  1. How do you know the FAA was contacted? How do you know or not know if an FAA inspector was not standing on the airfield at the time this happened? Did you know that if an inspector is on a airport they are free to ramp check or inspect anything they want to on the airfield.... even a crash landing of a jumper. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  2. Glad that shit is on your head and not mine... I say go for it! Jump the shit out of it that way.. I mean it's not like there is tons of info about how to safely set up a camera helmet on here to get educated on the proper way to go about this, but seeing how you clearly spent no time at all researching this topic and learning from the many experts here on this topic.... Go for it bro and learn the hard way, you signed the waver, right? There are a lot fucked up DZ's that will be happy to allow you to jump that set up.... I would advise you to look left on deployment and until your canopy is open. And those cutways on helmets are way over rated and hardly get used anyway. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  3. That is how I understood it as well. Good thing that seal was missing on the rig or some rigger in CA would be in deep shit right now, based on that report. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  4. I know a number of experienced jumpers who became members of "titanium steel rods in his back" club, all of them have gone on to jump without a problem due to the rods not handling opening shock. Everyone one of them was told by their doctors they would never jump again. The only one I know who was not able to handle returning was the dude who hit Sean Crossman.... he had a rebuilt hip & pelvis with rods and shit. What Rob has to say about chair bound people is very much true. But I'm sure you already know that. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  5. I have jumped at one over there, but it is closed now. Festus Mo & Taylorville Ill. are both nice 182 dz's with nice people, haven't been there but know some of the peeps at both. Good luck with the new job. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  6. You may not like the reporting style but the fact of the matter is they told the cold hard truth about our industry and it's lack of oversight. USPA is a joke on publishing safety! USPA taking action to "clean up" the industry is a joke! Every little write up in parashitty about safety and "doing the right thing" is all a line of BULLSHIT! USPA is full of hypocrites and has a long history of turning a blind eye and sweeping shit under the rug to cover up for the good old boy network. FACT! USPA is fucking joke on upholding the GM pledge! And the only real good coming out of HQ is the office of Randy Ottinger and his work on airport access the rest of it is all window dressing and total bullshit being conducted by a handful of hypocrites. If you don't like the facts being pointed out in the media then maybe you should work harder to change that.... USPA seems to think their marketing dollars are well spent with all the fluffy stories.... but don't want own up to or print the information they get about rogue operators that is proven by the FAA and the NTSB to be true and factual! Nope USPA leadership from the top down would choose to lie and misinform the membership while protecting those rouge operators by not publishing the facts, but rather USPA would choose to spend membership dues to try to claim FAA inspectors are in cahoots with disgruntled skydivers to frame operators in the industry, despite a a huge mountain of proven facts. And USPA would make a formulated plan to attempt to throw an FAA inspector, who was a USPA member of 35 yrs and additional USPA members under the bus in a lame attempt to sweep shit under the rug. This is not the first time USPA has taken such actions towards USPA members and it will not be the last time. All it will take is one major skydiving disaster with a bunch of violations as the cause and with all the FOIA documents out there floating around proving how USPA has been doing this shit for years, can and will prove everything that was said in this story as to lack of oversight and those are in fact foxes guarding the hen house. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  11. It's an older video from a few yrs back, but now you can clearly see the morons at the helm in action.... yea they voted to spend 100K to hire a lawyer to tell the FAA to fuck off. Now the pending PLA shit is about to rock their world. At least there is a new mayor in town now and he is pro small business and skydiving. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  12. This video of the former mayor running his mouth is to classic to not have on this thread. Now you see the stupidity in action and this will help explain why access fights take so long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvYyQ5hQTS0 you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  14. You are correct about the missing data, but the Go pro records a different format then most, I forget what DSE told me... but for example, my new desktop with windows media player will not handle the video clips, all you get is audio. The solution was go download VLC.... I did problem solved. I now can play go pro footage in VLC for editing I use vegas also no problems. So if it was me, the first thing I would do is try to record on a class 10 card and then play it in VLC right off to see if that made the issue resolved or not. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  15. missed the part about the card, try a 10 first and VLC you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  16. Most likely.... try to download and use VLC. see if that fixes it. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  18. There comes a point in the skydive where you fall out of the blue umbrella and into the green bowl.... it's down around 4k to 3.5 k YMMV. You can tell by just using your eyes and watching this transition, it's subtle when it happens, most people never see it on a skydive, it's where while up high you are in blue umbrella, the blue sky surrounds you, the horizon is way out and below you and as you get lower and lower at some point you enter into the green bowl where the horizon is now even with you and not below you, the lower into the green bowl you go the high up the horizon is for you to look at it. Once you down in there things are moving fast and you should be doing things, there for it's easy to miss seeing the clues, they are there though. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

  21. Most riggers are not "dealers" for SSK. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  22. I've never had any problem calling and dealing with SSK. Their is no reason to call a dealer or use one, unless you want too. I've never had them send me anything that was not insured for the cost of the units, their not stupid business people. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  23. I did not answer you for a reason, your comments raise red flags for some one with a B and two yrs in the sport, according to your profile. Instead of Bill Von answering the questions for you, I was hoping you would have stepped up and answered the questions in your own words, yea more or less a test to see how you answer.... Why, see that red flag comment above, kind of hard to help someone if you don't know or understand their thinking patterns on a subject, you might have simply been using the wrong wording, but knew the proper actions, or not? Instead we have now lost that opportunity to better understand your mindset when you asked, the questions were answered to you. The fact of the matter is, all of this info should have been covered in great detail in your FJC and again in additional continued education as you progressed to your B license, on safety day as well, on your licensing review before the tests. When such basic life saving info seems to be lacking it makes one wonder how you got so far along in the sport, to then reply the following: Again sounds like that is the first time you've ever heard this, like some kind of "news flash"... again huge red flag! I hope you take advantage of this up and coming safety day to spend some time in the hanging harness and getting drilled on ep's and when you are done there go have a talk with an instructor or an S&TA. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  24. If your are really going to make it in this biz, first 500 videos a season is not that bad... now it would be best to have many hats to wear... for example I sport the following ratings/hats, Coach, Jumpmaster, SL-I, IAD-I, TDM-I, AFF-I, PRO, Sr. Rigger, LO, AC MX, fuel guy, manifest, dz manger, turd herder, trash man, grounds keeper, bar tender, phone answering, shuttle driver, packer, radio guy, cook, general flunky.... with well over 30+ yrs exp. One rating or video only is a dime a dozen and you can't compete with someone like me if all you got to bring to the table is one hat. I will get most your work or the others like me will get and you will get the table scraps. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
  25. How about you tell us when you would cut away from two out and we'll tell if you if got it right or not. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
