Winner Jack, world record 14 stack z-hills #5. See above #2 Special bonus point to JSbird for getting First baton pass with S.S. And we can for get Mr. Howard who I know had the answers all along but gave other a chance to play along. Anyway heres to Lew Sanborn D-1, one tough old bird. These images were taken from my 1982 Parachutist and a write up about the first issued 30 year membership in USPA awarded to Lew. You do the math, and the man is still jumping, pretty damn cool in my book, so hat's off to Lew and those of you in his class. P.S. I hope all you old farts (said with respect) have been writing all this crap down, should make a good read....

It doesn't matter if you have 1 or 1000....

Chuck, Your right, I'm wrong. If I might reword that to say "if you think for a second most dz's in the US are going to stand down then your a fool". I have been to smaller 182 dz's that did stop for the rest of the day, while I have been at most larger one's that only stopped long enough to clean up the mess, others didn't bat an eye and kept the props turning. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

I would never call you a lier, but I would Parachutist, who says Oct. 26th 81. So I have to take your word over print, seeing how you were there and all that. So you got one part of the who, and you nailed the where and when. You might get the rest if you think about who was in the stack with you and where they are in it. But in the mean time while Howard is chomp'n at the bit and foam'n at the keyboard...... Let's see if some of the young pups can step up. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

That is for the bonus points in that one and as always I knew you would know very easy. And yes most should know both those by the tail, by name. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Two guys, who, where and when (one more well known then the other, what is he known for? bonus points) #3. Who , where, when #4. Who, where and when (if your really you can say where in the stack they are for bonus points) 5. Ed, Don't get me wrong, I expect the loads to go up at some point, hell I expect to be on it as long as I'm not the one whos dead. But I also expect a little respect out of my fellow jumpers, no one wants to bounce and ruin everyones day and it still pisses me off when I see people act like it's a big inconvenience to them that someone just got killed and for dear god they would have to wait an hour or two or even a whole day to get in the air. Those who really know me, know I have paid my dues on clean up duty, it sucks no matter who it is, student or long time friend. I decided a couple years ago I would no longer be one of those who made a sprint to the impact crater anymore, but when "bigfall" rode one in, I still found myself first ground bounder there. And yes a few hours later I made a jump to shake off the willies. But I've seen more then one case of jumpers showing no respect. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

stratostar replied to MilliniaS's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh their valid alright, at least you didn't have to see it as one person doing CPR for 10 minutes and getting really tired, looking up to see the whole DZ standing around just watching you work your ass off to try to save someone and thinking I wish someone would come over here and try to help and about that time you can hear the folks on the next load bitchen about having to standing down for the body removal, pretty disrespectful to say the least that we can't even stop for a few hours without pissing off the next load, but that's how it is at someplaces. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

I got news for ya, if you think for a second any dz in the US is going to "stand down" then your a fool and you'll be moving to other dz's a lot. I speak from first hand experience as one who was still doing CPR on a dead student in the LZ and able to hear people bitchen about "when we going to get the next load up", the fucking meat wagon wasn't even there yet, but about as soon as the body was carted off and at the end of the drive way the wheels were off the ground. The longer you stay around the sport the more cold blooded fuck heads you will meet and all that "we're family" stuff is nothing but a line of bullshit these days and many of you need to open your eyes or pull your head out of your ass in order to see the truth for what it is. As far as the system being broken, Nick DG knows what he is talking about and only telling it how it is. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

There have always been mentors, some choose to be mented, others choose to scoff at them, a lot choose to follow the wrong ones because they get all wrapped up in ego stroking, while others are wise enough to pay heed to the "white haired wise one's" who are so filled with more info and insight about this sport it would take a lifetime to know it all. If you have to have another hold your hand to keep jumping from being boring, then take up a team sport like golf or bowling, one should jump because they enjoy it for themselfs, not because they need someone to hold their hand. One of the best things many miss is to stop and just enjoy the simple things in life, a hop & pop @ 13K on a long summer evening as the sunsets and the sky is filled orange and pinks, purples, grays and take in all the sights god gave you to see & listen to wind sing through your lines, before sip'n a cool one with good friends at the end of the day. So many of you young ones will never know the simple sound of quite, the quite of a round jump, where you hear dogs bark, car doors close, kids playing ball, or just pure quite and when you hear the lines sing, it was because the wind was blowing and not the forward speed, just the simple beauty of a jump is what it's all about, not how many points you can turn or how cool your matching gear and jumpsuit looks or even if your a big named world record holder, it's about the skies call, that's all! Let the sky be your mentor, it's what should have brought you here in the first place, but be sure to enjoy the people you meet along the way, you never know when they'll be gone. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It's easier to to become a walkmoaut if your a skatemoauti and not a fruitbootmoauti, so skatemoaut's are far superior for this reason alone, we are closely related to snowboardmoaut's, I also invented snowboardmoauti this winter and we're working on a snowboardmoauti training camp and comp for next winter in Vail Co. Also any unauthorized use of the terms:Skatemoaut, skateboardmoauti, snowboardmoauti, snowboardmoaut, halfpipemoauti, streetskatemoauti, sidewalkmoauti, downhillmoauti, skatecopmoauti are trademarked and copyrighted by skatemoauti USA inc. all rights reserved. Here in the south eastern United States I have invented skateboardmoauti or skatemoauti, we have done much challanging rides such as streetskatemoauti, quaterpipemoauti and the super extream halfpipemoauti & poolmoauti, we advise beginners to start with downhillmoauti or slidewalkmoauti to learn the finer art of outruncopsmoauti or skatecopmoauti as the pro's call it, by following our well lied out training manual will help one be a fine safe skatemoaut. The first international skatemoauti instructor and course director training camp is going to held this spring in Atlanta's skatemoauti park April 1st -2nd slots are filling fast so hurry and get your skatemoauti on by calling our skatemoaut hotline at 1-800-skatemoauti you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

The cost of assembling my new gear.
stratostar replied to skytramp2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you only knew how many times I have heard people bitch about buying gear from the DZ store and then come into the loft pissed off because the cost of the rig didn't cover the 90 bucks for assy. & pack and act like we riggers are ripping them off. As for the gear store tacking on a "fee" to be a middle man in the transaction, well they have phone bills like everyone else and if your to lazy to find your own rigging services and then find after the fact that you could have saved a few bucks by calling the same rigger the store uses, thats is your problem for not doing your homework in the first place! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Get head out over the strut till after you get out of the airflow and the door starts to fly again, your getting bashed by the door dropping when you block the airflow over the door, with head out in front of the strut your rig will take the hit and not your helmet and cameras. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
