  1. And you should be, but hey thats the one you wanted to go to . . . PA deleted. Your one warning. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  2. Because we may discuss topics that would be better done in a non public manner and I will not have a public record talking about the in's and outs of "hard running" becuase it's not always legal, if you want to get an education then go spend a month or two doing a ride along with an Owner operator and not some company driver working for JB Hunt. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  3. Oh no, that's called a typo, try 1.5 million +. And no, I'm retired now days from all that bullshit.
  4. Then you need to tell dad ASAP and he needs to call the CC company and tell them you were scamed and dispute the charges, because rushing though your training is NOT the answer, you already rushed into this & didn't do your homework worth a damn and now you got your dad in a pickel with you. Next time try doing your research a tad bit better before you rush into paying someone 1600.00 bucks! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  5. PM me, over a million half miles and 21 yrs. running all lower 48 and the great white north. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  6. I've always jumped top mounts and never have used any cover or protection other then a type of retaining strap should the mounting screw bust free, after many years of doing it this way, once the hard boxes came around I could never see a need to cover it that justified the expense. That is once we got into the cameras that were free of tape flutter. Those early 8mm & hi 8 cams were covered in gaffers tape to keep the air out of the seams of the doors and camera body. With all that said my sonys have had the shit beat out of them and been exposed to all kinds of weather and have always keep on going, only once or twice I have had to dry them out after getting wet, this is one reason I keep using that brand. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. Try it sometime, only in your case were the mountians are it don't work as good as in the flat lands where it's really noticable, the lower you go the more the green will surround you and fill the horzion. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. An old school saying : "falling out of the blue umbrella & into the green bowl" this happends around 3K to 2.5 K. In other words green will start to fill the horzion and replace the blue. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  9. The best bet would be to focus on doing your class first and your first jump and forget about being in a hurry to do all the jumps in two days, you will be just like every other student and have sensory over load, not only from the jump but from all the class info on how to save your ass when the shit hits the fan as well as just getting down safely under normal conditions, so how much do you really think you can retain craming in that much info in 2 days? Not as much as you might think you can. Try taking one step at a time and not overloading yourself right off the bat. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  10. Would you want your name and seal on this "type of rig" that someone else had tightened way above 20 lbs. and now there is a bounce in the LZ, say a chick with a pull force of 60 LBS on inspection. Prove you that you didn't do it wrong, that can't done, but it dose call in to question of a another person doing it due to the location of the adjustment loop, but no way to prove it, however spending a number of hours with the feds crawling up and down your ass & paper work is not my idea of fun. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  11. Well I didn't really say that for the record, I was only talking about the idea behind the wide bridle. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  12. Rigger Mick if your asking about the reflex system. I don't know enough about the x-keys to comment. I think as with any system you have a 50/50 chance it will work each and everytime you step out the door! As for my thoughts on the reflex and catapult PC, well it can't hurt to have help if you find yourself with a reserve PC wrapped around your leg or other body part or rig part, the same idea as little pockets added to assist in drag and why the bridle is so wide, drag. More people have been saved with the system then those that have bounced because of it. Regardless what I think, it's still a crap shoot each time we leave the aircraft just might be the last one, we all know this, only some are in denial about it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  13. Amen Brother! Thanks for posting those photos, it has been many moons that I have seen his face and I have no photos of him from Hawaii. As for pot his son & me used to be handed a tray to roll doobie after doobie for many a Jump Hawaii beach bash, it was many years later as an adult that I learned what was in the big kettle on the stove full of "purple water".... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  14. Well all kidding aside, sorry to hear you got busted up. And your right in the winds are really strong you can get very funky turbulence even in the middle of the big field, once it's like that best to stand down. I did just that the last visit there for this very reason as did many locals. Look on the bright side your not dead. Heal fast and have fun limping after those auburn chicks. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  15. That is true for only the small ones, but your right if you don't notice that it can be a drag, but you won't forget that the next time.

  17. Don't land with the hotshots downwind of those tall trees when it's windy, get out in the middle of the big field, and yes the SIMS dose cover where one might expect to find turbulence and why as well as how to do a PLF. I know I have been there and seen a number of wise older jumpers land and sit out loads for a few hours because of the strong winds, so if you see them old farts like Andy & Hans or Anthony sitting out watching the WDI loads get pounded, that would be your clue to keep your feet planted on planet earth. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  18. Yea, you might want to rethink that statement, seen many riggers refuse to do them & seen more then one shitty job done and twice I've seen the pilot chute fabric stuffed up under the pop top cover cap. Your right if one would RTFM and follow it & then allow about two to three days to reseat the poptop, they are pretty easy. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  19. The man made one hell of an impression on me at the time, I'm not sure if he did tours in SE asia or not, but I was told the reason he lived like he did was because he had not fully "come home". I had become pretty good friends with his son at the time. And yes all the lost friends on 85 was such a loss and very sad indeed. W.T. Burr is one person I will never forget, I hope his son was able to pick up his life and carry on it had to be so very hard on him to lose his dad that day. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  20. Pretty wild seeing so many photos of the young William T Burr, I first met him in 1979 in Hawaii, he was living in the bushes in a tent camp he made with his 16 yr old son. Not sure what ever happened to his son when 85 Hotel crashed, he would have been about 17 or maybe just turned 18? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. I only see him once and a while when I'm in town, you would have much better luck in contacting him if you were to call and talk to TK or the manifest @ Z-hills. I think he is still in Hawaii for a few weeks, last I knew he was going to be there for a few. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
