So your some kind of expert in knowing how and why people start threads? Or are you speaking of posts made by lowpullterri in the incidents forums? As for my personal reasons for posting this, I had replied to LPT in the other thread, some of it was taken out of context and the post were removed over there. I don't know personally any of the parties involved, never met them, but I did make a few jumps in Archway when Dave Verner owned it. I have seen things just like this take place in the industry before, I have seen how once it dose the first thing most people loyal to the dz & dzo do is claim that the person or persons who say "this happened" are called a whole host of things to discredit them and their story. Most all the bandwagon riders blindly ingest the kool aid and are the ones who talk the most shit about how the those people are making up shit to "get even" or are just nutcases. It has been my experience that well educated professional working people have no need to make up stories to "get even" and in fact would tell the truth because any lies would feed into the other camps propaganda of they are telling lies and are a nutcase trying to ruin the dz & dzo in order to get their jumping friends to shun them and remain loyal little lemmings. To many newer people to the sport fail to understand or know there is the rules of "keep your fucking mouth shut" we don't teach that in the FJC, many, many people over the years are shocked to learn how unregulated this industry is and how little the FAA over sees things, once something happens and they see how things really work in the sport and how little USPA dose to enforce the GM pledge or BSR's, so in the interest of informing new posters and even some old ones on here, that it's ok to post and speak your mind freely, but beware that if you say the wrong thing about DZO's or their staff, you might find yourself looking down the barrel of a gun in the parking lot or even in the parking lot of your new dz. have calls made to your place of employment, get your ass kicked, have your gear tampered with, find your car tires slashed, or a whole host of things along those lines. It's happened before and it will happen again. I do take at face value LPT's claim, no, do I believe it could have gone down that way, yes. Do I think if I called and asked for the dispatch log for that night, there would be a dispatch... yes. Do I think it's reasonable to say a rigger is negligent if they pack a student rig and leave the closing loop outside the cutter...? Yes I do think it's a fair statement if in fact that is the truth. I think the same would be said by many people of any rigger who made that fuck up, it's one of the reasons rigging is not a take lightly and do a sloppy job of it kind of deal, peoples last chance to live are on your ticket, even if they should have pulled the reserve ripcord other wise why have AAD's at all. Over all it leaves one to wonder who is really the one trying to "get even" at who in cases like this. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Ok, fair enough, that would explain the bad blood between the parties. With that said, that is no reason to pull a firearm on someone, you could call the cops if they were being a real problem. The only reason to pull a gun would be if the person had already pulled their gun or knife and was trying to harm another IMHO, you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Just the last few post of today were removed the thread is still there. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3969437;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread As for those early birds who would say a person would make up such a wild claim, why would they do that? Having seen first hand how low some dzo's will go to because someone would talk public about their negligence actions I don't find it all that hard to believe... I was not there I can't say it did happen as a dz dot com user has stated it did, but what reason could a person already on the shit list have for making up a felony towards there husband? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Posting here because I know the latest posts in the incidents forums will be edited/ pulled and or posters ask to move those kind of talks to another outlet. Like it or not in this sport there is a code of keeping your mouth shut and not openly talking about DZO's or dz staff wrong doing, even if your right about the facts your talking about or posting about in these forums. If you say or post things saying a dropzone owner acted with negligence in the incident forums you need to fully expect there to be fall out in your local and regional area if not nationwide with the friends of those your posting about. It will not matter how much truth is in your post or how many facts you have that back up your post, as we see in the recent threads about a longtime operator who was busted by the FAA and issued the largest fine in skydiving history, there will be those who don't care about endangering the customers in order to save a buck..... there will remain the die hard bandwagon riders who will support those your posting about, right or wrong. It has been reported that last night a dropzone dot com user who had posted harsh words towards a DZO/rigger involved in a fatal student jump, had her husband bare the brunt of the fallout for her postings on this site about the incident. It's been reported this husband (who hasn't posted FAWK) attended a dz party and was asked to leave in a calm manner and as he went outside to leave, he was followed by the dzo and two others, more words were exchanged and "reportedly" the DZO pulled a firearm on this guy as he was leaving. There is no excuse for pulling a firearm on someone who is leaving as asked or even because a spouse posted their own personal views on a subject in a dz.com thread, regardless not real smart to show up to a place where your other half has been bashing publicly the owner and not expect to be unwelcome, however it dose take big balls to show up there. You could post the truth about the Bernie Madoff of skydiving and your still going to end up on the shit list and people will hate you and even ban you from other dz's that is the just how the code of "keep your fucking mouth shut" about our illegal or negligence activities works in this industry, you are expected to turn a blind eye and remain quite, unless it's skyride. If you dare to work with the feds or LEO's or god forbid a lawyer, you can fully expect the other side to be gunning (pun intended) for you in many ways. Such as try to ruin your employment by calling your work place owner or boss and saying shit about you, having people show up when you least expect it to kick your ass pearl harbor style, tampering with your gear, calling all the other dzo's to ask you be banned or even pulling a gun on you if your stupid enough to show your face at a party/event they throw. It was asked if this is not the land of free speech? Well yes it is if you live in the USA, but that don't mean there will be no fallout even if your right about what you say/post here, if you can't take the heat don't jump into the fire pit. So post about dropzone owners & staff at your own risk of well being people! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I have used the system a lot, works just fine. If you reread the info on the link, it works as an SOS or two handle system regardless what handle is pulled it will cutaway the main. in other words... 1. if a person only pulls the SOS (reserve ripcord) it cuts away the main and pulls the reserve pin. 2. if a person pulls the cutaway handle, it cutaways the main and if the RSL is hooked up it will pull the reserve pin. (ONLY if the main is out) This is set up so people who have been trained on an SOS and not originally on a two handle system, who might brain fart they are now on a two handle system and not pull the cutaway handle first dose not end up with dumping the reserve into the trash. Yet it still affords those who were trained on two handles to use it that way. This system works good for trans over from SOS to two handles for those places who use SOS for student rigs and later on train you for two handles. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I've had a few AFF students tip once in a blue moon, it was always a real surprise. If your feeling up to it because you feel the instructor(s) deserve it, cool then by all means tip them. If your thinking it's kind of expected and yet your not really feeling it's earned as much as it's just expected, then just show up with some good beers and maybe order pizza to share once the sun sets and hang out and make friends.... Chances are that "vibe" will go away or turn into a happy dz vibe of your "home" dz with your new friends. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
