I have no idea what year that was, but under todays rules, that wouldn't happen without the FAA saying so, not the SCCAA. Any federal funded airport is required to keep open for the people, by the people, of the people & see my sig line from AC 5190/150-7 http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/advisory_circular/150-5190-7/150_5190_7.pdf You might want to read about airport land lease issues Here For the record, I think they've screwed the pooch due the companies local and regional reputation and dealings. The reason I would say such has a lot to do with the Yazoo City MS case you can read about it Here but for the good details you need to read the case files and you can get that from USPA. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Z-Hills - Skydive City Aircraft Update
stratostar replied to tkhayes's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yep a whole bunch of j-3 cubs, all that yellow lined up in a row, I gotta wear shades. We did 40 ways yesterday that was pretty cool formation flying, climb outs are a little slow, and the exits are spread out, you just have to be a good diver...... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Popsjumper says: One point of mis-understanding in your thinking here. AAD funds, or airport access defense funds. No USPA will not just jump up to the plate and start spending AAD funds. It dose not work that way. In short, an operator would have to have gone through the process of a part 13 informal complaint with the FAA and then have that go to part 16 formal complaint, have spent a large sum in legal already of their own expense, the case ruling will have national impact on the sport as a whole before the full BOD will take a vote to spend the AAD funds. Diver1 says: First you might want to start here for airport access fights , Some of the links are no longer working due to even more new updates in the last few months to the info on the FAA's side, if you search the FAA's site for the keywords or FAR/AC/Order number you will find the newer released info.) We need ask a few questions to get the answer. 1. Is it federal funded ? 2. If yes, then yes they can not renew the lease for ASC in some cases and not violate the grant funding contract. What they can't do (if federal funded) is say the farm is no longer allowed to use the airport too, or tell another skydiving operator they can't open a S.A.S.O. on the field. (They can try too) As for the USPA, I don't see why or how USPA would pick up the fight on behalf of ASC, that is not their job. ASC is only afforded the same and equal support from USPA as any other group member, no more, no less. In other words someone will answer the phone and provide the guidance the same as they would to any member. That dose not mean sending USPA lawyers after Poke county. If it's not a federal funded airport, they do as they damn well please and you can fuck off! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Bill Dause is under the chopping block!!
stratostar replied to ts1962's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
All that is fine a dandy, but it don't mean you know shit about what is really going on there or at any dz, your washing and cleaning the airplanes each week don;t make you an expert on how well maintained the AC is or is not maintained, or you standing around seeing happy TDM people leave, don't mean you know that Bill is no longer hiding cash from the books under his bed. (not that he is doing that, or at least no reports someone has ripped off his bed again) Point is a person has to be involved in the very inter workings to really know the dark side of anyplace or operator, a simple passing by or a season of instructing is not going to provide you with the insight of people who have spent 10, 15 or 20 years working on site. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
An outlaw base jumper is only endangering their own life, unless they bounce on someone, but seeing how most inter city bandit base jumps are at late night early morning, I doubt that is a high risk. As for pulling low, yep done it many times, however again I'm only risking my own ass! Should a base jumper or low puller have their ratings pulled because of their actions of base or low pull? Unless the base jumpers are selling first jump tandem students base tandems on the dz for later that night, then NO. Low pulling, last time I checked the BSR's are not rules there recommendations, for one thing and second, unless the said low pulling instructor is asking the FJC class to come out to the LZ and watch how it's done and then dose a live display of how to pull low as part of the FJC training, then NO their ratings should not be pulled. That dose not mean a rating holder should not be leading by example and follow the recommendations of the USPA. But pulling low is not a rating removal action. Tandem CREW with joy riding wuffo's is RISKING THE UNKNOWING WUFFO'S life! (even if they are asked, "would you like to sit on that other parachute") You seem to fail to understand the difference. And it's a big one. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

If I let my 14 year old solo a sail plane, legal under the FAR's, is that child endangerment? illegal under state law? Why should 14 year olds be legal to solo a sail plane, yet not be afforded to jump? The FAR's say nothing in regards to age to jump. I started jumping at age 16 and i see no problems allowing 16 year olds to jump in any progression, but I also don't make the states laws. With that said, if it's legal under the FAR's for solo flight in an aircraft at 14, it should legal to allow a flight that exits an aircraft in flight two years later. i think the age should be left alone, the FAA looks to the USPA to set guidance for sport parachuting in the US, we're saying two years after your allowed to solo a sailplane, you can jump out of one.

