  1. Yes those "bolts" of lighting are quite nice to look at and he did a good job of capturing them.
  2. Love the pic man, what a hoot to see Billy back then. He sent me his dad's 74 SST w/mk1 and tri con in it. Haven't seen him in a number of years now. To add to the topic at hand..... Se some people still have nice old shit and the current manual wouldn't apply. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  6. An actual short in the wire can be a real bitch to find it's true location. Try to replace the 2.5mm plug, if you think you have the actual spot of the short, cut open the heat wrap covering and expose the wires to find the short and splice in about the short... Then a simple wire from radio shack will work and soldering in the replacements. It should be an easy fix. I've always used a blow switch and made all my own wires and plugs for 20d, XTi & XS, wired up a few other peoples too. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. I'm thinking it's your bite switch is faulty? If it's a true bite they crack and get wet and short out, blow switches rule. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. Just went and tested mine, the only way I could get it to do the same thing was if I removed the 2.5 slowly so that the last part (closest to the plastic part) of the plug was not in all the way, it would pop up the flash and fire a shot. However if I plugged in and removed quickly it would not... it also seems that adding in a small amount of jiggle helped make it happen... I would have tried the same test on my XTi but the tip of the 2.5 mm broke off and now I have to replace it. Never had that problem on my 20d. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  9. Don't plug in your 2.5 mm remote with the camera turned on. I've see other models do it too. Don't ask me why. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  10. JerryBaumchen & airtwardo those guys were test jumpers for Leonardo Da Vinci's parachute system! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  11. Well seeing how you live in butt fuck nowhere Mo.... You might want to rethink the time frame for your trip to say Feb or March because 1. if you go too early and get all your jumps in you'll return to said butt fuck nowhere and find all the local dz's are closed for the season and you'll go un-current, unless you freeze your ass off.... 2. If you go in early spring, the weather is super nice, most the euro trash has left the building and helps to free up on dz rentals. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  12. Sounds like a great idea! Ask the people you talk to on the phone if anyone has a camper of rent for the time your planing to go, that way you can stay right on the DZ and walk from the new dz bar to your pass out place... 14. Well that is a problem in the industry we see all to often and it's a big reason why people don't return and keep with the sport. When the sport is as expensive as it is, people expect to be treated in a professional manner and they expect to be educated, at least anyone who takes the time to show up again for a second jump. That shows interest on the part of the student, a good school will give you short run down of the progression in the FJC and then again after your first jump, most will hand you a first jump certif. and additional info about the progression and how to get an A lic. along with a bumper sticker as a parting gift. However sometime DZ's are busy and the people running the ship forget the customer is #1 and fail to remember to not let people fall between the cracks, return students are hard enough to find and when you let them slip by because something as simple as taking the time to talk to them and explain what comes next or print off a progression chart to hand them, it only takes a few minutes time to do. A good instructional staff and office management staff will find a way to work it into the everyday operation as SOP and even then people will still leave without a clue, some of that due to being overloaded after the jump.... But there is no excuse once they return for a second jump. It always blows my mind when I a call a dz and some bitchy ass chick or dude answers the phone like WTF do you want tone of voice and they maintain that tone for the call... A lot of DZO"s need to fire the full time & weekend help who act like pricks and get someone who can handle the stress of running manifest and the phone at the same time without being an asshole to those who are calling their place of business for info and those standing at the counter/office. This industry is it's own worse enemy when it comes to running off customers or people leaving the sport! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  19. Based on the post, no, nor do they understand anything about airports access fights and how to handle those issues and what part of any of that USPA plays a role in.. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  20. Providing your school is using the USPA ISP training program, and you have been cleared to the 3rd jump of the Static Line progression, your next jump (3rd) should be a "pratice pull" or DRCP jump, where you jump out and act like your opening your chute, you'll do that for 3 jumps, then if all gose well your 6th jump would be your first free fall where you are opening the parachute not the static line, it's been removed.... you can read up on all that and a bunch of other detalis, here http://www.uspa.org/SIM.aspx you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. Go look at post 4 again. Who needs a walker when you have that ground crew? (in the best Rodney Dangerfield voice) Hey ladies grab my grippers and help me up, Easy there sweat hart I'm up & that's no gripper.... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  22. Well I said that too, but there are two issues with that, 1. Db beats the shit out of the side of the plane & the new 4k paint job... 2. some people truly believe a HD PC on a first free fall and the like (lowtimers) is sport death and you'll start killing students. (this is the real issue at hand or root of the problem) Now I asked the question because, in my mind 1. I've trained and used HD PC's for (IDK) 10 yrs? or so in both AFF & S/L progression in a lot of states & DZ's (most used DB & HD) and low and behold we didn't kill any students doing so.... 2. Replacing all RC's w/spring loaded PC's with HD PC's and a PCA attachment would work the same way without the hassle of springload PC's and ripcords located in the BOC location being used. 3. Why not get students trained on what they will be using in a short time anyway, it's only a minor change in gear and not a lot of expense to do, no bag damage on the AC paint if droping S/L, and it's still safe for S/L and freefall students in regards to using HD PC 's for S/L progression Clear & Pull's and up, and is pretty much a common thing in the industry for IAD & S/L. (the only real change is using HD in instead of Springloaded PC's via Static lined PCA method of deployment or regular BOC for FF) Now I've never personally seen it done (S/L PCA on HD) but it seems like I've seen photos of it? I can't think of any reason it would any more dangerous or risk then an old school Spring PCA S/L jump... However there maybe people who can provide some real world reasons as to why it's not safe to do in rigging, training, general safety, rate of malfuction.....Ect you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  23. Yes I was wanting to know who has used them, I've seen photos (I think) of it being used, but cazn't remember anyone using it. And Rob, dispite how you maybe right and all, let's take the IAD off the table, not going to switch the whole dz I's over to that, it only add's one more additional problem to the problem... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  24. Anyone here ever or currently use/used a S/L PCA set up on a hand deploy PC... In other words for normal free fall students you use it as a normal HD in BOC,. But for S/L you use a velcro PCA (pilot chute assist) and pack the HDPC as you would a PUD PC in side the container, to be extracted via the velcro once the S/L pin is pulled. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
