Third Class Medical in the News Again,...
stratostar replied to ChrisD's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
After watching you post in this an the other thread, you're on going rambling bullshit, it is quite clear you know little of the topic at hand and it would serve all of us who do grasp it and deal with the issue in our daily life's, if you could learn to shut the fuck up about topics you don't know shit about! You then go on to prove this point by stating: You have worn out any "Please bear with me as I try to learn", it's clear you are not in this thread to learn but rather to just stir the shit with bogus claims and so called facts backed with all of you're grand experience. Many of those full of shit post of yours in fact are worded like you think you got some big handle on the facts, when in fact you don't.... other wise you wouldn't cloud the topic at hand with stupid ass Canadian doctors report that has no direct baring on this topic. Do us all a favor and just shut the fuck up already and go away! Please. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Third Class Medical in the News Again,...
stratostar replied to ChrisD's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The joke of it has nothing to do with insurance co's underwriting dz's.... my dz policy don't say jack shit about TI's having medicals, however I'm still reading it over, so it might in there some where, but I doubt it. Where this is FORCED on us, is the USPA, via MFG's. The whole debate with in the community has lead to USPA BOD stating the policy of the USPA is in place to keep out those with DUI's.... Yet they freely wave those rules if you have the right connected people in place who feel sorry for you, about that life time career of being a drunk and losing your Ohio State Drivers License for LIFE... still good to go! Many of us have been trying to get the rule overturned and open to "equivalent" standards, if a medical is going to be demanded.... seeing how the FAA resides in the house of the USDOT and is a branch of the DOT>... one would think an approved USDOT medical card would suffice.... NOPE! They say it won't keep out the DUI's like the FAA medical will.... Only most times you have to have a valid license to get a DOT medical card. USPA also says, well we're taking people up in a commercial way, so we should be tested the same as commercial pilots... WTF even the FAA don't require a class 3 for LS CFI's.... Don't hold your breath those with in the USPA will be making a change anytime soon on this issue. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Here is the old one that is the only way to know what changed is to read it, helps to know the old one so U can spot with ease the changes... http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/advisory_circulars/index.cfm/go/document.information/documentID/1019204 I find it interesting that makes note of the AC 5300-13 airport design and layouts... in ref to parachute landing areas on airports>>>> We have been only been waiting now for 3.5 years for the PLA crap... remember that, PLA study? So that has not been finalized nor any notes on the revised 5300-13 regarding LZ's. Makes me wonder if in the next days or weeks if we will ever see that PLA crap released. (side note but related to these changes in AC 105E) Feds been holding up any part 13 informal complaints, starting back in 2010... and they started the PLA study. (see attached letter) they told all the regional offices nation wide to not rule on some cases. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

There goes jumping into fly in's without having papers now. Also could effect dz's on airports that decide to host an event, this could derail or even stop some businesses for events on airports they have nothing to do with, as it currently reads. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Longmont City Council will take up skydiving noise
stratostar replied to stratostar's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yes! Because this issue has move now outside of Longmont and it has now cost another dz their landing area, for now. In the industry over all the attitude of "don't affect me" is there in large volumes, pretty sad really. People need an outlet, they are joking to one another, I assume as a way to lighten the mood, sucks to watch our friends and fellow jumpers get harassed into court, forced to spend god knows how much to defend OUR rights to access the skies. Airport access issues come in many different forms of attack. These issues can do effect all of us, here in the USA. If you can't handle some jokes getting cracked, then you might not find the social life the sport has to offer up to your liking. If you can read past the jokes and noise, hopefully most can take away that there is a problem and they leave understanding that is NOT just a local issue!!! Everyone needs to do their part and be vocal on a national level.... or just keep sending in some chump change and hope a handful of people can keep you in the air in this country. Two on the east coast, and two in the CO front range, under attack in the same manner... Two of those legal businesses have been FORCED into lease denials by vocal minorities! Think about it, support the sport or shut up and don't bitch when dz are shut down or get hassled by Cities, counties or states, on top of the feds. Some of you really have no idea how lucky & good y'all got it. P.S. We may not agree with the mods on everything, but it is the deal we agree too. Please do as they ask so the thread is not locked or removed. There is no reason to attack them. For one we were asked nicely to chill out once already.... so chill out. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
That, or people have been reporting shit to the higher up's and nothing get's done and the acts continue. Sometimes it might even be major illegal shit done to airplanes or gear and has nothing to do with retribution and every thing to do with safety, like not having a beech 18 prop come apart in flight because some corner cutting dzo put JB weld on it and put in use, then sold the plane to some unknowing person. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

