  1. Have you ever heard of the skyride ripoff? Runaway, runaway..... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  3. Yea me too... The card system @ skyfest worked very well, it only took one or two reminders over the PA to those of us who forgot to pick up our cards before it became SOP after getting dropped off by the lz shuttle wagon after each jump. And no card, no manifest, the manifest was on top of anyone not picking up their cards and they would hunt you down in no time to make sure you were not off the dz. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  4. Rich to a point your right, however as we've seen in the last couple years there is at least 3 people who have go in without anyone knowing until days later, on being a staff person in TX and lasts months deal in Ca... Now this guy. So I think it's fair to say we have a problem, that last guy in CA was on a three way and those he jumped with didn't seem to miss him in the LZ or packing area. The times I've been to PVS, it was a well run place and with one eagle eye guy who is damn good at keeping track of a hell of a lot of people! However as we see now people can not be seen and go missing. A simple check in system could save a life of an injured jumper or at least get a search under way for the missing in less then two day's or two hours.... that don't sound unreasonable to me. I also just attended a larger boogie that had a check in system and it worked very well. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  5. a kiosk type machine that would require you to self check in and in the event you don't.... say after X amount of time a notice is sent to manifest. Should be easy to build and affordable too. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  6. Nice shot, I also enjoy trying to capture lighting. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. Yea right, not really 1. I know that name from many years ago and I have books/mags with photos of her in US team gear that I have seen from the time I was a young kid, anyone who has been around for any amount would remember that name, back then women jumpers where not in abundance like today. 2. A simple Google search of her name quickly brings up the link I posted, it's public info for anyone to find..... big brother is the scary one here my friend, welcome to the internet world. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  9. We used to have a saying in & around the sport.... One new thing at a time. 13. You might as well take a 357 magnum, place one round in the chamber and spin it, place to head and pull trigger. Ground that shit ASAP and get it replaced. 1. A DZO in Indiana used to have a number of naro student rigs, all of them had the same issue as you do, he was told repeatedly it was an issue and blew it off for months.... well in walked 3 big ass "linemen" built guys, I trained them, lucky for them, their one buddy was freaked out in class about having two out, so we spent a good deal of time reviewing what to do should you have to out. Well guess what.... yea all three of those guys climbed out and the act of the climbout was enough to pull the pin just enough to deploy the reserve... yes the plane made 3 passes and all 3 had two out, two of them you could watch the reserve deploy and yank them off the strut and in turn pulling the static line as well, it was very interesting to watch to say the least. 2. There is a guy on here named "big fall" As a side note, Mr. Bigfall walked over to me just before he got on the plane and asked me what I thought about him using the rig in question, I told him the storie above and how big people in small rigs in not a good idea & can lead to a problem, if your going ahead to do it get a pin check! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=2334765;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; worth the read and to view the photos. A pin check will not expose the real problem, the pin gets pulled when you bend over and around to get out. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  14. Don't pay no mind to those old wind bags', you'll be fine, but it would be best to get two, 1. for your head & 1 for your wrist, you can get a beeping thing for your ear and an FXC AAD for your main, set the beeping thing for the AAD on your main to fire so you'll know it's coming, if that fails to work, don't sweat it.... just stay stable till your AAD on your reserve fires... be sure to set the beeping thing for the second set of beeps to the reserve AAD firing altitude, that way should your second AAD not fire, you can decide who on the DZ it is you dislike the most so you can track towards them or their car in the parking lot as a last resort. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  15. Anyone going to the blues & brews in Telluride? Also anyone here ever done GL in Telluride? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. You really should sit down and write a nice well though out "I'm not a prick and sorry for being an asswipe" type of PM and send it to NickDG & Nova and ask them to forgive you for being an asshat, once all that nicey nice shit is over with... maybe you could shut the fuck up and open your ears & brain cells a little and listen to what they have to say to you instead of flapping your yap, you might not only learn a few things from those cats, you might become a better jumper by doing so. We all understand your the new kid in the hood and you feel the need to "puff & fluff" and let us all know how much you've learned in your short walk around the block, you not the first, you won't be the last..... but if you keep heading down the road your on attitude wise, you will not be viewed kindly by those who have long ago paid there due and seen and forgot more then you will ever learn in your short visit to the hood. FYI-Age never entered into his postings or anyone else's for that matter, the sooner you come to terms with the fact that you don't know shit yet as a young jumper the better off you'll be. Yea I know...... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  20. Did you try..... 1. reading the video forums? 2. searching the video forums? 3. Posting in the video forums? yes most places are using a computer to edit and a lot of them are using sony vegas pro 9 and other programs, some people use mac's. That is the short answer to your question, now go study the video forums. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. Only if you can afford to run it, my jumpsuits still small black dots on them so I don't mind... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  22. With a number of riggers is done after, that dose not mean they are wrong for doing so. It's real easy there Einstein, you make a note of all Dom's, SN's Batt. dates & next due, for the whole unit on your tool count sheet as you check each component's data panel, this way you also have an additional list of the info to hand the owner when they pick up the rig and you can review the info with them without getting out the data card again. You have your way, others have their way, in the long run what the fuck dose it matter, as long as the work is done right, is legal and your not missing your molar strap or temp pins a week later when your done. The rigger your talking shit about may or may not be a fuck up, maybe their new and have not learned a method that works for them yet, or maybe some asshat disturbed him during the process, maybe the phone rang, maybe you were there asking stupid noob questions and distracted him, there are many reason why one might make a mistake, wait till you make one or two and see if people start to bash you too. Your ticket don't make you GOD, it's a ticket to learn forever! If your so bent about it then file an report with the FAA or transport Can. or who ever you report to up there. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  23. I don't think that is true, but YMMV, I got a used cypres 1 that had been in a major injured jumpers rig and sat in the closet from it's 3rd birthday till a month before the 8yr cycle was due, I was only charged for the 8yr and new batt. FWIW- Cliff Schmucker and most the employees of SSK knew the injured person and they also sold the unit to him, so it was easy to know the truth on the life of the unit and where and when I got it.
  24. Went to place an ad for some tandem gear for sale and there in no link for the tandem stuff in the "post and ad" section.... So I had to post in the mains. Can we get that fixed so I can then move my tandem mains to the tandem gear section. Thanks you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
