I had some photos I took and gave to a friend show up in a front page of a newspaper and I didn't get credit for the image or any pay. I called and left a MSG with the editor that said I wanted to talk to him about my copyright violation on my image in his paper and he needed to call me back ASAP, wasn't 10 mins later my phone rang and anc check in the mail. I pretty sure the reporter who submitted the story had one sore ass for sometime, any respectable publication will right the wrong with you because they all know you have them by the balls. Where are all the Strong-rated TI's when you need them
stratostar replied to feuergnom's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Well yea I agree with you, but myself, I'm not a TI and I'm still waiting for a shipment of DHT rigs to show up before I can speak up as a rig owner. I also don't have all the indepth testing facts as he would have working at the factory. However I do have a number of "saves" to my credit on DHT systems and have filmed a large number of jumps on the system, so I can only speak from that point of view. My post here I felt was more useful then stepping in that hot pile of turds over in the other thread and I felt Tom was doing a great job in a factual manner, we (Tom & I) have spoke a number of times about issues, he is easy to reach and talk with, so for the record I support SE & Tom. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
It would be really cool if there was a way to save a post as a draft in order to work on it more or to think it over for a day before posting it, that way we wouldn't have to copy & paste into a word doc or other. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Buy yourself a SIMS @ www.uspa.org or down load one for free and in there you will find the answers you seek for many things and you need to know most of it anyway. But to answer your questions, in short yes you can. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I guess you didn't get the DHT union member memo about the rating card & gear burning party over at Skydive Abel Tasman. It's clear that due to the unsafe history of that product and company everyone has decided to use the other guys stuff because it never fails and has never killed anyone! What Can We Do About Skyride II
stratostar replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I really could care less about those, let the cruise boat & shark diving industry fight that battle. The point being in my post to Martin is the fact that not one DZ in the state of KS dose business with SR or takes their ripoff GC's and they have all those fake "Dropzones" in all those Kansas towns. I would think the other real dropzones owners would have an interest in pointing all this info out to the AG of KS due the nature of the KS laws and the fake "KS Business" being duped on the people of the state of KS and the harm being done to real places of business in the skydiving industry doing real business in KS. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Airshow Performer Chandy Clanton Killed In Crash Email this article |Print this article By Glenn Pew, Contributing Editor, Video Editor Chandy Clanton, three-time member of the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team and several time EAA AirVenture Oshkosh performer, was killed Friday in her Edge 540 ahead of the Wingnuts Flying Circus in Tarkio, Mo.; she was 36 years old. Clanton was scheduled to fly in the show that will now go on without her and was also scheduled to fly this year at AirVenture. Clanton's aviation history included airshow performances and experience in aircraft ranging from the Piper Cub through the P-51 to the King Air and Lear Jet (Clanton earned a type rating in a Lear 24 with only 400 hours in her logbook, according to her Web site). Outside of aviation, Clanton served as president of Bank Iowa Corporation, which manages banks in 21 locations. She was also the mother of two young boys and a strong supporter of Mission Central for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

What Can We Do About Skyride II
stratostar replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nice skirt there Carol. Now how about you fill us all in with your insight and wisdom on the question asked. As for Nope I think I would stay put and keep my aircaft and SASO right there on the field and track each and every dime lost due to the illegal actions of Henry County and wait on the FAA to complete their Safety Study. Based on past history it should be an easy win and open up the door to sue the living shit out of the county for violating my rights and harming my business instead of running down the road like a coward with my tail tucked. Oh course I also wouldn't be doing all the crooked shit your company has a long history of doing and also causing waves with the airport auth. and violating the Minimum Standards and giving the airport auth. legal cause to shut me down in the first place. You might want read the part 16 win by USPA in Yazoo MS. You might learn a thing or two about why your DZ may not ever be back on Outlaw while another DZ might be able set up shop with no problems. The only bridge your guys have burned is your own, yet again. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Well your so educated in how federal funding & the FAA works, please bless us all with your wisdom as to the many reasons you say could/maybe will affect all jumpers in the USA, this I would like to hear. So how is your guys part 13 or part 16 case moving along? Must not be going to good if the dz has had to moved down the road. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
