There is part of the problem right there! It's mostly been a good old boys club for yrs, made up mostly of former golden weenies and their buddies. When I went to apprentice for my R ticket, one of the dudes I studied under used to do that very method. In fact the first few rigs I ever cleaned were done that way "under supervision". When he was doing that blasting with soap/water in major high force pressure, I didn't it was such a great idea. Once I got my own T then I switched to the bath tub method, I think that is a very good way to do it over all ,but takes time to do. Got one of those carpet cleaners, might have to try that method for spots. Also a machine wash works well depending on the machine. I would have never done it that way myself... not because I was worried about the rig, but the machine getting beat the shit out of from hardware. But old rigger friend of mine has been doing that way for yrs. I tried it on my rig, work just fine and way shorter then tub method, I still like the tub way the best, you can work the stains out better IMHO. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I don't even explain when the Dr asks, if I'm a student or private pilot... I just say yes and move along, no explaining skydiving and a class 3. Yea but I down size rapidly and gots mad skillz.... and they came back, we sat there on the bench playing with the pencils and papers filling out the wavers and accident reports.... Seriously.... I have been rather vocal to Rich Winstock and other BOD about the mandating of FAA class 3's only and not allowing other "DOT APPROVED" for safety sensitive jobs as well as those who hold DOT FAA medicals. Seeing how the FAA lives in the US DOT house and is a branch of the DOT, DOT medicals should be equal. For parachutist in command duties the FAA does not require a medical, just like other "types & kinds" of classes of users, some even getting flight instruction without those pesky FAA medical requirements.... The biggest claim I heard FYI out of USPA as to why they want to keep the mandated FAA class 3 medical requirement is because of the DUI rules! Those are, you know helping to keep the skies free of the alcoholics. Funny thing is that very same USPA granted a waver to a life long alcoholic who has been busted DUI more then 12 times, closer to like 15 or more times, and has had their drivers license revoked for life, even getting another DUI in the time frame as getting this special waver to do TDM's because he can't pass the FAA medical or back ground check due to his extensive criminal history. The whole medical thing is total bullshit on so many levels. Oh and BTW.... anyone who holds a DOT medical has a commercial operators license for their area of operation and if you get popped for two DUI's you lose that operators license for life! That means you can't get a DOT medical with two DUI's, so the "it's for the DUI's" is a line of BS. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Yea a few yrs. back I watched a now felon start a dz and then under cut the market that was at 240.00 per TDM... by lowering the rates to 129.00 a TDM in an effort to cause the other locals and long time dz's out of biz. Now they are doing the groupOn shit too and the advertised price is 129.00. They claim they make up the $$$ in the volume they do... wouldn't have anything to do with the money he stole from the IRS to fund the "team" and start up the dz, and the country club membership. Totally fucking up a good market and trying to harm other dz's. Oh yea they are in your market too and doing the same tactics down there too.