If that was my dz or I was manager of it, that video wouldn't have left the property for one. The video person would have been paid, they did the job. The dz would most likely eat that cost and the TI would be fired for the unprofessional conduct and not the shitty flying. I would pay the TI to avoid any future legal hassle from fired asshat. The video would kept on file in case he did try any stupid shit... kind of like that one TI who got shit canned and tried to claim they fired him cuz he was gay..... fucking morons like that is why we keep good records, video tapes and security cam footage, proper paper work... all on file. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I wouldn't jump one. Have hated those rigs from day one for a number of reason, mostly rigging and a few design issues I don't care for... there all personal though. Had one total on the through loop on the free bag could pick it and swing it around the loft by the bridal and it had the main in the tray, so it had weight, even let all the other riggers take a swing or two... and that was moons ago. once I saw the hand deploy reserve and now this other long ass delay I think I will no longer be placing my seal on ANY of them, not worth the risk and legal hassle for a 50 buck repack. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

http://www.morganhilltimes.com/news/community/skydiving-on-the-horizon/article_c1c9e4b0-15fd-56b2-8af7-71cc5c7d09b9.html?success=2 Skydiving on the horizon Posted: Thursday, November 21, 2013 2:45 pm Abiding by the Federal Aviation Administration’s final determination to allow skydiving at South County Airport, staff from the County Roads & Airports Department have finalized an operations permit that they will bring before the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors at the Nov. 26 meeting. The County and local businessman Jeff Bodin had been involved in a squabble over allowing skydiving in San Martin since 2009. After Bodin was denied by the County to land his skydivers on airport grounds, he filed a formal complaint with the FAA, which ruled in his favor. The County refused to comply, not wanting skydivers to land at its airport, and instead filed an appeal. In August, the FAA denied the County’s appeal, forcing its hand to work out an arrangement with Bodin. County airports had been suffering the consequences of federal sanctions that prevented them from receiving valuable federal grant funds through its Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The county is entitled to $150,000 annually through the AIP. Those funds were being withheld due to non-compliance with federal guidelines. First, Assistant Director Eric Peterson of County Airports presented a draft for the skydiving operations permit Wednesday to the San Martin Planning Advisory Committee, which can offer its own input before going to the Board of Supervisors. Peterson was also expected to discuss the proposed name change from South County Airport to San Martin Airport, as well as the County’s desire to apply for a FAA grant to finance a long overdue runway rehabilitation project. The renovations would be done in San Martin as well as the two other county-run airports, Palo Alto Airport and Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose. “It’s just kind of a relief to have the whole thing over with,” Peterson said. Back in August, the FAA shot down an appeal by the County to forbid skydiving at San Martin’s general aviation airport. The County stressed safety concerns with allowing thrill-seekers the ability to land on airport grounds due to its proximity to U.S. 101. However, the FAA – which previously did studies on the safety issue and said the findings don’t support the County’s take – concluded none of the County’s points were “persuasive arguments” to overturn its initial decision to allow skydiving. The FAA ruling was music to the ears of Garlic City Skydiving owner Jeff Bodin - who has been battling to get his business off the ground since 2009 when he filed his formal complaint. In its final determination, signed Aug. 12 by Associate Administrator for Airports Christa Fornarotto, the FAA upheld its original Dec. 19, 2011 ruling stating there is no reason why Garlic City Skydiving can’t use San Martin’s general aviation airport as its home base and landing spot for thrill-seeking customers. In the County’s original response to Bodin’s complaint, which led to the federal grant sanctions, the County stated “the proposal creates a hazard to air traffic and to persons and property on the surface that cannot be mitigated.” However, the County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Sept. 9 to not appeal the FAA’s final determination. At that time, District 1 Supervisor Mike Wasserman confirmed that the County has been directed to prepare a plan to allow skydiving to occur under certain conditions at the general aviation airport. “We have been working on a permit to authorize skydiving at South County Airport,” Peterson confirmed. He noted that Director Carl Honaker, Bodin and County attorneys helped draft the skydiving permit. “It’s been a long and arduous negotiation process,” Bodin admitted. “We’re still working through a lot of issues with the County right now. We’re not across the goal line. It will be a while before we are. It’s just a long process.” Peterson said, with the ability to access the funds that were being withheld, the County is seeking approval from the Board of Supervisors to submit their grant application in January. Peterson previously said the grant money is “valuable” to airport upgrade projects such as the proposed pavement repair work for the runways and airplane taxi areas that have been put on hold. “That’s a very big positive in getting this saga behind us,” Peterson said. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I disagree. This is the type of info that others need to know about. It helps connect the dots to other incidents and now help make clear how some other things might have taken place. Couple major red flags IMHO. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

http://www.timescall.com/news_region-news/ci_24565869/denial-independent-skydive-company-landing-zone-near-boulder This sets a bad standing should this stand as rule of law. This even thought on the county level, should make a number of DZO sit up and take notice, if you don't get concerned with this issue, then STFU when they come to shut your dz down! I believe it would be a good idea to write the county commissioners and voice concerns in a polite way. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Yea and it took the stupid crew two yrs to find it too. So you know all this has been fun & games talking shit about a handful of twits and front (de)ranged morons. But the issue is not going away. In fact Ms. Gibbs and her little band of marry twits have decide to ramp up operations of slinging shit around on everyone who operates a skydiving center in the Boulder area. http://www.timescall.com/longmont-local-news/ci_24558826/boulder-county-planning-panel-review-skydiving-application So there you have it people, the assault is on. It would be a good idea for the industry to fully support both of these DZ's in anyway possible, in fact it sure would good if one of those skydiving lawyers would step up and do some ass kicking on behalf of all skydivers. (not holding my breath there) Is there a legal fund we can donate to? No not the AAD fund, I mean a real legal fund that helps skydivers, besides this is not an airport access issue, it's a vocal windbag issue. Oh and by the way the "hit list squadron" is now recruiting additional pilots and aircraft for the ramping up of addtional over flights of the Gun barrel CO area... you will be required to fly with limited "hush kits" and no mufflers installed, also you have to use our special black paint & we turn off the transponders so we can get right down on the treetops for maximum sound effect. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
