  1. I just find it ironic that all the right loves to worship the myth of Ronald Reagan, but in pratcie he was very differnent. Though he did seem to have a grasp of what defaulting on the debt could do to the country.
  2. If only Reagan were here to handle the debt ceiling crisis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6nNJiJsm70
  3. 17%.... Am I gonna be deported?
  4. Some want to bitch about making the rich pay more in taxes. I want my federal tax dollars staying in California. Why should all the blue states have there money going to support the shiftless and lazy red states. The flyover states have been suckling at the Federal teat for way too long. I wonder why the blue states have to bail out the red states year in and year out. http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2004/09/red_states_feed.html
  5. Look how the question is worded, Not a single word about it being for just the top 2%. Pretty sleazy, Fox news MO. Show me any poll where there is not an overwhelming support (from both parties) to tax the top 2% of wage earners. I think it is sleazy to target a particular group. If I cannot say that we need to make the more than 50% that pay nothing pay taxes why is it okay to say the top 2%? Oh that's right because they have money that others do not have and those "others" think they have a right to it for doing nothing. What about the other bit about any random Republican beating Obama? Apple and oranges. I say your poll is disingenuous. Plenty of threads to argue the merits of who pays what.

  8. The irony meter is is off the scale.
  9. As long as we're talking children analogies, when we first started brushing our daughter's teeth, she screamed bloody murder. I'm sure if anyone overheard, they'd think we were beating her to death. I don't doubt one bit our daughter though we were the most horrible, cruel parents at the time of her meltdowns, thrashings, etc. And as much as I'd like to be able to explain her why things had to be so (brushing her teeth), and why in the end, she would be a thousand times better for it, I couldn't as she wasn't capable of such understanding. In the same way, if we assume for argument's sake, some sort of divine exists (omnipotent, omniscient, etc) the gap in knowledge and power is so vast that that god will undoubtedly do things that are ultimately "for the best" that we both fail to understand and think is quite horrid due to our limited scope of everything. I like the response of Ivan, to his brother Aloysha in the Dostoevsky's novel 'The Brothers Karamazov" in response that there maybe a reason in the end that will justify all the suffering that goes on in the world. " I'd rather remain with my unrequited suffering and my un-quenched indignation, even if I am wrong. Besides, they have put too high a price on harmony; we can't pay so much for admission. And therefore I hasten to return my ticket. And it is my duty, if only as an honest man, to return it as far a head of time as possible. Which is what I am doing. It's not that I don't accept God, Alyosha, I just more respectfully return to him the ticket."
  10. You should check out the security and scam alert thread.
  11. I have seen this video before and it's pretty funny. The cat seems more or less alright on the ride up, but as soon as they open the door the look on his face is priceless. On the other hand, it does seems pretty cruel.
  12. God must have really disliked the whole world except for the middle east and Europe. Out of the 14 largest animals that humans have been able to domesticate, except for the llama, none came from Sub Saharan Africa, Australia or North and South America. This gave those living in the fertile crescent a huge advantage over the rest of the world when it came to agriculture. There was also no crops like grain and barely that could be stored for extended periods of time in sub-sahara Africa like in the fertile crescent. While the rest of the world was just trying to stop from starving to death on a daily basis, Europe and the middle east were able to accelerate in Technology. These events happened long before the Judeo- Christian God arrived.
  13. . It just seems that some of us handle the news a little bit more like grown ups.
  14. I scoff and complain at people who give God all the credit for the good and then shrug their shoulders at the bad. I expect nothing from God, I'm not superstitious like you.
  15. Great response, blame the parents. "The boy apparently broke from his grandmother's grip and ran into the path of the truck."
  16. Ya your right, the kid lived to to the ripe old age of two. So what is the age where it is ok for people to die and not say God is a dick for causing it? Or is God a dick even when the oldest person in the world dies? Horrible things happen every day to the young and to the old - wonderful things as well. But if your gonna thank God for all the good, by implication, you have to blame him for all the bad. I'm not superstitious, I realize events are random and there is no magic involved, and to quote someone much wiser than me "Shit happens" What would we say of a father who fed four of his six children and let the other two starve to death even if there was plenty of food to go around? I have too watch children die slow hideous deaths in the course of my work, on occasion, I have to make excuses for God to these kids. I have to look at them with a straight face and tell them to keep on praying and may be he will heal them. We get church groups that come in and sing songs about God performing miracles, these poor kids believe them, I have yet to see one. If there is a God, he's a fucking dick.
  17. Ya your right, the kid lived to to the ripe old age of two.
  18. I don't think you really watched, this is making fun of God. I'm an Atheist.
  19. some Christians would prefer to pray for the silliest things as opposed to asking God to stop this: http://www.bio.ilstu.edu/armstrong/syllabi/cassava/cassava8.htm Remember that God loves you... for now.
  20. A few weeks ago I exited on my back and noticed my $140 car key just kind of floating in my burble for a second or two, as soon as I tried to grab it, it was gone.
  21. I was glad to see he was all right in the end. But I thought it was a terrible show, They said both his reserve lines and main lines were tangled while still in the container and the jump was doomed from the start. I don't think you can PLF at 60MPH under a spinning canopy and what was up with the guy with the jacket in the tunnel trying to simulate being under two wrapped canopies? Every time I hear that a skydiver survived a 15,000 ft freefall, I just laugh. There was no reason to show the base fatality
  22. I very well produced short on YouTube, If your a skeptic or non-believer, give him a try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gnQz32c5EA
  23. *** I thought I was the only one that noticed these inconsistencies, as soon as I get done with this: http://www.ufos-aliens.co.uk/cosmicapollo.html Or may be this one too: http://www.alaska.net/~clund/e_djublonskopf/Flatearthsociety.htm I'll delve into flight #800.
  24. This and other issues may very well get her close to the nomination, but not the Presidency. I think a very large portion of the Christian right are anti-Catholic and this crap is right down their ally. I would like to see her get the nomination, that would guarantee another four years of Obama.
  25. ] I probably could have been clearer in my first paragraph. What I was trying to say is that if a persons motive for trying to become straight is based upon feeling ashamed of their sexuality, based on outdated social values and unscientific belief systems. Should the goal of therapy be then too help the person accept their situation and not be ashamed? Also to let the person know that all of the scientific research supports a person accepting who they are. I also have issues with a person being ordered by the state to attend a 12 step faith based program. I am 4 months tobacco free as of yesterday, I did not need a higher power to quit and I am fairly certain you could have done all it on your own too.
