class III medical question in relation to DUI
stratostar replied to Adamkrum's topic in Tandem Skydiving
Two types of "hold". The first being that in the data base at USPA under my name and license number, that license is held or on hold for me. It is never issued to anyone else, if I let membership expire, even for yrs. When I renew my membership I'm not issued a new license, because my license is held in place for me in the archives , it was issued to me and on the back of it is all my info that matches my DL and other ratings, like my pro card, making harder to hand the FAA or others someone else's shit, but I do know people who would do that and have done that. The second type of hold is, as in I'm holding on to it, my license, that was issued to me, so that I can present to the required people as proof of having or holding those licenses, regardless of my membership status. The fact the USPA don't consider my license or ratings valid unless I send them money, has nothing to do with the fact that I hold in the archives records of USPA that license of issue. If I stop skydiving and leave the sport I will hold on those license cards, for one you can't them any more and two, they were "issued to me and I hold them" for life, they will not reissued to anyone else. And those licenses and ratings are ONLY valid on USPA group member dropzones. And I don't need them in order to comply with the FAR's under US law. The fact of the matter is the FAA can not legally require me by law to join a third party non regulatory non binding trade group who has no legal powers to enforce federal aviation laws in an aviation activity, in order to comply with an FAR. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Yep and not only that I presented them as a member and after my membership expired for the yr. to FAA when dealing with the FSDO or inspectors in the field and I have presented my PRO card on ramp checks on demo's, without being a current member.... and you know what. They don't give a fuck if I'm a current USPA member or not when presenting those documents, as long as I'm following the FAR's and prove I meet the requirements in the FAR's they could care less if I belong to a trade group or not, they have never asked to see my USPA membership card to check for a date on it. Couple key words you two can't seem to grasp is "issued" and "acceptable to the Administrator." you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Maybe you didn't seem to understand, I have the answer, it's pretty clearly written in the FAR's. I have presented my documents a number of times to a number of FSDO's in my 30 + yrs all across this country, both as a active member of USPA and as a non active member. All of my instructional and my Pro ratings were considered valid and "issued" to me by the FAA. Even on a few ramp checks on at Demo's when I had not been a USPA member for years. The fact is the same applies to tandems. I don't have to be a USPA member. I don't have to hold a USPA tandem rating and I don't need any medical in order to be LEGAL to make a tandem skydive in the USA! What I do need is 3yrs in the sport, 500 jumps with a ram air, an "issued" masters license and able to prove I to took a MFG course or a course acceptable to the Administrator. (FAA) and be certified by the appropriate parachute manufacturer or tandem course provider as being properly trained on the use of the specific tandem parachute system to be used...... And that is all. My experience and years in the sport along with my strong mfg rating meets all of those requirements, end of story. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Nice try... then you could get charged with a felony for presenting false documents to the FAA and or lying to them, not real smart. However that said, sorry you can't seem to handle the facts are what they are and every thing I've said and posted is in fact legal and compliant with the FAR. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

I think what you fail to understand is that there is no expiration date on my USPA Master's license, nor is there on my USPA Jumpmaster's rating.... and if I produce those to the administration as proof of compliance with the FAR as having been "issued" as per the what the law reads in 105, they will, and they have and they continue to accept them. So it still stands under the US FAA FAR's it is 100% legal for a strong or vector or racer/other mfg rated person to have never taken the new USPA tdm rating, and not carry a current class 3 medical.... can go jump tandem skydives all day long at a non USPA dz and it is totally legal as far as the FAA is concerned. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

And based on that one key word I would say you are wrong on both counts, it says nothing about me being a current member of any trade org, and in fact it says issued. I have a masters license that was...... wait for it..... ISSUED by a org recognized by the FAA and for that matter I'm pretty sure it would pass with flying colors at my local FSDO as acceptable to the Administrator for complying with the reg as written. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Let me explain to you... that one I do have all my papers in order and I'm 100% legal to conduct operations in the USA. 2nd. The only problem I have with any of it is the bullshit game playing shit the USPA does in regards to the medical, where as the USPA HQ and BOD have been giving a pass to life long drunks who are such fuck ups the state they reside in revoked for life their rights to drive a car because of the repeated abuse of booze and all the 17 or so DUI's they got! USPA wants to preach all this crap to the rest of us about how we can't use a DOT medical card for an equivalent, when the FAA resides in the house of the DOT! So it is all cool for the military guys to get a pass with their medicals, and the life time drunk to get a pass, of a doctors note, yet hard working stiffs who can comply and can present legal equivalents are told no...... Because of the DUI reporting! BULLSHIT! Oh and by the way, can you find in the USPA sims or other place where there is a so called "masters license" now. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

