It seems there has been a proliferation of Confederate flag waving in the last few years. Including the clown in front of the White House earlier this week waving the Stars & Bars along with the Flag of the USMC, perhaps he was was unable to see the irony. Perhaps a little more subtle than burning a cross on Obsma's front lawn, but the point was made. Everyone's in favor of states rights until it conflicts with thier own world view. I really wouldn't mind if the south succeeded, those Red states sure are a drain on our federal resources.

I really wish that some people would keep this in mind.

The usual suspects will be here soon to proclaim a mighty victory for the tea baggers and a resounding defeat for the President. They may be just a bit vague on the specifics.

Medicare also does not have a profit motive, the amount of care that is delivered will always beat the private insurance industry. The United States spends far more of it's GDP on healthcare than any other industrialized country. The current amount, and the rate of growth of spending is unsustainable for this country. The ACA may be far from perfect, at least for now, but at least it's trying to address the problem

What a surprise, the GOP caved. Cruz kind of reminds of the black knight from Monty Python's "In search of the holy grail" who picks a fight, and then after getting his arms and legs severed, declares the fight a draw. But the GOP is more than welcome to be worried about being primaried by the tea baggers, at the current pace, they will both find themselves a historical footnote in ten years.

As you know, I watch sick children suffer and die on a daily basis, to even suggest that this is due to their being sinful, or for the sins of another makes my head explode. How you manage to be an intelligent person and manage to still believe this I will never know. The day an Iraqi war veteran has their traumatically amputated legs grow back , due to the prayers of believers, is the day I'll become a believer. But we both know that's never going to happen.

I seriously doubt that any young child has the capacity to understand and then "reject" any form of religion. I do think that if a child is not indoctrinated in religion, it's never given a second thought by them.

From what I understand, the SUV was surrounded when the bike pulled in front of it and hit his brakes resulting in a minor rear end bump. At this point according to police, the SUV was surrounded by bikers, with some brandishing knives. This is when the SUV took off and performed some spinal manipulation on the thug. I think if you take part in terrorizing a family who is simply minding their own business, all bets are off. I'm thrilled this guy will spend the rest of his life shitting in a diaper.

Perhaps 20 years ago it didn't matter much who you knew or where you went to school, not today. The tech industry here is ultra competitive, you better have a masters degree from a top college and know someone to even have your resume looked at. People have been smoking pot for years, blaming anybody who falls out of the middle class on being lazy and smoking dope is not going to serve the GOP well in years to come.

Well fucked up. I'm in good health and have kept myself that way. My premium is going up. And it turns out the lower cost plans have, you guessed it, rationing. They have fewer doctors and hospitals participating. Which means longer wait times. And how are the prices kept down? By subsidies. What a perfect storm brewing... Your premium went up ? Premiums have been going up forever, but in the last couple of years they have been going up at the lowest rate in fifty years. You really have to love this new style of legislating, whoever controls the House can now insist on any demands they want while threatening too not fund the debt increase. The very simple fact of the matter is that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, this had been happening at an accelerated pace for the last 30 years. This is not a partisan issue, with the world's population increasing, technology is making it possible to create more and more products with less and less manpower. Regardless of where you stand on unregulated capitalism, more people competing for fewer and fewer jobs drives down wages. When most people can no longer afford the products that they manufacture, we go into another Great Depression. The current disparity in wealth is very reminiscent of what was seen in the late 1920's.
