It seemed to me that her diving and spiraling canopy would cover much more distance than my 250 sf canopy. I was already heading away from her.
-
For a split second as I watched her spiral, she went out of view above my canopy, I had no idea if she was going to come crashing thru the top of my canopy. I fly a huge canopy and there was no fast way for me to leave the situation outside of cutting away and falling to may be 1500 ft before deploying. It all happened very fast.

On Friday at the boogie in Davis, may be twenty seconds after opening and at about 2300 ft, I looked behind me to see a canopy spiraling down at me. For a split second I thought of dissconecting my RSL and cutting away. She cut away pretty much as I was going for my RSL, I'm a bad judge of distance but she seemed pretty damm close. Edited to add that I did not shoot this video, I was pretty close to right below her as she starts spiraling. Nothing she did wrong and I was glad to see she was fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psFzvr-YMxU

Discipline or beating to the point of leaving a mark? What a misleading title. Many ways to discipline without leaving a mark. What a world we live in; you can't beat or even sell your Daughter into slavery. It's refreshing to see a part of the Texas judicial system not in the stone age.

What the unemployment stats do not show is what percentage of people are underployed. Quality jobs that have good benifits are fewer and fewer these days. I'm still confused, Bush told us when the rich got the tax breaks back in 2001, that with all the money they saved, they would be hiring tons of people. How could the unemployment rate be higher when he left office 7 years after the tax cuts?

Bob Jones university???........... shit!!! You need say no more. Had I known your Guy hailed from that bastion of higher learning, hell I would have stopped arguing long ago. No blacks aloud until 30 years a ago, no inter-racial dating until a few years ago, Bob Jones is good people. I just love those Christian values. Bob Jones University, the Bible college in Greenville, South Carolina, did not admit black students until the 1970s. Then, for a 30-year period, interracial dating was prohibited. Now the university has announced that its polices were wrong.

I quoted Dr. John MacArthur. He is one of the best theologians of our time. I think he's above a third grade level on this topic. I happen to agree with him and the early Church Father testimonies. Your attack doesn't surprise anyone and it certainly doesn't line up with the overwhelming belief and testimomy of church history. Your doctor sounds like he quite the guy: "He is also an advocate of Nouthetic Counseling, which stresses the Bible as a sufficient tool for counseling people with mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. MacArthur rejects psychological theories and techniques, considering psychology and psychiatry as contrary to the Bible.[21] In Our Sufficiency in Christ: Three deadly influences that undermine your spiritual life MacArthur criticises "so-called Christian psychologists and psychiatrists who testified that the Bible alone does not contain sufficient help to meet people's deepest personal and emotional needs," and he claims "Such a thing as a 'psychological problem' unrelated to spiritual or physical causes is nonexistent." Concerning people who consult secular mental health professionals, MacArthur opines "Scripture hasn't failed them—they've failed Scripture."[22] MacArthur has argued that "True psychology (i.e. "the study of the soul") can be done only by Christians, since only Christians have the resources for understanding and transforming the soul. The secular discipline of psychology is based on godless assumptions and evolutionary foundations and is capable of dealing with people only superficially and only on the temporal level... Psychology is no more a science than the atheistic evolutionary theory upon which it is based. Like theistic evolution, Christian psychology is an attempt to harmonize two inherently contradictory systems of thought. Modern psychology and the Bible cannot be blended without serious compromise to or utter abandonment of the principle of Scripture's sufficiency.... "[23] His stance has caused several controversies, the most notable of which was the first time an employee of an evangelical church had ever been sued for malpractice.[24][25][26] [edit]Creationism MacArthur advocates Young Earth Creationism in his book, The Battle For the Beginning (2001), and in his sermons.[27] Speaking about evolution, he writes that Christians "ought to expose such lies for what they are and oppose them vigorously." [edit]Other Christian movements and other religions His writings are critical of other modern Christian movements such as those who run "seeker-friendly" church services such as Robert Schuller, Bill Hybels, and Rick Warren.[28] Taking a strong stand against popular mega-church pastor Joel Osteen, Pastor MacArthur has spoken of him as a quasi-pantheist and proclaimed his teachings to be Satanic.[29] He has also taught that Catholicism is "a Satanic religious system that wants to engulf the earth."[30] He has also stated that the "theology of Islam is false," and that Allah is the "wrong god."[31][original research?] Although he is a proponent of Christian abstinence from alcohol, he does not teach it is necessarily sinful.[32][original research?] (See Christianity and alcohol".) [edit] From Wikipedia. This is who I have been reading a lot of lately: Biography of Bart D. Ehrman Bart D. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. At UNC he has served as both the Director of Graduate Studies and the Chair of the Department of Religious Studies. A graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois), Professor Ehrman received both his Masters of Divinity and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude. Since then he has published extensively in the fields of New Testament and Early Christianity, having written or edited twenty-four books, numerous scholarly articles, and dozens of book reviews. Among his most recent books are a Greek-English edition of the Apostolic Fathers for the Loeb Classical Library (Harvard University Press), an assessment of the newly discovered Gospel of Judas (Oxford University Press), and three New York Times Bestsellers: Jesus Interrupted ( an account of scholarly views of the New Testament), God’s Problem (an assessment of the biblical views of suffering), and Misquoting Jesus (an overview of the changes found in the surviving copies of the New Testament and of the scribes who produced them). His books have been translated into twenty-seven languages. Among his fields of scholarly expertise are the historical Jesus, the early Christian apocrypha, the apostolic fathers, and the manuscript tradition of the New Testament. Professor Ehrman has served as President of the Southeast Region of the Society of Biblical literature, chair of the New Testament textual criticism section of the Society, book review editor of the Journal of Biblical Literature, and editor of the monograph series The New Testament in the Greek Fathers (Scholars Press). He currently serves as co-editor of the series New Testament Tools, Studies, and Documents (E. J. Brill), co-editor-in-chief for the journal Vigiliae Christianae, and on several other editorial boards for journals and monographs in the field. Pope “Spirit of Inquiry” Teaching Award, the 1993 UNC Undergraduate Student Teaching Award, the 1994 Phillip and Ruth Hettleman Prize for Artistic and Scholarly Achievement, and the Bowman and Gordon Gray Award for excellence in teaching. Professor Ehrman has two children, a daughter, Kelly, and a son, Derek. He is married to Sarah Beckwith (Ph.D., King's College London), Marcello Lotti Professor of English at Duke University. He lives in Durham, North Carolina.

