  1. Is that just for the lanc port or is there anything else wrong with it? Skydive Radio
  2. I have about 4 different camera people I work with when I do tandems. They all have different techniques for the exit, but the one I like the best is when I am doing a dive out exit and the camera flyer is in the "all the way out" position looking back at us. From there he can leave his left foot on the corner of the step, his right hand on the strut, and then as I start the count he lays his left hand on the left shoulder of my passenger. By doing this he can feel when we start pushing off and this gives him the ability to leave almost right with us. There are times that I may give a good count that the camera person can both see and hear, but then on "go" the passenger may be pushing back against me. When this happens it slows the exit down and if the camera flyer has left, they are already way behind the curve. By laying a hand on the passengers shoulder he can feel when we are "past the point of no return" and exit right with us every time. I would be a bit leary of a less experienced camera flyer doing this because I would be worried about them getting too close to me before I've had a chance to set the drouge. But as long as you make sure to always leave a split second ahead it should work well. Read the last post again. There is no excuse for slaming into or funneling a tandem at any time. There is very little we can do to avoid a collision other than to trust the camera flyer we are with, so please don't try to fly outside of your ability. Skydive Radio
  3. One of the jumpers at our dz had the same problem with the lanc port on his pc-110. He had to send the camera in to get it fixed. His was still covered under the warranty so I do not know how much it would cost to get it fixed. Skydive Radio
  4. If you capture a pic when your camera is in memory mode the resolution will be much higher. Unfortunately, if you are doing framegrabs after the fact you can not get that high resolution anymore because there is only so much resolution on the tape to start with. Does this make sense? Basically, the camera does not shoot in near as high a resolution when you are in video mode as it does when you take a still in memory mode. Hope this helps. Skydive Radio
  5. I just got off the phone with Skydance. I was told that the camera takes pictures at a speed of about 1 per second. It does not have a continous mode so you have to depress and release the button between each photo(you can't just hold it down). If it can take a shot per second then you could maybe get 2 good close up exit shots. Not too bad for a price of $160.00. I was also told that the 35mm model will not be available much longer. I asked about the APS quality and was told that the negitive is only 20% smaller than 35mm and as long as you are not blowing up your photos past 8 X 10 that you will not notice any difference in quality. There is no doubt in my mind that you will get better photos and have more flexibility with a nice SLR camera But after considering the huge savings in cost and the fact that this camera only weighs 5oz and has a very low profile, it might be a good option. 6. I wonder how fast it takes pictures. 1 per second? 1 per 2 seconds? The better slr cameras can take several frames per second which is nice for exit shots. But...that price is hard to beat. Skydive Radio
  7. Agreed. But for under $150 it might be a nice way to start out with stills. Plus, it is probably considerably lighter as well. Skydive Radio
  8. What's wrong with aps film? I kinda like it myself. You get a nice thumbnail page of all your prints and the negitives stay inside the canister where they can't get dammaged in case you want them again in the future. It is still 35mm film isn't it? Skydive Radio
  9. It's not a real piece of skydiving equipment until it has a scratch, gouge, tear, patch, hole, crack or bandaid on it. Just my opinion. Skydive Radio
  10. Looks pretty nice! Here is mine. It is a Bonehead Optik with a Sony TRV-30 in a D-box. It is video only. I use a little paper ring on my goggles in place of a ringsight. I also have a laser sight but mine stays on the D-box all the time. It is in line with the center of the lense so there are no parallax issues with it. Just before exit I use it to align the paper ringsight on my goggles and I never have any trouble keeping things in frame and centered. I put the cameye2 light inside the goggles just prior to exit. My wife and I share this helmet so a fixed ringsight will not work for us as her head is considerably smaller and her eyes would not be in the same place as mine. Skydive Radio
  11. Do you ever use your cameras for anything else besides skydiving? I always take my camera off the helmet after the weekend and store it in a regular camera bag for easy access. It only takes me a minute to assemble/disassemble it from the helmet. As for the helmet itself...why do you need a bag or case for it? Its a helmet. It's not like its going to get broken and if it gets scratched up a bit, who cares, it will still work fine. Seems like a waste of money to spend on a case for that stuff to me. Just my opinion. 12. Pretty decent weekend. 9 tandems, 3 freefly jumps and about 2 hours of flying. Skydive Radio

    DZ Politics

I think that in some cases it is easier for a larger dz to be less political because there is usually one dzo in charge and he can use "the buck stops here" attitude. I jump at a club and it has been my experience that this makes every decision much more difficult. Everyone involved has the best solution for every situation and guess what...every solution is different. It's not that people are trying to undermind each other, its just that different people think differently. Sometimes the best thing you can do is decide ahead of time if the issue at hand is really "that" important to you. If it is, speak up. If on the other hand it really doesn't matter and the next guys idea will work, then let it go. In the end we all come to the dz for the same reasons, to spend time with friends and make some skydives. Why is that so hard to remember sometimes? Skydive Radio
  14. Whatever it is it gets 2 thumbs up in my book for the rear view mirror. I wonder if he ever sees flashing lights in it? Skydive Radio
  15. If it has a lanc port it should work with the cameye2. Skydive Radio
  16. You gonna put both feet on your helmet? You must have really little feet or a really big head :) Skydive Radio
  17. Yeah, I have a friend that bought a pc-110 at dbuys and got a great deal on it. I think he paid about $600 under what it was going for at best buy and circut city. Don't know anything about the pc-101 though. Skydive Radio
  18. Jimbo, How do you do that. I tried but did not get the hyperlink. Skydive Radio
  19. Yes I knew she was working on a fundraiser. We are trying to do something here in Ne to coinside with it. Skydive Radio
  20. I'm pretty new to Freefly but I really like my Freedom Means Choice Suit. The customer service I got was second to none and the quality of the suit is better then any other suit I have owned. Skydive Radio
  21. Just a thought. An airplane can get into nasty turbulence near the ground and loose altitude rapidly (i.e. downdraft, windsheer) and hit the ground hard. I guess what I'm saying is: no mater how rigid your wing or how good the pressureization of your canopy, turbulence can still get you. Skydive Radio
  22. This topic has come up before in this forum with many people dishing out a lot of misinformation. You are right in your original thought that a canopy is not affected by the wind unless turbulent conditions exist. It does not know the difference. Only ground speed changes. For a good laugh, read through this thread. It still amazes me that so many people have such a hard time grasping a concept that should have been taught to them in their first jump course. http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=118233;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Skydive Radio
  23. How much does that card cost? Skydive Radio
  24. Mandy, Is Lisa not running their website anymore? Just wondering. Her and CB are old friends of mine from Nebraska. Hope all is going well with them. Skydive Radio
