What model vor did you use? How did you wire it up? How did the vor even play into the experiment, I mean I thought this was about a watch? Which three microwave towers were you using - since I don't expect them to have names, how about GPS coordinates? As a little old lady who can't see to good, how did you even know there was a microwave transceiver even on the towers? Please, enlighten us. You know, I did my own experiment. Georger - I have been trying for yrs to understand this. NO one has shared any information with me. I have stressed the importance of the Gyro and the quartz watch for yrs...but never understood it could possibly have any meaning until I found out 3 wks ago that 3 dams controled the grids thur a microwave signal. ONly then did this start to make some kind of sense...but I still do NOT know what, just that it was important and Duane had told me about the microwave controls at the dams. NOTE: He had pointed out every tower in the area - fire and warning and others - so why would I think this was any different? NOT until 3 wks ago. I still do NOT understand what it means other than the skyjacker or someone on the ground had a way of communicating and/or knowning their location. well then you have surpassed (once again) all expectations. Duane was at buDop in '69 ... and now Duane has watches which 'ping-start-stop' as 305 circuits any VOR along V23. There are a lot of radio experts on this forum and not one of them finds this credible, especially in 1971. 377 Its difficult to believe Jo came up with this on her own - that she would use it is no surprise. I think inevitably the FAA and FBI and others would have had to run an independent check with NWA officials to get their version of the full slate of communications that occurred, and the substance of those communications from NWA's (pilots etc) point of view, as it pertained to the flight path, communications in and around the time of Cooper's departure, Cooper's statements and orders, etc ? From the FBI's point of view this is all 'evidence' ... If this did not happen, then I am somewhat surprised. From the time NWA 305 took off for Reno, the controller communications were only through the Seattle and Oakland Air Traffic Control centers with a secondary channel of communication through the ARINC radio network. The ARINC radio network did NOT "control" the aircraft in the usual meaning of the word. The ARINC radio traffic was patched by phone to the NWA performance personnel in Minneapolis. That was probably where some of the ARINC radio messages were put on the NWA teletypewriter network and transmitted to other NWA stations. There is also the possibility that the ARINC receiving stations in the northwest part of the country also passed the radio communications along on their teletypewriter network. While the ARINC information would probably be gathered by the FBI as a routine matter, this information is not very likely to have any significant information that would be precise enough to determine the actual flight path of the airliner. But the Air Traffic Control people have recordings of EVERYTHING that passed between the airliner and controllers as well as the phone talk between controllers as they handed the airliner off from one controller to another. In handing the airliner off from one controller to another, the time (to the second) is embedded in the recordings, both of the controllers have to identify the airliner on their radar scopes, and give its location as a part of the transfer protocol. When both controllers are satisfied that they are looking at the same aircraft, they give their initials to each other, and the hand off controller will tell the aircraft to contact the receiving controller on a certain frequency. The aircraft will immediately switch to the new frequency and tell the receiving controller his identification and his altitude. The receiving controller will probably ask the aircraft to activate the "ident" function on its transponder. If everything checks out, the transfer is complete with most of the work being done by the two controllers over telephone lines. It is strictly the FAA Air Traffic Control radio and phone transcripts that are needed for a determination of the flight path. And all of this information is routinely recorded for every aircraft in the Air Traffic Control system. It's late here, but I will try to answer your post. I paid not a cent for the rights to any of the things Lyle Christiansen provided, or for his story. We have exclusivity on that. I insisted on this arrangement from the beginning, because I thought it lended SOME credibility if the Christiansen family stood not to make a penny on their brother. It was absolutely essential to me and Lyle signed the papers without hesitation. He only wants to know the truth. Two years ago at the Ariel celebration, I met Kenny's nephew Bruce Christiansen, who had flown out for the event and was pretty low-profile. Most people never even noticed him. We spoke outside for a while. He told me the whole family is embarrassed by the entire thing, no one wants a cent over it, and the truth was the only thing that mattered to them. They just want to KNOW. Seemed reasonable to me. I had no hard and fast truth to offer Bruce. I told him everything I knew, including Bernie Geestman's lies and pointed him to where Bernie says on Decoded that Kenny could be Cooper. I told him this was a funny thing to say when mulitple witnesses whom I consider reliable have placed him with Kenny the entire week of the hijacking. There is no way for me to prove that Kenny Christiansen was Cooper. If the Seattle FBI ever bothers to bring in the principles and question them in separate rooms, then they will get to the truth on Kenny quickly I think. Other than that, I don't see a chance of ever discovering whether Kenny was Cooper. To answer your other question, yes Kenny was gay. It's in the Geoff Gray New York Magazine article. His family realized this from about the time he was sixteen years old. They also worried when he volunteered for the Army and the paratroopers. Back then, if you were outed, it meant at the least a dishonorable discharge, possibly time in Leavenworth. You weren't going to get a job after the war either since a DD in WW2 meant employers would reject you outright back then. But I have to hand it to Kenny. Not only did he get through that, but he got a job postwar with NWA and served for nearly five years on Schmoo before heading down to Bikini Island to do telephone operator work. The average stay on Shemya was eighteen months. His family believes his early death from cancer might be as a result of exposure to radiation from the A-bomb tests. Later, he comes back to Seattle and trains to be a purser for NWA. But a dozen years later, he's making five hundred before taxes and still living in an apartment in Sumner, WA. Who knows? I sure don't. Two things are certain, though. Bernie Geestman is a liar, and Kenny had motivation. His letters home show that. But he has still not been proven to be Cooper.
