Sounds like your normal, go take a first jump class or do a third tdm, nothing wrong with that and stop trying to pop your ears before you damage them, they will pop on their own in other words don't force it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
I could tell it was a PC class canopy in the first set of pic where the lines were shown in the pack tray. BUT the connector links looked weird and then the riser release too.... So those were a dead give away as too that being eastern block design. But I really did know for sure. Mr. Chapman's comment was also a big ass hint. Cool stuff man, now go jump it or send it to me to test out once or twice, I'll send it back to you promise, scouts honor. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

The burn out factor comes from dealing with the assholes in the industry (dzo's & staff peeps) and dz politics, as well as providing the instruction and info to keep people as safe as we can, yet see the carnage of those morons with the "mad skillz" who fail to get it and we get to clean up the mess. I'll give an example of the kind of BS I'm talking about... On sept. 15th I drove 3 hrs to a dz to work there, by request. A few weeks before I had talked a student down on radio. In the following weeks, she asked a number of times if I would do the radio again when I came back to teach there next, because the people doing radio were pounding her into the ground on landing. As I sat in the parking lot starting the day, the young lady pulled in and saw me and first thing she said as she got out of the car, "your here, will you talk my down?" Her GF also standing there, said me too! We did the first load, both had great landings, fast forward an hour, after doing a TDM I walk in the clubhouse, I get asked, more like begged to talk them down again. I agreed to do so. Hell I love teaching and working with students! As I was walking out the door to go to the LZ. Another instructor starts yelling at me. "Are you going to talk them down again? You going to fucking up the whole operation again like that you did an hour ago, we don't need you to do that, we have people to do that!" and on and on and on he went yelling shit like that and cursing right in front of all the pending tandems sitting there waiting to go and the asshole was standing behind the manifest counter, so it looked like he was "the man" to the students. What had happened was, while I was talking down the first load, someone had manifested a number of loads, matching up students and instructors and planning the loads, they were not in any set order... The assholes on the DZ sat there bitching about me holding up the whole show and not taking my first TDM up, but there were two 182's sitting, they could go up and no one was holding up shit. Same as when Mr. asshole started yelling shit at me. Well I packed up my TDM rigs and my tools and left right then and if they though I was fucking up the whole show and causing delays, well they sure as hell got what they asked for because now they were down to one TDM-I & a good deal of people waiting and that was the whole reason why I was asked to come there! It's that kind of unprofessional bullshit that I'm talking about that leads people to say fuck it I don't get paid enough to put up with over ego'ed fuck heads on a power trip, hell I can go get a real job a put up that shit daily... People leave the real world to skydive to get away from all that shit they deal with during the week and the last thing they want to deal with is that shit following them to the dz. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Regardless, this letter will not change that, it is too easy to prove the safety side of this because of the "agents" break down over time. They don't like to use the words "explosive charge"..... think TSA. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Does your DZ try to guilt you if you have a cutaway?
stratostar replied to -SK-'s topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Me: Pchapman: Awhite: If you read what I wrote, I didn't say the OP was a student, I said we generally give a pass or two to students, because at that time your a student. However I would fully expect the jumper to assist in the search and finding of the lost gear. And I gave an example of the great detailed search in a corn field, you had to really crawl row to row on your knees to find it in late Sept. and it took two days of that to find it. Also I see many of you saying to hit the road to another dz. That might be good advice or maybe the OP is reading in more then there was to it, we have not heard the DZO's or pilots side of this. I've trained a shit load of people in 35 yrs and not everyone is sharp, seen a number of problem students who would chop if a flee farted or from simple line twist, while you can't call them a dumbass and find fault with a chop while your safe on the ground. That said, after dealing with, for months or weeks or even just days..... some people ware thin on the dzo & staff because they too dense in the head and so busy asking stupid questions they miss the important info being put forth. So what might seem as placing a "guilt" vibe, might just be annoyed and fed up dzo and staff who spent way more time dealing with one person who is a problem child who is maybe a step or two away from the "have you ever considered taking up bowling" speech. Or the dz this person jumps at are just assholes bent out shape over a cutaway. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Does your DZ try to guilt you if you have a cutaway?
stratostar replied to -SK-'s topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Only if your stupid enough to let that kind of thing lead you to bounce because your worried it would cost money or you'll get shit from the DZO & staff. The normal rules in the sport are this, if you rent it, borrow it, jump it and you break it, lose it, damage it in anyway, it's on you to repair or replace it. That said: we generally give a pass or two to students because your a student.... However, I would expect you to show up the next day to help look for the lost gear and the day after if that is what it took to find it..... If you were to blow off that helping to find, I would not be real friendly to you on your return and most likely would hand you a bill for the lost gear. I have spent a better part of two days crawling on hands and knees to find a lost cutway in a very large corn field, and hell we even had a damn good idea where it went. So put in some effort call the DZ and or head back out there and help look for the shit, you never know others might help you look too. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

How much time did you personally spend looking for the main? If not, why not? And did you make anymore jumps that day? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Yea, just try going to the USPA with documents, videos, and mountains of proof and see if you don't get thrown under the bus..... For years we have had BOD members who, not only knew much of the reported shit was going down and they willfully turned a blindeye and refused to take actions towards their "good old boys", it was more important to publish a bunch of fluffy feel good and do the right things stories in parashitty, but then play politics when it came time to bust some balls. Just take a look at some the current BOD who have been there for sometime, they have needed to go for some time now, yet morons keep voting them in. Thankfully in this run a few have stepped aside, while a few of the others remain. It's not like we don't have long serving BOD members who have been able to remember who they serve and I welcome them serving us again... but those are only few. Again if you want the industry to be self-regulation, then USPA needs to stop throwing those who step up, under the bus, but as long as we have those willing to look the other way serving on the BOD, things will continue as they have for years. If I were to ever drop a dime on any operators, the last fucking people in the world I would ever call or write too or inform of anything would be the USPA! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

"he" sure looks good in all those full page color adverts by his sponsors, being the big name he is now and all that....
