  1. Though it would be interesting to see what dz's have been in continious operation the longest. Lincoln Sport Parachute Club - Est. 1959 Nebraska Skydive Radio
  2. I jump a trv-30. Think it is about the same camera. Skydive Radio
  3. I can't see a way to change it. Oh well. Most should understand anyway. Skydive Radio
  4. Oops...good point. Can I edit them now? Skydive Radio
  5. How many jumps do you have? Skydive Radio
  6. The helmet is at the dz so i can't take a pic right not. I will try to remember to get one this weekend and post it. Skydive Radio
  7. As everyone else already mentioned...buy Sony. One thing I would add is to do your shopping locally to decide what you want, but buy online as you will save quite a bit over Circut City or Best Buy. Check out dbuys.com. Skydive Radio
  8. Where is this happening? Skydive Radio
  9. I use the "Don't jump unless the temp is higher than your age" rule. I was brave at 18...not so much anymore. I can wait a few months to jump. Last year I was flying a load and one of the jumpers asked me what the wind chill was. I called approach and asked him to work a windchill for 12 degrees F at 120 mph. He came back a minute later to tell me that it was off his chart but he would estimate it at around 70 below zero. I've not had another jumper ask me that question since. Go figure. Skydive Radio
  10. Paper reinforcer works well for me. I don't have any problems with framing and it keeps the helmet a bit cleaner. I have a laser pointer mounted on my d-box that is in line with the center of the frame. Before exit I can turn it on and look across the airplane to make sure my sight is still lined up. 11. I used a piece of wire. It goes under the liner of my helmet, wraps around my head and sticks out the left side of the helmet at eye level. I wraped some tape around the end and dipped it in epoxy so it would not have a sharp end, then zip tied the cam eye indicator to it. It has worked well for me. Skydive Radio
  12. Ed, Sorry, but I am really pretty computer illiterate. What is the difference between a Real Time capture card and a normal 1394 card that I can pick up for $20 at DIT? Skydive Radio
  13. Ed, I use my roomates computer right now but it is old (I think P2 333). I bought a 1394 card for it but had issues with droped frames due to the fact that the hard drive was too slow. I have been using it to learn Premier by making mpegs of video on the camera memory stick and bringing them into the computer via USB. Quality sucks, but it has given me a chance to learn a bit about Premier. I am considering upgrading my wifes computer to make it suitable for editing. What motherboard and chipset should I get in order to avoid the conflicts you mentioned in your above post? Any advise you could give would be greatly appreciated. Skydive Radio
  14. Mountainman, Thanks for the nice post. Fyi, LSPC (Lincoln Sport Parachute Club) has been in continious operation since 1959 making it one of the oldest skydiving operations anywhere. Skydive Radio
  15. The fact is that we are a not for profit club. Our primary interest is in promoting growth in the sport in our area and sustaining our club. We are indeed a Cessna dropzone with 2 182's. We take our tandems to 10'000 agl for $175.00. A club member can make a jump from 10'000 for $13. So yes, $22 is the profit left over for the video person minus the cost of a VHS tape. As for editing, we always mix music to the video at the least. I have recently bought a titler and use it as well for the videos I shoot. I feel that all our video people put out a finished product every bit as good as any other dz I have been to short of those who use computer editing and send the tape off a week later. I agree that $22 is not a lot of money, but none of us are making our living at the dz. We all have normal jobs during the week and an extra $22 in our pocket is beer and burger money, or maybe a couple freefly jumps later on, not a way to sustain a living. Make sense? Skydive Radio
  16. Premier 6.0.1. Will be upgrading to 6.5 soon. Skydive Radio
  17. Our home dz is not involved in the video consession for tandem. It is all private contractors. They charge $35 for video only, and $50 for video and stills. The lift ticket and all expenses such as tape and film are covered by the camera person, so there profit is between $22 and $35 depending on weather or not they have still capability. Skydive Radio
  18. One wonderful word....Autopilot! Skydive Radio
  19. JD has some great points. One thing I would add is that it is very easy to get really involved with "getting the shot". You are thinking about many things at once. Is this framed the way I want it? Where is the light? How can I position myself to get the best angle? Etc. Etc. I have found myself low on more than 1 camera jump because of one or a combination of the above items. An audible helps, but can be forgotten on the ground or not turned on. IMHO, the best saftey net is a solid foundation of skydiving experience that could take many more then 200, 300 or even 500 jumps depending on the person. In short, be 100% comfortable with your skydiving skills before adding outside pressures like "getting the shot". Skydive Radio
  20. First few were around 500 jumps. Started jumping camera a lot at around 1500 jumps. Now I rarely jump without it. Skydive Radio
  21. Well that sorta sucks doesnt it? It would be nice to get 3 or 4 per second to assure a good exit shot. Skydive Radio
