99% of parents make the right notice and let the child go, the other 1% says keep them alive at all cost and they end up at my facility. While nothing was said at my work, our facility is the only one in the Bay area that would have been able to take Jahi, I'm guessing we wanted nothing to do with that. -
I don't think everyone should get a college education. For a lot of people there is simply no benefit to it. If everyone goes to college there won't magically be graduate level jobs for everybody. Someone's still got to do the plumbing. I also don't think everyone should go to college, nor would that ever happen anyways, but there's no doubt that the left puts more of an emphasis than the right does on higher education. A perfect example is the Dugger kids, no off compound college in thier future, and this family is the darlings of the right. The subject of this thread proves my point; the right is regressing, it takes a speacial type of ignorance to believe the earth is only 10,000 years old. And there's only one thing that can cause a person to do that.

Terry Schiavo family to help brain-dead Oakland Girl
jclalor replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
I was waiting to see how long this would take to turn political, I'm just waiting to hear now that she's a victim of an Obama "Death Panel". http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/01/02/family-california-girl-declared-brain-dead-gets-help-from-terry-schiavo-family -
The main reason that you and your type are in "survival mode" and have given up on the GOP, is do to the fact that only 75% of the GOP has gone absolute bat shit crazy. At the current rate that the GOP is going, all of you Apocalyptic types should be on the same page shortly.

I found this comment quite interesting: ***Vin Weber, a former Minnesota Republican congressman and now a Washington-based GOP strategist, says he would "resist characterizing this as evidence of a war on science, which I think is BS." "I suspect this is a reflection of a trend we've seen, where the most educated people who used to be Republicans are now Democrats, and people with less educational status are now moving into the Republican Party," Weber says. Being uneducated is the new badge of honor in today's GOP, look at all the grief Obama got for even suggesting that everyone should receive a college education.

I sincerely hope you had a good Christmas and also have a good year. In the grand scheme of things, I'd like to think everyone here is a bit like these two. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VYtiyjqx7E&feature=youtube_gdata

No selfies ------------------------------------- So I wish you happy holidays and you want to take a shot at me anyway huh? I wouldn't expect anything less from someone born without a spine. If your intentions were sincere and I now believe that they were, I apologize and I wish happy holidays. Once again, I apologize.

The majority believes in background checks.

I guess there's no such think as a "Gun Nut" in your vocabulary. While I'm sure that a picture like this one is considered cute to some people, but not to the majority. When I first saw the Pic, I thought it was the Dugger family Christmas picture, which would have been about par for the course. Talk about taking the Christ out of Christmas... Nothing says Merry Christmas like the whole family packing.

Your premise is that once a firearm has been cleared by an adult, it is 100% safe to be handled by a child, I think casual posing with "unloaded" firearms desensitizes children to the real danger of guns. If this can happen to a professional... Why would you think kids would fair any better? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeGD7r6s-zU&feature=youtube_gdata
-
Yes assume every firearm is loaded when you first pick it up. But then what do you do? Were you taught to assume that the firearm would always remain loaded? or were you taught to verify that the firearm was or was not loaded and proceed to unload it if it was indeed loaded. I was taught to "PROVE" that the firearm was safe to handle by: Point the firearm in the safest direction. Remove all ammunition. Observe the chamber. Verify the feeding path. Examine the bore for obstructions. Once this is done, the firearm is no more dangerous than any other inanimate object. So please show us the proof that shows the adults in this family did NOT ensure that each and every firearm in this picture was unloaded and safe to handle prior to giving the firearms to the children in this benign family picture. I swear being Progressive is a mental disorder. We all know that there's never been an accident involving an "unloaded"gun. We also know how much fun it is to have a gun that's been "Proved" pointed and dry fired at our head. I guess We just have a different opinion, I believe that it is never acceptable for any child to ever point any firearm at another person's head.

Very classy.
-
What is going to really be cute is the anti gun nuts reaction to the pricture!!! And if you care to look closer, I see only one hand gun where muzzel control was over looked Carry on I see one weapon pointed at a child and the other at an adult. I guess I was raised differently around guns, the first 2 things I was taught: treat every weapon as if it were loaded and Never point a weapon in a direction that you don't intend to shoot.
-
Really? Take a picture of your small children pointing hand guns at other children and you think it's cute?

Democrats introduce bill to end the death penalty
jclalor replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
A) It applies to everybody. That's the point. B) You have an incredibly short memory. We've just been talking about the problem with the death penalty being that you will execute innocent people. That still applies here. So the 8th amendment is not just there to protect the heinous criminal, it's there to protect the falsely accused and mistakenly convicted. Most people don't care when innocent people are executed, this is because when innocent people are executed, they are still people with serious criminal records. Execute a innocent white person with no previous criminal record and then watch them howl. Ironically I never heard of this. No howling happened. http://camerontoddwillingham.com/ Exactly, an innocent man with a criminal record was wrongly executed. This is an old story, Frontline did an excellent story on this. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/criminal-justice/death-by-fire/did-texas-execute-an-innocent-man-answers-remain-elusive/ -

I'm watching it right now. Holy shit! The defense attorney is shredding a witness on the stand, in a scene I thought only happened in the movies! I almost feel sorry for the incompetent cop. BTW The last 3 minutes are missing from that video. They are included in this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BluRCHhMISQ Sorry about the link missing the final 3 minutes , they were kind of important. A lot of times you see shows like this and you always end up having a lingering doubt about their true guilt or innocence, not this time. Brenton was very lucky to end up with this guy as his public defender. -

Another great documentary, it won the Academy award a few years ago. This is one of the best you will ever see, even my conservative friends even loved it. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wWwf-uHrCIA -