I beleive it was: Are you getting scared yet? I'm not scared, hell no I'm not scared, This guys is.... That is a good guess, however the the USDOT defines an aircraft as : http://testimony.ost.dot.gov/compilation/ Being the house that the FAA lives at (USDOT), I would have to say the answers is A an aircraft. Also as a "parachutist in command" of an open and flying "aircraft" that mean your a: OK there is a catch 22 here, parachutist are NOT certificated airman! But some of us are, pilots/riggers/A&P's ect. So WHY? is this info important to us??? Well how many times do you hear about some asshat airport authority or airport board/city/county trying to ban skydiving and parachuting from taking place and or landing on the airport. We see it a lot more then most would think. Here is why they can't do that legally under the US code. We are defined as an aircraft, there for we have as much right to enjoy and use an airport as much as any other "type, kind & class" of aircraft. Dose this mean you can do hop & pops into JFK or O'hare? Well hell no, do be stupid! We still have to follow the airspace requirements and FAR's, this means if you follow the right rules in fact you could do a hop & pop into those places, but don;t hold your breath on getting approval from the FAA. Yes it can be done, I have done demos right off the end the runway to a major, major airport without a problem, hell they didn't stop jet traffic from departing while we under canopy. The reason being is we were in the "cone" of the runways, none of those big ass jets were going to be turning and crossing our path and we were to low to impact those flights, it took the right paper work and working with FAA & ATC to make it happen and we were given a short window to enter the airspace to make the jump. Also of interest to some peeps here who I know are reading this: This is great news for those who are in the fight or about to be in a fight with said asshats. http://www.nata.aero/data/files/g%20&%20i%20affairs/minimum_standards/060909ms_pr.pdf you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I'm willing to say NO I bet not, the the AAD funding dose not work like that, it is for part 16 cases and you pretty much have too spend a shit load of money first and you need to be about ready to lose the case before the AAD funding could come into play. The AAD funding is not a fund for just any old lawsuit, it must be president setting and impact airport access nation wide. One of the reason I post this http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3590949;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread (we're not done with that thread yet FYI just waiting on a few things to go down) is for those who wish to understand the rights and the process of how this kind of crap works, based on the the number of replies in the thread, it clearly show too many jumpers could care less and many times think it's of no concern to them and dosen't affect them. It's not untill some asshat or a group of asshats try to ban them in their local area then all of a sudden we see a sudden interest in "getting help" from USPA or the skydiving community as a whole. If you know and understand your rights for national airspace access and how to go about taking a stand, BEFORE this kind of crap you can plan on spending a lot of money for a lawyer. If on the other hand your well virsed in this area you can do a lot without a legal team and the expense. One draw back to this case is the private land factor and not being federal funded airport. With that said, the FAA is well virsed in dealing with "safety issues" raised by "concerned citizens" and 90% of the time those folks are not just wrong, but really wrong and this is where knowing all this crap comes into play. I wish my friends in Waller the best of luck, nice place to visit, good peeps over there. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Tunnel Time before AFF ???
stratostar replied to bocabruce1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Are you an AFF rated I? Did you know most people unsat Cat C (level 3) this is the CAT when your first let go of and your job is fall stright down in the "box". This where 90% of people start to spin, backslide or the jump gose to hell quickly. (yes it's our job to not let that happen, but shit happens!) IMHO a person would be better off understanding and knowing how to control the movements before Cat C & D, so that once at that point the jump will go much better, you can clearly see the difference of those who did tunnel time before and those who didn't, in MOST cases, I have seen a number of naturals though, but not most students. Those who didn't are more likely to repeat Cat C & D jumps. Those did are able to control fall rate, turns on heading and in control, forward and back movement, with and without docks and in some cases sideslides. Really good training in the tunnel will have them doing a combo of those moves together, doing it smooth and in control. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Tunnel Time before AFF ???
stratostar replied to bocabruce1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Tandem teaches really shitty body position, for one and second an AFF is way different then tandem. You say you want to save money, well if you have to repeat a number of CAT's (levels) in the AFF progression..... Are you really saving money? You live close enough to make a visit to the tunnel, then spending 15 mins in the thing will do wonders for your flying skills when it come time to let go of you in FF. You know most of the worlds best skydivers train in the tunnels. Like Dave said it's fun too and you might learn a thing or two while at it. If you want to work on your landings......start by jumping off your picknic table frontwards, backwards & sideways and doing a good PLF. In closing, lose weight, drive fast, take chances and date your riggers wife. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
