  1. Headline read to the story linked above: FAA postpones skydiving decision until Feb. 2013 Yep.... going out on a limb here and I'm going to state on the record what I think is about to happen. But before do that.... Let me go on the record for the "posting police" and state once again that: This PLA will be issued in February of 2013, yep next month! That is as long as the legal dept @ FAA signs off on the drafted addendum to AC 5300-13. That would clear the way for this to become factual and the new standards..... Why would I think such is pending? 1. I have a open part 13 case and I have regular contact with the FAA in regards to my case... ( I hold their feet to the fire) 2. Because of my pending case, I have become rather studied in the rules, law, and pending changes and how those changes could help or hurt my case. Now, why did I link the news story above? As I understand it, when you file a part 16 formal complaint the FAA is required under law to process the case in a timely manner, I recall reading 120 days. The whole Creswell fight is over the landing area, same as in a number of other pending cases that are all hold up on this PLA bullshit. Based on my research and communication about my case, I strongly believe that we will see that PLA draft come out of FAA legal in the next month, provided they don't mandate changes to what ever they are getting ready to send our way.... the drafted document that is currently under review. And let's not forget that the public comments were closed a long time ago. As long as no changes are needed, we will see that come out.... NEXT month.... also leading me to believe such is true, is the extension on the part 16 in Creswell Oregon linked above. Now if we see another story come out about another extending of the Creswell case, then it's safe to think they are still working it or they wouldn't be seeking to extend the time. They will not rule on that case or any case till this PLA crap is issued. Hope you all get UR seat belts on the ride is about to get bumpy! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  2. Thanks for the detail reply.... I think it seem a very reasonable cost for the long run at type of operation I was talking about. However some places are too cheap to spend a dime a editing gear and record rewinds in their "professional videos"..... as well as the space for the laptops.... the tight asses are not going to spend it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  3. What kind of cost are we looking to get this up an running at for a small 182 operation who might host 4 or 5 events a yr with a smaller turbine like a pac? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  5. We are in agreement, in fact if you take the time search my post on this topic of dzo's a shitty wanted ad's I have started threads just like this before. We all know, after you been around awhile who is above board and who is not, and in most cases people will not come right out and bash a DZ or DZO like what just happened to Nick K. I don't know what to tell you, other then as a longtime partaker wearing many hats.... most dzo's get it when it comes to the full time vs pt time. IF you are a team player you get the work... if I got keep calling up the pt's to cover for you, well guess who works and who sits. Anytime I see a shitty ad on here, where all they list is a contact number of email and no location of the state or dz name.... HUGE red flag! Some DZO's or the people they let write their ad's are stupid as all fuck! Their are some well known shady one who will fuck you over, no doubt. When you don't have to reply on that skydiving job to cover the mortgage and all that other shit and you earn a real pay check from a real job, it makes it a lot easier to play skydiving instructor and have fun doing it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  6. You are preaching to the choir, sir... I have moved across the country on my own dime and took those risks you talk about, a number of times, like many others have. Hell moved across the ocean for gods sake. Sometimes it was great, other times you got burned, this is not a an easy industry to do, the income is limited by outside factors beyond your control... how you plan for that is the difference between those of us who are still here after many yrs and those who are here & gone in 5. I understand your point, you would not want to move across the country at your expense with no known base $$$. It's reasonable and easy to understand why.... it's not the reality of the industry though. Like I said no one gives me a ferry fee to go to events, I take the risk like all the other traveling jumpers, if it rains we lose, no work, we lose.... I even at times have to pay to registration on top of the travel expense to get to the even I'm working. Flip side of that is, I know who I can trust to work for, they always pay me and treat me good, if it all goes to hell for some reason, most of them are kind and do offer some take home just for making a 800 mile trip, like gas money home. Believe me I get, been there done that got a lot of t-shirts too, but I'll be seeking staff if all the proper sign off's are approved, however the large investment in opening the doors will not allow me to pay anyone's moving expense or rent. I will provide for, rent free, for those who have RV's, hook ups, water & indoor facilities if your are staff. Some of the people who have expressed an interest are 3 or 4 hrs away and are willing make that commute for the w/end, they own 5th wheels and can leave on site. Then again I'm interested a whole different level of "staff" and the kind of people who see an opportunity to help build and grow along side. Ever notice that highly successful large volume dz's always have the same life long friends/partners running the show. That is because of the level of trust and that is what I'm talking about. Those are the players I'm seeking, there will always the noob rated guy looking for work and wanting to "live the dream"..... there is place for them too. We all have a level of risk to take. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  7. Coming from the prospective of someone who is in the process of building a start up operation by building a private airport.... how much do you think I'm about to drop in just building a turf strip, or just the fuel bill to run the bulldozer & grader? Then there is the lawyer expense, time dealing with the government, cost of airplane ownership, fuel bill for plane, insurance for bird, insurance for slip & fall, expense to acquire additional real estate, gear, marketing, phones, internet, license fees, the list is endless of the shit we bring to the table. And you want what? Only one taking risk on the deal, for real? The way I see it I'm the one taking ALL the risk here and have one hell of a bill to pay, you want in and to play ball, then take a little risk of your own and make the trip or not, there are more then enough people out there willing to invest in their own contract services provider companies.... that is what you are a contractor. No one pays me a ferry fee for going to work events and showing up with all my gear. No dzo is going to pay extra for your travel or relocation unless it's one of the real big boys and even then, I highly doubt it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  8. Not really, sometimes people have their head so far up their own ass, nothing but a good swift kick in the nuts will get through to them. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  10. I'm willing to bet he was talked to and he with all those mad skillz decided he knows better and blew it all off, clearly he has no clue! Not only would I ground his ass, if cut me off like that he might get an ass kicking in the landing area for trying to kill me or my students, or my friends. NO EXCUSES for that kind of stupid flying. Andy, you need to pull that head out that ass and get educated and fast..... I'll still take July 4th 2013 for 20 Alex. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  15. Personally I don't believe in going the cheap way... I believe in going the with the best tools for the job at hand and for the best cost I can get it. For me, in the past that has been videonics suite, then to a G4 with imovie... a hell of an up grade. Now we are in the card media world, the new digital age is here... So if I were going to shop for simple easy to use system, I might look to a mac again for my personal videos and movies, using again imovie & idvd etc. Can make your own royalty free music too. However for a production based set up, I would lean more towards a Vegas pro with production asst. and that is not going to be windows movie maker cheap! I have and use Vegas pro 11 and while it took sometime to learn the program it was not that hard and there is a lot of online help. All depends on what you want to do, what is expensive to one, might be cheap to another.... you got a grand or so tied up in quad chopper. Speaking of that, saw one at the verzion store yesterday for 300 with built in cam you fly on your smart phone, shit's getting crazy I tell ya... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. I believe windows movie maker is most likely free and already on your system if you are running windows. About as cheap as you will get and still works, sorta of. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  17. You forgot the part about, facial expressions in the landing area, shorts were changed and backs patted, many a beers were had with repeated telling of NSTIWTIWGTD..... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  19. If you have been working with a student from FJ to 38, any instructor who has been doing their job should be able to determine if the student has their head up the back side or not, in 38 jumps.... otherwise your a shitty instructor or not doing your job. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  20. Who wants to listen to you when they can look at her.... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  21. You mean like this: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/slanderous http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4426242#4426242 Oh sorry, I forgot.... it's someone is to blame. Hey anyone for some bingo... I-36.... I.... 36. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  22. I hope for the future you will "let it ride" a little longer and make sure you cover your own ass before you get on here and start talking smack about posters, dz's or gear vendors or MFG's. You also might try asking around discreetly other longtime posters or jumpers on your dz about a business, BEFORE you send money and more so after & if you have a problem.... everyone knows someone in the industry! People like you who enter this industry and expect it to function like your comfortable outside world and when it don't go just your way, do a lot of damage to a cottage industry, and then you go around and start slinging shit at everyone and causing harm and damage to peoples well earned reputations in the sport... You waste everyone's time and only spread false info. SO baddog bends over backwards to take care of your order and deal with all your f'd up ordering and bitching about shit in a professional manner and the best you can do is to leave a Google search friendly record of trashing the mans business and sorry ass apology tacked on to the end...... That all you got to offer to repair the damage to the mans business by your slanderous and defamatory posts? you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  23. Anyone who would recommend a Stiletto, no matter the wingloading, to someone with 38 jumps is either a fool or someone trying to sell a canopy. OK well I didn't want have to go here, but WTF... First, I don't think Roger Nelson was trying to sell him a canopy, because that would be who would be the one responsible in this case, if I'm not mistaken, John did his training @ skydive Chicago. Second, I do NOT think Roger Nelson was a fool. What I do know is, are the facts, and they speak loud and clear, Roger Nelson was way ahead of a lot of people in many way for many years in this sport. Many people then & and now say his was a fool for placing lightly loaded and detuned sabre's and Stiletto's into his student program was stupid and dangerous and all that shit... HE trained thousands of FJS's doing it that way with great success. I have followed that very same program, along other programs of Roger Nelson's with great results as well. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  24. First of all they are bird lovers, all kinds of birds! You my friend have logged jumps out all kinds of birds that give most pilots wet dreams of flying and they will never get the chance to fly in them let alone fly um.... So getting to top that by getting a free ride and to jump out and dazzle the wuffo's at the big show.... how can you not have them all ears and drooling vintage fabric dope and P&W radial oil... you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
