  1. Yea, who would want to live in a country considered by most to have the highest standard of living in the world along with one of the lowest crime rates ? That's probably why you run into so many Norwegian immigrants these days. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/country_profiles/1023276.stm So, tell me ...given the high standard of living and low crime rate, what would motivate him to attack government offices and murder school children in Norway? (He does mention in his "writing" that he's a millionaire. Could that be it?) People are always looking for a reason for why these things happen, he was a fucking nut, nothing more and nothing less. they come along from time to time and the ones that tend to run up the higher counts seem to have easier access to weapons. I can't recall such a high toll ever in a European country. ( outside of being committed by people in nice brown shirts with shiny boots)
  2. That was impressive. Absolutely none of the replies above had any substance Add this to the list: Add this to the list: It's also interesting to note just how much slack is given to the more liberal posters here. Sure, there's an occasional "Ok...that's enough...last warning. But as you can see, the length of plank one can walk seems to be much longer for some people. Predictability, those with the most leeway tend to be the most obnoxious. On a side note, it is an excellent example of the total depravity/inability of man. Perhaps you could have quoted the post that you considered unfairly singled out for the only reason of coming from a conservative poster. I think your a bit too sensitive. I had one of the more extreme Christian posters once tell me to go fuck my mother, and nothing happened to him. Sticks and stones.....
  3. Minimum wage needs to obviously be decreased and the huge pool of untapped child labor needs to be utilized if we are ever going to make this country great again.

  5. I wonder how long before Christian leaders denounce it and publicly state that they do not condone such actions.
  6. Can you give an example of one capitalistic country with no socialist aspects? I'm just curious as to what we should be striving for. You do realize taxes under Obama are lower now than at any other time in recent history for all income groups? Your post is just meant to inflame the ignorant. Funny how when the republicans backed Dubya's unfunded medicare prescription drug plan, not a peep from you guys about him being a socialist.
  7. Winsor, are you really denying that you also begin with presuppositions which then influence how you interpret scientific results? Dude, that is dishonest. Everyone has to begin somewhere. At some point, you must presuppose what you cannot prove in order to progress in this line of thought/study. We just begin with different presuppositions. Mine begins with God as the Prime Mover. All other scientific study is then filtered through that worldview. Your worldview does not account for a beginning, apparently, so there is a big gap. Nevertheless, your worldview progresses with that assumption (unless you again presuppose that everything just always was (just as lacking, in my opinion)) All that follows must be interpreted as such...by something, again, which you cannot prove. I'd still consider it admirable if you'd just admit your presupposition/assumptions, however. I mean, we all know where you stand but it would be nice to see a little honesty. Added: The ironic thing is, you must borrow even the ability to reason from God to then reason against Him. Sad. To claim that a position based on science is false, simply because it can't presently explain the beginning is disingenuous at best. Religion has always been on, and will continue to be on the losing end when it comes to science. As an Atheist, I have nothing I need to prove, not one thing. The burden of proof is always on the claimant (You) and your evidence is sorely lacking. Your logic is circular; When I ask you why you believe in God, you tell me because the bible tells you so. When I ask you how the bible could be inerrant, you tell me because God inspired it. You just go around in circles. Think about how silly it would be if I told you I was abducted by aliens and it was then your job to prove me wrong. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
  8. I appreciate the offer of help, fortunately the worst for me would be a 10% pay cut, it would suck but health care workers in the Bay area are still (over) payed pretty well The funny thing is the state can cut our funding but still require us to keep a certain Nurse/Patient ratio, so no one would loose their job
  9. I work in a privately owned, 90% state funded medical care facility. We have about 120 employees, mostly nurses, respiratory therapist and nursing assistants. With the current financial situation in California, we have not had a raise in 2 years, lost about 10% of our accruing vacation and now pay much more for our insurance. With the recent budget passed in California, our facility stands to loose 10% in state reimbursements and the rumor is we will take a 5 - 10% pay cut. The ironic thing is, my co-workers that seem the most insensed are my Republican friends. The ones constantly screaming that the government needs to slash spending across the board and how dare the owner of our facility not figure out a way to absorb the cost himself. The owner is the most generous boss I have ever had. They say that if they take a cut in pay they will simply put out 10% less in productivity. It's also ironic that someone who despises every government regulation can then quote you every labor law in the book. It's funny how they support a persons right to make a million bucks unfettered until it's off their back. I'll also spare you the irony of them making a living providing health care thats funded by the government.
  10. A poll of adults Nothing to do with registered voters Manufactured poll at best But, believe what you want Need some ocean property in UT? Politicians only represent registered voters? WTF. This was not a poll on how some one would vote. Maybe your confused about republicans that don't care about the country, but just with being reelected. "That polls stupid, it's just a poll of random American adults", dude, you are priceless.
  11. This thread was a parody of the the thread "Latest poll 07/17/20" This poll just mentioned raising taxes, but non on who. big difference how you word it. Are you in favor of capital punishment? Are you in favor of capital punishment for all felonies? Please show evidence where people do not want to raise taxes on the top 2%. to solve the stalemate.
  12. All polls are in conflict, they do however show trends. It must be that "Drive by Media" that's been brain washing me.
  13. How I prefer to remember Reagan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU9lv_WqK6k
  14. Your point is? I know Obama is at 42% right now. Unlike you, when my guy is down in the polls, I admit it.
  15. It's not a book, it's the majority of farmers who are payed by their government to stay afloat. Not really They have been asking for the Gov to get out of their business for years But the gov does not want to and because of the way it is set up today, most farmers can not afford to stay out of the program even if the gov would let them. example, farmers can not get crop insurance unles they enrol in the programs. If they cant get insurance they cant get loans, if they can get loans they cant stay in business My dad was a farmer years ago and you really educate yourself before you post stupid shit like you did All those farmers demonstrating against their hand outs sure has been etched into my memory. Funny how when your side is getting the money it's perfectly logical. When you talk about people educating themselves, try using correct English.
  16. Obama is 2.5 years into office. Compare that to a few economic numbers 2.5 years after Reagan entered office. Real GDP Growth: Jan. 1981-June 1983: 1.1% Jan. 2009-June 2011: 4.7% Unemployment Rate: June 1983: 10.1% June 2011: 9.1% Jobs created (lost) Jan. 1981-June 1983: (1.86 million) Jan. 2009-June 2011: (3.3 million) Stock market: Jan. 1981-June 1983: +24% Jan. 2009-June 2011: +50% Corporate profit margins 1981: 6% 2011: 13.3% Federal taxes as a percentage of GDP 1983: 17.5% 2011: 14.4% Federal spending as a percentage of GDP 1983: 23.5% 2011: 25.3% (23.8% in 2010) Top marginal tax rate (personal income) 1983: 50% 2011: 35% Top marginal tax rate (corporate income) 1983: 46% 2011: 35% He also cut n run in Beirut after the murder of our Marines.

