Was the rig in the DZ gear room? Also while I don't agree with someone taking your gear without your ok, I think it's pretty fucking lame of you to be a repeated "taker" and abuse the generosities that were extended to you time & time again by the DZO and staff of skydive the farm and yet when the time came for you to give back a small return on the investment in you, you choose to be a chump about it, but hey that is your right it's your gear. However next time you dare to show up @ STF don't expect any favors from Hans like work jumps,, free parking, free camping, free showers, free coffee, free beer, free indoor packing, discount slots for family, free gear rental, free shuttle rides, free LZ shuttle rides, or any of the cool shit that makes the farm the farm. And Hans, thank you for all the cool shit you have done for me over the years for free or for cost (MOSTLY FREE). free coach jumps for one of my students free gear rental for same student free use of class room & tools @ anytime Allowing me to bring students there and treating us like kings! free place to crash with AC free beer free shuttles free use of jumpsuits free jumps or paid slots discount slots for my rating all your help in general and asking your staff to work free or for slots in order to help others. As you know your welcome to use any of my gear at anytime without asking permission. Can't wait till I can visit again! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Sounds like it's easier to fold up then stay and fight the city manger via the FAA part 13 & 16 process... sad to see yet another dz ran off of a public funded airport. Aggie dave what is the scoop? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

I have answers to ALL your ASC/SKYRIDE ??'s
stratostar replied to 1SMART1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Again get your facts right, the FAA is not there to "save" the company they are there to enforce the grant funding contract the county signed for federal money. Really. You expect a response from me like that. So who's ass am I saving then? Maybe you need to step back and get your shit together before you post more of your attacks on people and try to lump them in with skyride or as supporters. If you know so much go talk to the AG of GA then. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

We'll now, it seems you know very little over all, that quote is not from the paper, it maybe the paper used it. That quote is from the FAA's grant assurances advisory circular 150/5190-7 Exclusive Rights and Minimum Standards for Commercial Aeronautical Activities http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/advisory_circular/150-5190-7/150_5190_7.pdf Please read subsection F "skydiving" on page 10 [/url] You might want to educate yourself a little before you go running your mouth. I have never been a skyride supporter nor do I care for the owners or supporters of their operations. However I do support airport access of skydiving operations to federal funded airports, and sometimes we have to allow others the same rights we expect enjoy even if they are scumbags. I do find funny that you claim 12 years in the sport and have been working for them for the last two years and only now you seem to get a clue & find out how bad they are.... what you live under a rock? Again might be good of you to do your home work before running your mouth about people! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Not really, he is pointing out the fact he the DZO ate the slots (free jumps) to the OP in order to give a chance to someone who wanted to do video. This cost the operation money, now had the guy had the skills to do the job it would be a good investment on Hans part, however it was not...... Then when the DZO is need of a favor it was or was not repaid, in this case it seems it was not, instead the DZO is getting flamed. I was not there I have no idea what was said by the OP, however I have personally dealt with Hans on a number of times and in fact he is a one of the most giving DZO's I've known and he asks nothing or very little in return. I'm willing to bet that nothing would have ever been said about the OP's lack of skills or repayment for the comp slots by Hans, ever, however the OP choose to make a stink, now hearing the other side of the story and knowing the DZO and how giving and helpful he is to many many people, I find it hard to believe Hans or any of his staff would take a rig and use it if the owner had said NO. I have never found Hans to lie or not be honest in his business dealings, I have seen him give to students in order to make skydivers, I have seen him give to help others get ratings and all at his expense to do so, if anything he is in fact a class act! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

No I used the broken one to wrap the lines and half hitch it, that is as long as there is enough left to do so and only when needed, most normal people carry extra's in their gear bag. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Read FAR 105.43..... Who is legal to pack a parachute? Answer is, the person jumping it, a packer under the direct supervision of a rigger or a rigger. While a whole host of places fail to have a rigger supervising the packers, if I was wanting to pack on a dz for money and didn't know shit about it, seems like finding the head rigger and buying lunch for him to talk about it.... before you get to the lunch study up on packing by watching pack like a pro video, and get your hand dirty a bunch, that way your not a total noobie. It might help some of us to know where you are, many of us know people and could lead you to the right person to talk with. It's hard work to be good at it and fast, but it's one of the best paid jobs on the dz. Also you being a pilot will help keep you working on most dz's. Might plan of a lot of PB&J for a few weeks till you "hired". Good luck. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Not at all. Those cats these days are still smart, they know better then to take that up when there is better stuff today for the same job. There are however some old gear nuts who will jump most anything.... or for lack of better words, are "stupid enough to wear it out the door" and as the old rigger saying says, can't see it on my back, but here is your seal.... The whole rig did pack small. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

For everyday use.... no For a vintage rig set up with the proper trained person using it once in a blue moon... yes provided it was still airworthy and said "proper trained person" is stupid enough to wear it out the door. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

This iceberg thing.... yea, just like the sport it's self... you only hear of the bad shit taking place, there are also some important people in high places taking a look @ skydiving.... while the "findings/rulings" have not been final/published/public yet, the outlook looks more positive for the sport as a whole. However, one or two, three, four, bad apples shining the bad light on full power, at the wrong time could bring a lot of ($$$) hurt to everyone who is left standing. On another note.... what was that guy's name who always was getting called a "agenda grinding prick" and out to get Bill and Lodi evey time he posted something that called in to question the MX @ that DZ? Can't think of that dudes name..... you know the one from Cali everyone said was a loud mouth know nothing shit talker...... NO no no, not Bill Von! () That other Cali dude from up northern way..... WTF is his name..... Just sometimes People can be very insightful in their statements. It's a shame that type of corner cutting stuff still takes place. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

17 year old turns in at Start Skydiving!
stratostar replied to dbcooperfan's topic in Safety and Training
Back in the day when I made my first jump @ 16 yrs old, it was common place for that to take place.... I see no real problem with allowing youth of the age 16 and above to jump. The problems arose out of greedy lawyers and some stupid parents who didn't "get it" that little suzy or johnny could get hurt or die, so when scum sucking ambulance chasing lawyer showed up..... that is when the problem started! Let's keep underage people from doing anything fun, no skateboarding, snow skiing, snowboarding, biking, rollerblades, motoX, wave runners, jet ski, swimming...... keep them wrapped in bubble wrap and your lawyer on speed dial. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
