Choosing the Right Dropzone?
stratostar replied to SuicidalSophist's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Each has it's own + & - , you might also take a look at the Jim Wallace School @ Perris Valley. You might find it a more personal one on one training or not your style? A visit to all 4 schools would be in order, each is still close enough to use the tunnel @ perris and using the tunnel in conjunction with your AFF would be a wise move on your part. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

From the Skydive Paris TN vs Henry County case files. One of the countys reasons for banning jump op's was the DZ over lapped an OFA (object free area) and there for endangered arriving and departing AC. There is a lot more to the case that would pertain to this case in TX, albit one is a federal funded airport and one is private, regardless the dertimation has been made from the very high up in the FAA and still holds water today and is cited in other airport access cases by the FAA. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I don't believe based on my communications with, that the GR office at USPA or even the FAA, holds the same point of view as you, and that's a good thing they don't. Then again I could be wrong maybe we could get Randy's point of view posted. Then again the airport we're talking about in private, so some rules don't apply as they would on a federal funded one. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Compilation of Selected Aviation Laws As Amended Through April 1, 2009 Office of the Assistant General Counsel for Legislation U.S. Department of Transportation May 2009 Lot of good reading in there. Might also want to read the skydive Paris TN vs Henry County TN case, you can find the doc on www.uspa.org and if you don't find the whole case file ask USPA for it, to large a PDF to upload here. In that case the FAA made it very clear "we" have the right to use the grass between the runway & taxiway the same as any "other aircraft". Many airport sponsors like to claim we can not use that space or taxi & runways, the space between the two are "safety zones" to be free of obstructions. The FAA general counsel says NO we can and have the same rights as any other "aircraft" to land there if need be and we don't cause a hazzard by doing so. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I sent you the documents that clearly Show/say a parachute is an aircraft once deployed and in flight! Parachutes are afforded the same rights and lattude as any other aircraft this info is right from the general counsel, you can't get ny higher then that for a rule meaning! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Maybe you need to get the kind with the arrow on the bottom so you know what why you should be going.... Two years ago on a round jump as the boys were loading up the AC I looked over at one of the guys rig and noticed the riser had one of the "piggyback" type RSL laynards on it.... but it was on the right side and not the left side, I nudged him and said there is a 50/50 chance you might be facing the wrong way as he got on the AC. Lets just say he a lost the bet and had to walk back. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

It's been posted before here and from what I understand it's NOT an act, I fail to see what so fucking funny about pushing out a jumper who is not in their "right mind" and can't even stand up to exit. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

The Great AFF Experiment has been an Abject Failure . . .
stratostar replied to NickDG's topic in Instructors
I can't even tell you the number of AFF students I 've seen who couldn't be trained/taught anything once off "student" jumps, yet didn't know shit, most of the mind set came from post AFF I's and DZO in how they sold the progression and or mindset. Same as we see those who chime in to dispute your post/thinking are mostly those who were sold the same bill of goods only a few years ago. If your not on the current bandwagon your seen as "out dated" or not progressive & "modern". IDK maybe we could get a beer from the bar and talk about this sitting around the pool and once we're done we could go fly drunk in the tunnel. I understand your points and agree over all with your point of view. FWIW I'm pre AFF FJC trained. I thing S/L or IAD is still a great progression for training people and one of the better for ones for college folks on a budget by keeping jumps affordable. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
