  1. I just saw a study that claims Asians loose their academic advantage after 3 generations stateside? Culture is everything when it comes to education. Some cultures placing everything on it while others seemingly could care less, this has to change. As a Nurse in the Bay Area, I currently work with about 75 nurses. The Bay Area is a heavy Latino area, yet only one of my coworkers is Latino. 80% are from the PI 19% from Ethiopia and then theres me.
  2. Sometimes here I'm reminded of the joke " When does a black become a Nigger"? As soon as he leaves the room.
  3. I'll do my best here in hopes to NOT start a religious/theological feud. First, there is a lot of analysis on the internet from both Protestant and Catholic sources on this text. How this text was translated from it's original language to English must consider the context of the historical moment and times in which it was written. Did Mark write the original text in Greek? Aramaic? Latin? I myself don't know. What I do know is that these three languages don't directly translate to English. Thus, a better understanding is realized by going back to the original language. Finally, does this scripture stand alone or is there other scripture i.e. text in other books of the Bible that can shed further light and explanation on this? The author of mark will most likely never be known. The vast majority of scholars agree that all the gospels were written in Greek. I'm a big Bart Erhman fan myself and read everything he writes, he is one the most respected textual critics out there. Mark was the first Gospel written of the three synoptic gospels, Matthew and Luke both used Mark as a source. Mark used "Q" as a source. It's very apparent the ending of mark was added as the origional made no sense.
  4. Oh ye of little faith, Mark 16:17-18 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” It's either 100% the inspired word of God or it isn't. Although most biblical scholars agree that this was not the original ending to Mark and that the original ending is probably lost forever.
  5. Warning: depictions of graphic sex, beastiality, and cannibalism. http://moviepilot.com/stories/2014/02/14/yabba-dabba-don-t-scientifically-accurate-flintstones-1238796?stamp=58739&utm_campaign=yabba-dabba-don-t-scientifically-accurate-flintstones&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=fb-stream-post&_escaped_fragment_=vWR6j#!v1lGl
  6. A very good documentary.
  7. Are you a bad person for thinking this is funny?... Not in the least. This is also pretty convincing evidence of Darwin's theory of evolution.
  8. Perhaps someone can answer this question: Can he be sentenced on the attempted murder convictions and then still be retried on the hung murder charge?
  9. Perhaps, some in the jury could not decide if in fact the deceased was armed and posing a lethal threat to the defendant. And then perhaps they then concluded that firing into a loaded vehicle with three others, with no evidence to suggest that they were a lethal threat to the defendant, was paramount to attempted murder of those three. Just an idea.
  10. What pisses me off is the station let people make a little shrine for him at the pump. I hate to admit it, but I'm glad the fucker didn't die right away.
  11. Just don't give one to Marsellus Wallace's wife! You can end up with a speech impediment.
  12. Perhaps "edgy" is just kind of a legal way to say younger.
  13. "Shoot, a fellow could have pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff" - Major T.J. "King" Kong - One of the best movies ever, and just coincidently watching "Modern Marvels" Strategic Air Command while reading this thread.
  14. She will most likely be the most electable Democrat in 2016, and that's enough for me. Coincidently, I wrote my first check today. https://www.readyforhillary.com/splash
  15. I loved Bill's explanation of his Grandfather getting his bow tie tied at the hotel. The look on the 99% fundamentalist audience was priceless, that was a funny story, zero laughs, they had no sense of humor.
  16. I haven't been this excited about boxing since the Tanya Harding fight.
  17. Roller coasters are too hard on an older body, it feels as if all of my 206 bones are going in different directions, jumping is so much smoother and less violent.
  18. The ever classy George Zimmerman, once again proves his quality decision making skills by agreeing to enter the ring for a celebrity boxing match. I could have swore that witnesses for the defense claimed he was a pussy and couldn't hurt anyone. http://msn.foxsports.com/ufc/haymaker/george-zimmerman-to-face-dmx-in-celebrity-boxing-match-020514
  19. . I heard this morning that they do about 120 billion a year with 2 billion coming from tobacco. Yeah so I looked it up....those are sales numbers, not profit numbers. They say nothing about the actual margin on cigarettes. Being an x-smoker, I can tell you stores like CVS had rediculous prices for smokes, sometime 3 bucks a pack more than a gas station. I bet they made 20-40%

  21. I choose blessing that becomes a curse with ego centrism. It's a blessing as long as the knowledge does not call into question the existence of a god. What you call ego centrism is nothing more than a person who believes the evidence that contradicts your beliefs.
  22. You can't make this stuff up. http://money.cnn.com/2014/01/31/news/companies/walmart-food-stamps/
  23. Would you believe he is my representative? He has my vote next election.[/quote I know you aren't, but you should be ashamed of the way you celebrate this kind of ignorance. Wearing ignorance on your sleeve is the new badge of honor for some. Please remind me why one side of the aisle is perceived as significantly more stupid than the other? Regardless of embracing Bronze Age superstition by one group, the level of intellectual incompetence achieved by the other side is every bit as impressive - and occasionally more so. I am reminded of the T-shirt somebody wore at the drop zone, which said simply 'Your Retarded.' Again, though Republican fuckwits are truly world-class, Democrat fuckwits do their best to make their GOP counterparts seem like rank amateurs at the stupidity game. Neither group has any basis upon which to crow about their mental horsepower. There'a no doubt that both sides have their idiots. There is one side that has no problem wanting to put their Bronze Age ideas into law.