This is a far cry from someone having a "vision". you skipped the following paragraph, on purpose? {snarky} vision = sees something {end of pointless snarky} absolutely, but someone "not quite right" might just not process it the same as you or me. Doesn't mean they didn't see something (in a real sense). So how do the cops know what to ignore? If they claim to by psychic, they are likely off kilter anyway - like religious people, or environmentalists, or CrW advocates. They pretty much are "just looking" for means to rationalize their POV. Practical analogy - Kallend drives through an area full of wires, his radio is working fine. One day, at a specific area, he notices the radio is wonky in a way that only a physicist can decode. He looks around, then calls the local utility and tells them the transformer on the corner of _____ and _____ is overheating and a danger. He didn't measure anything directly, but he observed "something". Should the utility investigate? or should they mock him. The CrW reference was funny, thanks. The "things are just not quite right feeling" when combined with other tangible evidence such as witnessing an event is fine. If a person calls the police and says he had a vision, a dream, premonition or what ever, he needs to be ignored and warned that if they repeat the behaivor, they will be arrested by the police. Attempting to compare a physicist with a psychic is comparing science and the supernatural, it's not even in the same ballpark.

Your understanding of early Christianity is about on a third grade level. You are dead wrong if you think only non-believers doubt that all the books in the NT are authentic and written by who they claim. When you choose to ignore the overwhelming evidence about the bible and still believe the bible is the inerrant word of God, it just shows your insecurity with your religion, Kind of like Muslim extremist. So next time when go to church, be sure to leave your critical thinking skills at the door, grab your box of coloring crayons and have at it .