A lot of the times we have people ask questions about dzo's doing things and we may or may not know the answer too, one such question we've have heard before , a number of times is something like this: So I assume your trying to ask the same question and didn't word it right. I'm not a MX ticket holder, I believe I have the answer you seek, however there other people on here much better suited to answer your question then I, so lets see what kind of answers we get to the above question in bold. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

These are the FAR's that apply to jump op's Subchapter D--Airmen Part 61--Certification: Pilots, Flight Instructors, and Ground Instructors Part 65--Certification: Airmen other than Flight Crewmembers Subchapter F--Air Traffic and Operating Rules Part 91--General Operating and Flight Rules Part 105--Parachute Operations Subchapter G--Air Carriers and Commercial Operators for Compensation or Hire: Certification and Operations Part 119--Certification: Air Carriers and Commercial Operators However your questions needs to be worded better, I assume your looking for info that says it's ok for your to operate beyond TBO and you think your going to find that in part 91? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set
stratostar replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well it all started like all the other places around the country, one DZO started taking them and under cutting everyone else in the areas price, so next thing you know XYZ DZ started taking them too so they would lose more business, then next thing you know DZ ABC is doing it. The one DZO I was talking to, who knows I don't care for SR, said, "I know you and other don't like them, but i don't care the money is good and you guys didn't bitch about it when you guys were getting paid." & "If we don't take them then XYZ will get them" Meaning when staff didn't know they taking SR ticket holders and getting paid for the jumps. The whole thing is fubar'ed. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
City of Nashville vs Skyride court date set
stratostar replied to BillyVance's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Really, cuz I know a bunch of them who are taking the SR tickets and have been for sometime. At last count (as told to me by one DZO there) SWC, Greensburg, Start, air Indiana, to name a few as of the end of this season. I'm sure there are more in the region. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
To make more clear my post. 1. Must be a part 16 formal complaint 2. Out come will harm/help all USPA members not just one dz or dzo. 3. Person in part 16 fight will have already spent a large sums And the "about to lose" part is not correct in my earlier post. In other words AAD funding is not just handed out to anyone who asks for it. ( I know Jan knows this) Many people misunderstand how the AAD funding works, that is all. Also for the record, my use of the UsPay term coined by Mark S. is in no way a jab at USPA or those in HQ offices. It is in fact a poke at Mark. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I understand your well versed in the on goings of the workings of UsPay. However it has been explained to me, more then once, from HQ GR office that in fact AAD funds are not just handed out to those who ask for it. In fact AAD funds are only used for access rights cases (part 13 & part 16) that are not going well, and the DZO will have to show they have spend a rather large sum of money in legal fees and they are about to lose the case. This will require the full BOD to sign off on the spending. So from the sounds of it to me, it's not all that easy to get AAD funds. They printed my photo and didnt even credit me
stratostar replied to jtval's topic in Photography and Video
The question in this case is who gave them the photo? If it was the USAFWB officers or just a team member? Did you take the image on your own dime or did you do the "work for hire" as a member of the USAFWB? Because it would seem to me that if your taking images of the WB's as a member of that team and employed by the tax payers of the USA then all those images belong to uncle sam and not you. Not knowing your contract I have no real idea, but it's food for thought. If the images is yours they owe you payment, if the images is property of US government then your SOL. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Thats why if you don't look at your whole time in this sport as continued education from the end of your first jump till you quit or die you have the wrong attitude. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It has nothing to do with that volume of the system, the system is projecting away from the stage, where as the natural audio levels on stage for the drums is not amplified. The plexiglass is to contain acoustic energy from the drums. Plexiglass does not absorb sound; virtually all of the sound created by the drums is reflected. With more and more in ear monitors being used this is very common for on stage audio levels. This only one reason why some people use them, some drummers like the sound these kits make keeping the sound redirected towards them and making the natural acoustics of the drums louder, it also will allow for the mics on the drums to use less over all volume gain for front of house projections. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
