That is just my point, it's all in how the "friendly FAA person" conducting the ramp check chooses to deal with your "stamped" data card. I've seen it happen with wildly different takes on the reg's by inspectors from different fsdo's. I've also been on demos at airshows and got ramped checked and they didn't have clue what they were looking at on a parachute. With the FAA field inspectors it's all in who you get on that day and what kind of mood their in, sometimes. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

why take the risk? if your buddy wants skydiving images for cards I (along with a number of folks here) would be more then happy sell him a license on a number of great images. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I've never had any rigging clients come back and say that the data card with a stamped sig was not valid at a dz, so i don't think that is a fair example, a better example would be: Your standing in line to board the AC (or just landed in the LZ) and the FAA walks up and starts a ramp check of all parties on the load and the AC, during the ramp check each jumper is asked for their data cards and the friendly FAA person takes a look at yours with a stamped sig on it and says it's void because it's not in a written manner on the card and they cite Sec. 65.131 Records ... Now you have a problem. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Doug lost a lot of money in the mexican porn industry when the donkeys went on strike for six months and the fill in chickens turned out to be all fluff and no beak. So in order to make ends meet he sold the airport property to a condo development for seniors and was moving operations to the Ottawa airport and has started a new booking company because of all the money in it. You could more then likely still get a good deal on a slightly used mexican porn donkeys & chickens, but the PAX 750 will still run you 5K a week. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It's that very kind of attitude with pilots, FBO's and airport advisory boards that leads to legal issues and hassle of approved users by local goverment, you being a jumper who currently jumps on a federal funded airport you might try to educate yourself before Start wears out their welcome of other airport users in Middletown , it only takes one asshole to cause your DZ problems with the uneducated airport sponsor. (airport board & city leaders) The try reading chapters. Chapter 4 - Federal Grant Obligations and Responsibilities Chapter 5 - Complaint Resolution Chapter 8 - Exclusive Rights Chapter 9 - Unjust Discrimination between Aeronautical Users Chapter 10 - Reasonable Commercial Minimum Standards Chapter 12 - Review of Aeronautical Lease Agreements you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Maybe & maybe not, define "field day" They clearly state the board is not saying they can't jump on at/on the airport, they are saying they won't lease them space. All airports developed with federal funding is required under contract to make the airport open to the public, of the people, by the people, for the people. Any approved activty or operator is allowed to use. lease airport property. Airport property developed with federal funding monies is required to make avilable to aviation use. In other words the airport sponsor can't buy up all the land around the airport with federal funding and the lease it all to a farmer and tell an aviation business like an S.A.S.O. or F.B.O. or Repair shop, paint shop, flight school, banner towing, crop dusting, aerial photography companies they can not locate and operate in the airport property. They however are not required to lease you jack shit! Buying the plot of land next door and putting in an opening so you can taxi onto the airport to takeoff is considered a "hole in the fence" operator, the FAA strongly advises airport sponsors to to not allow such operators because it "encumbers" the airport land that was paid for with tax payers money and any such granting of "hole in the fence" will be grounds to be denied additonal funding request. Minimum Requirements with Go Pro versus big camera

That is because it's the only answer and has been going on for years in regards to lowtimers jumping cameras. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
It's not a cheap shot and it dose have to do with your initial question. Because it's about another persons perceptions. Your posting and stating your perception of another. I'm pointing out real events as well and by some other peoples perceptions of you from an observation of your instruction. So that's same as you state about your events, there were factors in what happened that from your point of view caused the events, same could be said about the two events your ranting about, it's all about who's shoes your wearing. Nope it's in a thread for anyone to get (hint the link to the post), I remember them being posted by Scotty., not so fun now is it to have your own handy work being called into question by outside observations and with media that can be taken out of context or used to make you look bad. Sure the hell is, I or others could say your an old fuck who can't do stand up tandems and because you surf your students through the landing area and your known to bust up people that you have no business jumping/flying with students and your old ass needs to stay on the porch teaching ground school! So again maybe you need change your perspective and move on, or back up your accusations with facts and take your facts to your regional director. And as far my profile or my personal info, all you need to know is I'm a curent USPA AFF-I, S/L-I & JM, Sr Rigger, camera, first jump 8-83 and a I'm a lifer. The rest of my info is none of your business and is not relevant to this topic. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It seems to me in this thread along with a number of other posts by you in other like minded threads, you have a personal problem with someone in Utah. You like to talk in code words, yet a good number of people have a good idea of who your talking about in your threads. So why all the code words? Why not just out who you have a problem with? A number of things come to mind here. 1.What proof do you have this person no longer fly's as well as they did before injury or due to age? 2. Are you a medical professional? 3. Who put you in charge to make that determination, are you the S&TA or DZO? 4. Have you ever been involved with a Fatality? 5. Have you ever injured a student yourself on a tandem jump like busting an ankle or surfing their face through the landing area? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=118515; 6. Are you a USPA I/E and are you doing reevaluation jumps with the person in question to make such a determination? 7. So if the guy in question that you're always hating on got his ratings from Jay Stokes and if this persons ratings are shit, what does that say about yours? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Bill, I bet the school district has a nice mac some where in the district and the iphoto & imovie & itunes will all work together seemlessly it's all drag and drop once you load your media, you could do this in house if you can find the Mac. Learning it is easy vs learning a windows based format. Just food for thought. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

So would it be fair to say that IYHO if someone took a course for a rating from Mr. Stokes and they pass post accident, then they would meet the requirments to in fact jump with students? Or are you saying that, if I, at age 45 and post accident healed by a number of months and dispite indepth training and course work conducted in a course ran by Mr. Stokes in the last few months by a person who is post accident from last season, that they are not up to snuff to work with students dispite the fact they were passed by Mr. Stokes for the rating in the last month, week, due to age and injury the year before? And your basing this on the fact an AFF lost a grip or a TM was rehurt on a jump and had to do what they needed to do in order to get back on the ground with a student safety and had to have a student help flair a tandem? Please explain in more detail. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Minimum Requirements with Go Pro versus big camera
stratostar replied to marcantonio152's topic in Photography and Video
Well you could say something and you could go over and bash your head into the wall too. In other words why waste your time they most likely won't listen to you anyway. We will see more and more of this now that the GO pro is in the market because everyone thinks because it's small there is no danger like a big camera. And as long as DZO's and S&TA's will let them on the plane with it your fighting a lost cause. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Really unimpressed with arrogant twatmuppets.
stratostar replied to Calvin19's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Because to be legal in the USA those packer are under supervision of a ticketed rigger who is responsibility for those pack jobs. And myself as a rigger who has done a lot of supervision of the packing mat, I can tell you that under my ticket you will be tested and prove you can do the work, you don't walk in and start packing. A ticket holder packing all kinds of parachutes has already proven to the FAA they pack. you can go get your ticket and no one will think twice about you packing HPC's too. But if your like the OP you might take some heat. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
I get your point in the OP's case, however I don't agree if we start talking about a skydiver cutting a reserve riser (front or all) you can bet that had the person that cut Mr. Verners riser been found there would so many experts lined (Dewolf, Pointyer, Strong, Booth etc) for the prosecutors side to prove that there is no way a person with enough know how to cut a reserve riser or ripcord and get it back in a rig so as to not be noticed before use and then used would in fact be an act to try to kill the user. The only reason someone was not charge in that case or Mullins is because they couldn't prove who did it. But I bet those two guy have a good idea of who it was. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Air Traffic Control: So Easy a Caveman Could Do It!
stratostar replied to Andy9o8's topic in The Bonfire
Yes see and avoid, VFR, but the ACT guy was hung on that, so in my book, why give any FAA person a reason to eyeball you by doing that, so soon after the mid-air, you have to assume the FAA are watching that area/airspace and ACT for additional fuck ups. And Spence is right here, I bet some up tight asshole who heard it calle it in. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
AFF Training and State-hopping?
stratostar replied to Fruitfly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Your right, this young lady is now an experienced jumper, who makes visits to the farm when not in school up north and has a number of friends @ the farm. The main reason Hans and staff were so welcoming is not only because we're friends, he truly felt bad this girl had to sit all day on Friday. Not only did they make sure this student had a great time , skinnyshrek did stills and video and refused to take any payment. (I made sure to have her leave a couple cases of beer in his trailer though< sure do miss that guy!) The whole trip was made great because of the kindness shown there, i can't say enough good things about the place, that dz made a skydiver that day and left a very great impression on this young lady, I wouldn't be surprised to see her working there in the summer or after collage. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
AFF Training and State-hopping?
stratostar replied to Fruitfly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes there is no reason you couldn't, make sure you have your logbook up to date and signed ect. In some cases (I've ran in to this before) some dz's like to try to stiff students and charge them more or make them redo a level because they didn't start at that dz even if they were current, its pretty lame and fucked up thing to do, so if you run into that move on to another. You can always have your current dzo make a call on your behalf to help roll out the welcome wagon, keep in mind not all dzo's will be willing to do so, I had a young lady from the Atlanta area that was invited to go on a road trip in the winter to jump at the farm. Her home dzo tried to tell her is was not safe to do that and later bitched me out for inviting her along because i was taking money away from the spring thaw. We first made a stop in Alabama on a super nice friday and at this USPA gm dz we were not allowed to drop her due to a bunch of lame reasons and a travling current rated USPA instructor was not allowed to drop her, even had guys with the 101st AB on site and they were not allowed to drop her, so in short we wasted a day watching the blue sky fade. However once we got the class act of skydive the farm, the dzo and staff bent over backwards to see to it this student was in the air, Hans was way beyond friendly and to be honest he took a loss on the income, didn't charge her gear rental and even had an instructor make jumps with her for slot only. So you never know each place will set a the tone it's up to you choose wise. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