What if a self-professed psychic witnesses an actual murder, and she tells the police about it. Should the police then ignore her simply because she's a psychic? What you stated are not the facts of the case. The Cost of Psychics Posted on June 9, 2011 by peicurmudgeon The facts are these. Earlier this week, the police in Liberty County, Texas received a tip that as many as 30 dismembered children’s bodies were buried at a property in Hardin. The police followed up, and found nothing at the address. The psychic, known as Angel, called back and told them they were at the wrong house. They showed up at the second house and found blood on the porch and noticed a strong foul odour. On this basis, a search warrant was issued, and in came the 15 car loads of reinforcements, the tracker dogs, and the FBI. The media picked up the story and it immediately went viral. After spending over $1m, they found a pile of rotting garbage and identified the blood on the porch as belonging to a failed suicide attempt of a family friend. Upon hearing this, Angel said no,the police didn’t listen to her, they were supposed to be looking for 3 missing children. Angel said she has had visions her entire life and after confiding with two friends who were having similar visions that three children could be in trouble, she contacted the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Monday. She strongly denied telling officers that they needed to search for bodies or that anyone was dead. “They did not act on what I told them,” she said. “My biggest concern is definitely the children,” she added. “I think they are hungry and thirsty. They are still alive.” The police obviously bought into the foolishness. It is certainly reasonable to follow up on a tip, however it comes in. Someone may claim to be a psychic to cover up actual knowledge of a crime, but it seems to me that they could have evaluated the blood and garbage without bringing in such a large team. They must have expected to find some major crime to justify such a large presence. It isn’t as if there is a great history of psychics solving crimes “These guys don’t solve cases, and the media consistently gets it wrong,” says Michael Corn, an investigative producer for Inside Edition who produced a story last May debunking psychic detectives. Moreover, the FBI and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children maintain that to their knowledge, psychic detectives have never helped solve a single missing-person case. Even renowned psychic Sylvia Browne has a success rate of exactly 0. In a 2010 study, sceptics evaluate her claim to having an 85% accuracy rate. They look at Browne’s comments to the press and on television about missing persons and criminal cases. No case was excluded. We have listed each case Browne made predictions about as well as provided a reference or broadcast date. When we began to research this, we expected Browne to have been correct at least a few times, but as the list demonstrates, she was not. The references show that the only cases in which Browne was not proven wrong are those that remain unsolved. In several cases, she told grieving families that their children or spouses were still alive, albeit involved in drugs 0r sold into sexual slavery. Eventually it was shown that most had died within hours of disappearing, and none had met the fate Browne ‘saw‘. People go see psychics all the time. They are in every village, town, and city. Mostly people go for advice on their love lives, or to look for future career or financial advice. Many go to contact loved ones who have died, and are sorely missed. Most of this is relatively harmless entertainment, however, there can be some real damage done. Most psychics fall into two categories, those who truly believe they have ‘the sight‘, and those who are scam artists. The techniques they use, consciously or unconsciously include ‘cold reading‘, or using vague guesses and body language to convince the client the psychic knows things (as in the TV show ‘The Mentallist’); and ‘hot reading‘, where the psychic researches the mark first, either by themselves or with the aid of accomplices or microphones. The frauds often prey on the recently bereaved as a means of separating the vulnerable from their money. We can’t know the motivations behind Angel and the Hardin (non)massacre. Did she truly believe she was going to help or was she merely looking for attention, perhaps to expand her client base. Chances are, this case will fade from the public eye before we find that out, and Angel will continue making her predictions.

They didn't "turn to" the psychic, the psychic called them. Quote: "The sheriff's office had received two calls from the person, officials said. Evans said authorities took the tip seriously in part because the caller had details about the interior of the house that only someone who had seen it could have known... "McNair said deputies found blood on a back door and detected a foul odor coming from the house, leading to the search warrant..."So, you're suggesting that police should have just ignored a tip about a mass murder? That the deputies shouldn't follow-up on such tips and check them out? That when the deputies find blood and a foul odor that they should do nothing? I'm glad that these cops were doing what they did, instead of following your advice. An absolute waste of resources and only encourages more nuts to contact the police and waste their time. Police do not go to them, they go to the police and on occasion the police listen to them, and they never provide any useful information. "No psychic detective has ever been praised or given official recognition by the FBI or US national news for solving a crime, preventing a crime, or finding a kidnap victim or corpse." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychic_detective A total waste of time.

On a slightly related subject, the best song ever written about suicide "Suicide is painless" was written by a fourteen year old. "Suicide Is Painless" is a song written by Johnny Mandel (music) and Mike Altman (lyrics), which is best known for being featured as the theme song for both the movie and TV series M*A*S*H. The actual title is "Song from M*A*S*H" (Suicide is Painless)". "Mike Altman is the son of the original film's director, Robert Altman, and was 14 years old when he wrote the song's lyrics. During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the 1980s, Robert Altman said that his son earned more than a million US dollars for co-writing the song while he only made US $70,000 for directing the movie". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_Is_Painless

Can you believe that in the twenty first century, and in one of the most advanced western countries in the world, That a PD would even consider listening to a psychic. what an absolute waste of resources. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/06/07/no-bodies-found-in-texas-home-after-psychic-tip/

Ding ding ding ding!!!! we have a winner. Who was Bush more concerned with after 911? In the grand scheme of things, it don't matter anyways. Iraq and Afghanistan will turn into even worst shitholes that they are now after we leave, and we will leave, be it sooner or later.

You need to seriously reconsider this one. Why? I like to be amused. Oh, I forgot. There is no humor on the liberal side. It just seems you have made a few remarks recently that a lack of thinking was required for religious enlightenment.
