  1. Honest OFFICER Obe I was only checking the current going rates for a DZ.com poll......... Tell to the judge son! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  2. Well I have seen a shit load of that stuff given away for free to a caring a loving users who would take care of and use it....... I also have seen that same stuff sell for 500 bucks......LOL get more then you paid for back in the day.
  3. Sure. If you are thinking about trying to open on a public owned airport you might find this thread useful. Good luck. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  4. It's not worth the paper it's written on and adds no real value to a person looking to start up a DZ, unless your a total retard who has never set foot on a DZ let alone used a parachute and even then it's not going to tell you shit other then a few war stories and crap anyone who jumps with half a brain would already know or know where to look to find out. One would be better off making sure they fully understand the FAR's that apply as well one's rights to accessing the national airspace and how to go about doing so. The best thing USPA sells for a start up DZO type person is a video called "skydiving & parachute operations" it was co produced by the FAA & Jeppesen, PIA & USPA. This video also has a hand book that the FAA printed to go along with it, you should still be able to get copies via the FAA. These two together are a MUST HAVE to anyone wanting to operate on non towered at a general aviation airport, you will need the video and hand book to show to the morons who control the airport, it covers in detail "AC 90-66A Recommended Standards Traffic Patterns for Aeronautical Operations at Airports without Operating Control Towers" It is wise to have a copy of the current SIMS, and be very up to speed on FAR 105 & 91, AC 90-66A If you planing to use a "Public Owned Airport" (federal funded) then be up to speed on FAA order 5190A and AC 5190/150-6, AC 5190/150-7. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  7. Car rental, it's about an hours drive, maybe a little less. You might get lucky and find a jumper here who could give you a ride to Z-hills, but don't count on any skydivers. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. Starcrest or Soldier of fortune...... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  9. Great point Jan, if we can wade thru all the bullshit TK bashing, maybe we could learn few things about Tim. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  10. Not according to Istel. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  11. To a degree, yes I can. However as a person who has made a living skydiving in a seasonal area, I never went the cheap route for my gear once we moved out of the "pro-tec" class of head gear. The amount of hassle & time to make my own pads don't out weight the cost factor of buying new pre made by the factory to fit set of pads. In fact if you really wanted it to fit right you would take the order form and get the numbers for your skull and then order the right size pads from BH. I might have a second set pads, if I can find them, I'll let you know. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  12. Let see if I got this right....... Your going to buy a used 700.00 helmet, attach to it another couple hundred bucks worth of wires and acc. then top it off with another 1000.00 or so worth of cameras and a few hundred worth of lens and then after all that crap your going to whine about the cost of buying a new set of 65.00 $$ replacement pads so you can set up your kit to fit you the right way. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  13. The point was not to give some kiddie a thrill, it was so Steve could stand in the landing area and watch to see if said kid pounded in or not, it don't take a rocket engineer to decide a pounding or not a pounding, comp pc's land like shit you better be in the pit! That is what it was made for..... This one has a mod to "see" if it will fly like a MK-1, sure sound like a good time for a "test pilot" to me...... Hey kid, hold my beer and watch this while I video...
  14. You should be about 200 out the door with gear on, you should be fine, work on your PLF. To bad your not closer I would lone you one of my jumbos for that added sqft for old guys..... Have someone get video & stills and report back. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  15. Well @ 180 without gear I used to stand up my MK-1 all the time, this was @ 980 MSL not 3K MSL and a 60 yr old crusty slydog.... But we did have a guy in his late 60's and early 70 join us a number of years in a row, I think his last was @ age 72. Might want want to get one of those young whippersnappers to test jump it for you first to see if that rigging works. I understand, their fun to jump I like it a lot. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. How much out the door are you going to be LBS? What MSL is your DZ ? Are you landing on ground or planing on water? Are you sure you don't want use a Jumbo PC?
  17. Unless it's for the right price, of course! Look dude, you gotta quit being so 1996 man, it's a new century bro, thaaaangs is diff these daze you dig. Hell a lot of dz's been paying a third party to terrorize the students, these guys are making all the bread doing it in house and having a good time too.. Hey man 2009 already it's all about the cash flow "show me the money" bitch! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  18. Well I have a good size collection of rounds myself that I own and jump.... One of my buddies has the wonderhog witha 27ft russian in it, I've jumped it and packed it a bunch of times, the dogears look funny if you go to flake it, untill you pull down the apex center line and stow the slack. The 23ft russian we had arond did not have the same as the 27ft. Both are packed like a normal PC pack job. None of my PAP's, MK-1 PC's or my Jumbo PC's have the center line stow like my buddies 27ft. Russian. (we got it off Bill Cole in a complete rig for 300 bucks) you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  19. Well most of the ones I know, I would say yes, most the years say 8 or so on would count for something a lot of times those "kids" can do every job on the DZ, even fly the plane, have done it all for years and in a lot cases are still doing it and have every rating you could think of. I've known a number of them in my time in and around the sport. Clint Clawson Rook Nelson Jon Stewart and all the other Stewart kids All the Mullins Kids Just to name a few people I know and I think a few other people might know as well....... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  20. 23 & 27 ft models. I've seen them all packed in every deployment type and packed like a normal PC, Other then on the 27 you have to pull down the apex while packing it, there should be two stows in the skirt area for the slack of the centerline. (going from memory here gang) you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. My personal vintage collection of sport gear and every now and again a pilot bail out. I used to have a round in my sport rig, but thats been 14 years ago, no so much about getting older & wiser as is it about being able to jump in higher winds...... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