  18. Remind me of how many jobs Reagan created in his first 2 years? Do you remember the LP that Reagan made in 1962, espousing the horrors of medicare? Medicare just happens to be the most popular government programs ever. Try to find any pole, from any time period, where the overwhelming majority of Americans say they don't love it. Then again, one of the funniest memory I have during the Obama healthcare debate, was the senior tea bagger with the sign " Keep the Government out of my medicare"
  19. A poll of adults Nothing to do with registered voters Manufactured poll at best But, believe what you want Need some ocean property in UT? These 19 polls wEre probably manufactured too. http://capitalgainsandgames.com/blog/bruce-bartlett/2292/americans-support-higher-taxes-really Are you selling? different topic asked a way to get a wanted answer Just look at the internals Interesting stuff If you are buying Typical Republican response, spit in my face and tell me it's frosting. Do you really think the majority of people would say " hmm, raise taxes on the top 2%? or let them fuck with my SS and medicare? Gee that's a tough one". And what answer do you think you would most likely get? You go a head and keep it. You can keep it.

  21. Well, 7,560,000 people can't all be wrong. On the lighter side, Google "skydivers are idiots" and you get 7,100,000 hits.
  22. What a difference 3 days make. http://themoderatevoice.com/116733/cbs-poll-71-disapprove-of-republican-handling-of-debt-limit-crisis/
  23. There was never anything close to the political climate back then that Obama now faces. Congress has 100 freshman Republicans who are scared to death of being single termers if they don't suck up to Grover and the tea party. With the lowest income tax levels in recent history, two wars, the drug plan and the stimulus. Outside of making spending cuts, revenues were gonna have to be raised one way or another, And up until the last couple of days showed zero flexability.