They don't revoke my licenses when I don't renew my membership, I still have a master license I earned via the USPA when I was a member.... and that is good enough for the FAA, nothing in the FAA regs says I have to have a current membership in a trade org. It just says to been issued a license by a recognized organization. It goes on to state even more clear. If your going to quote the damn thing, then lets get it in context and quote the full reg! DO you see anywhere in there that it states I'm required to have a current USPA membership, or any other memberships in a trade org? NOPE! All I need is an issued masters license, USPA or equivalent FAI license the admin (FAA) will accept, and have passed a mfg's course and have proof of doing so or a course acceptable to the Administrator and I'm good to go, don't even need no stinking medical or USPA membership and it is all legal! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

http://www.timescall.com/longmont-local-news/ci_26003605/quiet-skies-lawsuit-against-skydiving-is-set-trial 'Quiet Skies' lawsuit against skydiving is set for trial Posted: 06/20/2014 08:36:33 PM MDT | Updated: a day ago A lawsuit claiming Mile Hi Skydiving is making too much noise in its flights has been set for trial April 13. The Longmont-based group Citizens for Quiet Skies filed the suit in October after two years of disputes with the company. Mile Hi has operated out of Longmont’s Vance Brand Municipal Airport since 1995 and has flown its most recognized plane, a purple and white De Havilland Twin Otter, since 1999; noise complaints against Mile Hi began to increase in 2009. Quiet Skies claims the noise affects thousands of Boulder County residents, particularly on weekends. Supporters of Mile Hi have disputed the amount of noise and its effects, while city officials have said there’s little they can do to change things without running afoul of the Federal Aviation Adiministration. The case is in Boulder County District Court. The trial has been scheduled for five days, to be heard by Judge Judith LaBuda. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Rich Winstock Swoop Incident Cover-Up
stratostar replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Gee I missed that little dandy..... Let's see there, Randy, no I'm not saying she blew Glen to get her current seat, nor was that implied as to how she got her first seat. She got it the same way you earn it, by having connections to the right people and getting appointed to fill a chair. As one of favorite outlaw DZO's would say... from being a suck ass. Nope when I was talking about the "cock suckers", I was talking about people like Glen, who send out guy's like Tom Welgos to look into things of their other buddies, mostly known each other from the service.... I guess circle jerk would have been a better choice of words then cock suckers. But then again. were you not sent a personal invite to the circle jerk? Looks that way to me, you seem to fit right in at the good old boys club, looks like you might even be trying to earn one of those fancy sport jackets with logo on it. And indeed (Randy A.) there have been some pretty good cover ups in the past and one pretty good attempted but failed one, but I'm sure the buried report can be found in those deep dark files in HQ for the "select readers" to see. You are on the board I'm sure you could pull rank and go digging around in those files and find a copy of the "Midwest investigation" and you'll learn why the USPA, after spending a shit load of membership monies to send around one their hand picked good old boy's to do a lookie loo, decided not to publish or run with all that.... you might also learn about an in person visit to the USPA HQ by the very FAA investigator who was named in that report and what she had to say to Mr. Scott up at HQ. Kind of funny how some people are hand picked for tasks and end up on the circle jerk team, yet still don't have a clue or at least want to maintain the party line in public. The FAA subpoenaed obtained records that were available to the public, via the Freedom of Information Act, don't lie. Like I said, way worse USPA leaders in the way back past (70's 80's 90's) and present (2000's and on) then Rich Winstocks fuck up and so called "cover up"! you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -
Rich Winstock Swoop Incident Cover-Up
stratostar replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hate to tell you this newsflash.... but yes there are BOD members who are DZO's, who would do that, just like there are BOD members who step up to help their "friends" that go around doing shit like that. Then you have the USPA HQ buddy network, where if you suck the right cock you get all kinds of little pretty feel good bits in the mag, right before an election.... Then there is the long history of USPA covering up shit! This little Rich Winstock thing is nothing, a flee fart at best. Many of you wouldn't know a cover up if it bitch slapped you in the face. Many of the membership are blind fools, most who fail to vote, and those that do, do so on a popularity contest. Because if you did know WTF is really going on then people like Ms. Bucther wouldn't be holding the seats she has held.... Being one of "Glen's Girl's" will not only open doors for you but put's you in the "good old boy's club". You all need to wake the fuck up and clean house and that need to be done a LONG time ago and Rich is pretty far down the list, yea he fucked up big time, but he wasn't doing shit that brings down whole airplanes of people, like some others. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo -

Like it or not, sounds like a clear violation of a number of FAR's. And I bet he did not have a COA to conduct that jump from the FSDO. I wonder if the FAA bothered to check the gear to see if it was a base rig, that would be another violation. It's stupid assholes doing this kind of shit that fucks pooch for all the others who are trying to do shit above board and follow and comply with the FAR's, you know those of us who are card carrying members of USPA with a PRO rating. SO yea if this was just some bullshit out of line FAA guy I would agree with you on "We're the FAA, we're not happy till you're not happy." I think "Hi I'm Mr. Bandit jumping asshole who just day blazed an aviation event in front of FAA and got a pilot violated and fined because I'm too cool to follow some simple rules and do legal". would be more appropriate. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

A lot of people still use that kind of weight, personally I think sewing the weight into the full front is the best way to go, but would mean doing work or building a flag for demos, most people won't bother with all that and just do what you see in the pic. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

yep all three SL students, who I had just trained, and they paid close attention to the two part of the class, cuz they were freaked out about it... then all three had two out. The reason was you can't take a reserve handle/cable that is to short and install it and then cram 3 big ass football linebacker built guys into the rig and expect it to work as designed. IF you do when they bend over or reach for the wing, it pulls the pin. Same thing on the 4th guy, only the reserve cable was the correct one, he was just huge, same story, when climbing out all that movement pull the main lift webbing and that pulled the pin. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

I've seen four people yanked off the step of a 182 by their reserves, 3 on S/L's and one exp guy who hit the tail and then rode the majorly damaged reserve in. IN all cases with these guys they were too big for the gear and flexing the rig pulled the reserve. In the case of the students, we had been telling the DZO the cables were too short, he did not listen until after the 3 sl's, all on the same load BTW> Not saying that is the case here, but too many people don't think it can happen. you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo
