  2. In my term of employment at Stanford University, Univ. of Ala, ORNL, PNNL, INEEL, and now LANL, I have worked with a lot of scientist in my life (career). When I try to determine whether a person is a “scientist” or not, I prefer to look at what they have done to advance the “body of science,” as opposed to looking at what academic hoops they jumped through while Mommy and Daddy were financing their education. The best way to determine one’s contribution to science is their “Curriculum Vitae” (CV), literally their "course of life." Attached is Tom Kaye’s CV. As far as I am concerned, he is as much (or more) of a scientist, than some jerk with a PhD. working for a drug company, a weapons lab, or on grants from the tobacco companies. Just my opinion… yours may vary. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  3. snowmman, I know who’s on the team. The production company (Edge West) knows who’s on the team. Larry Carr knows who’s on the team. georger knows who’s on the team. All have been asked not to disclose who’s on the team. The ones who know are the kind of people who can and will honor a commitment (even if they don’t understand why). I will tell you this… they are no microprocessor architects with a grudge against the FBI on the team. Sluggo_Monster Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  4. All, The TV Listings showing the up-coming National Geographic is out this morning. The Skyjacker That Got Away First Prime Time Airing Sun Jul 26th at 10:00 PM EDT Repeat Airing Sun Jul 26th at 11:00 PM EDT Repeat Airing Sun Aug 2nd at 1:00 PM EDT From National Geographic: Overview: On the eve of Thanksgiving, 1971 a man, dressed in a business suit, leaps out of the back of a commercial jet with a parachute and two hundred thousand dollars in ransom money. The hijacker, under the pseudonym Dan Cooper, is never seen again dead or alive, and it remains the only unsolved hijacking in U.S. history. The case has frustrated the FBI for nearly forty years but has given the public a lasting legend. Who was this daring hijacker and could he have survived? Now for the first time in FBI history a team of citizen sleuths, using modern forensic science, is helping unravel the mystery of D.B. Cooper. ComCast Listing New, HD, Probing the FBI's only unsolved hijacking case, which occurred on a 1971 flight from Portland, Ore., to Seattle, when a man calling himself Dan Cooper demanded $200,000 and four parachutes. He later parachuted out of the plane somewhere over Nevada (2009) (Documentary) Nevada? If anyone has a DVR that can output a DVD, I would appreciate a copy to pick apart. PM me for details. 7. In the Deep South (note the upper-case letters) we have an expression for when someone makes a hasty and improperly researched statement which makes him/her look foolish and then has to retract/correct the statement to save face. It’s called; “Licking your calf over.” This morning I said: Well now I’m gonna “lick my calf over.” It seems that Billy Waugh has lots of “homes,” some of which he probably actually lives in. Let me explain how I found this out: I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned my room-mate “Bulldog Drummond.” Well, he isn’t exactly my room-mate, but I have him chained to a pipe down in the basement. I need him when I’m “on the road” to do simple investigations for me. You know... simple things, like tracking down lost disk-drives, finding Plutonium that got left in the wrong place, things like that. Anyway, when I went down to feed him, he told me I f#$ked-up with my comment to Cousin Bruce. Here’s what he told me: It appears that Billy has purchased several properties between 1999 and 2000: + NICEVILLE, FL 32578-4800 + LUTZ, FL 33558-5018 + LAS VEGAS, NV 89122-3362 (2) + Owns or owned some Mobile Homes in Las Vegas (? many) Bulldog also told me that Billy drives a 2008 Cadillac with a Purple Heart (Military Honor) license plate (FL) #66356 and his current wife drives a 2008 Mazda with the license plate (FL) SGMBABY. Get it? “Sergeant Major Baby.” So technically, Cousin Bruce and I were both right. But I think Brucie was more right, I think the Lutz, FL residence is where Billy ”hangs his hat.” Now, don’t you guys be asking me to get Bulldog to find shit for you. I keep him pretty busy, and I don’t have a “pet carrier” big enough to put him on an airplane. Sluggo_Monster (still in a good mood)
  8. Cousin Bruce said: Oh… Cousin Bruce… Cut me some slack. I’m a little more careful than that (and obviously you). Example: If you needed to confirm my employment with EG&G/URS/Lear Siegler you would contact my boss in Idaho Falls, ID and he would refer you to Morgantown, WV where the personnel records are administered. If you wanted to visit me, you would have to come to Los Alamos, NM. If you needed to raid my home to remove all my handguns and rifles, you would have to come to Ashford, AL. My point… Billy is/was a contractor who is publishing a book. Lutz, FL might be his publisher’s location, his distributer’s location, or a super-secret mail drop. But, the place he calls home is 30.2 miles from Jo’s house. It is in a gated community and I hear it’s a NICE place to live. Sluggo BTW: I slept well and feel much better today… now I have to go help make better WMD so CNN will have something to talk about (now that Jacko is dead). They won’t keep talking about him, now that he’s buried… will they?
  9. Hey guys… I found out something that is really important! I found a conspiracy! Did you know that Jo Weber and Billy Waugh live just 30.2 statute miles apart (by car). How’s that for a conspiracy… if you don’t get what I mean… I’ll ‘splain it to you. You see… Jo’s house is here and Billy’s house is there, just 30 miles away, and you know… that means… well, that means… WELL, I DON”T KNOW WHAT THE HELL THAT MEANS! But it must be some kind of conspiracy… right…. Cousin Bruce, help me out here!
  10. I have e-mailed Waugh to make sure the spelling was correct in his initial e-mail to me. No response yet (and I may not get one). Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  11. I sent SGM Billy Waugh an e-mail telling him that he was the current subject of this thread: Sluggo_Monster said: His response was: Anybody want to research Ted Bradon? Also, he doesn't keep abreast of the Cooper case, but he knew it took place in November of 1971??? Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  12. rdufooker said: I assume you used the personal pronoun “we” because you are such a frequent poster here on this thread. I did a search and found that, including the post above, you have made one post to this thread. So why is it that what we are discussing, things that we think are relevant to the solution of NORJAK, disturbs you enough to make you want to post about it? I’m just wondering. PS: I used to fly out of W17 (Knightdale - Raleigh East) a few years ago (’91 thru ’93). Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum

  14. quade, I fully understand that you cannot “prove” a negative hypotheses. That’s what prompted my response, I was pointing out that you have assumed and incorporated into your logic something that you cannot prove. About a year ago I told a story about the stuff that one could drag on a plane back in 1971 without even raising an eyebrow. Back then, if it fit in the overhead or under the seat in front of you, it was “good to go”. No one seemed to give a FF what it was. All I’m saying is that a confederate could have brought a chute on an earlier leg of the flight. (Remember William Cooper?) I can’t prove that, but I can’t eliminate it either. 16. A DZ.com “Lurker” pointed out that my recent post Re: The Nat–Geo Special on NORJACK Citizen Sleuths had a typo in it that may have puzzled some. The TENTATIVE first air date of the program is Sunday July 26th at 10:00 pm EDT. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  17. Safe, 377, and all, I don’t want to presume that I can speak for Tom Kaye, but I do have some comments in response to Mr. Cracking's and 377's question (and BTW: welcome back Safe). First, Tom is an eclectic dude with more interest than just about anyone I know. He has responsibilities to a group of Astronomers, a group of Paleontologist, the Burke Museum (in Seattle), family and friends (and, oh yeah, he has some hobbies too!). Just because you don’t hear from him, doesn’t mean he has lost interest. He has an active project that will keep him occupied during June, July and August. I expect we’ll hear from him more often after that. And number two, the Sci-Team are a bunch of scientist, they think like scientist, work like scientist, and produce results like scientist. They tend to know more and more about less and less. They will take as much time as is needed to investigate everything discovered. So, don’t expect to see results until they have investigated “in-depth” some very minute aspects of the case, and had (at least some informal) peer review. I guess what I’m saying is: “They aren’t working to a schedule, but thoroughly investigating where the evidence leads. So, there is no answer to the question “when?” The Nat-Geo piece is tentatively scheduled for 07/06/2009 at 10:00 EDT (very much subject to change), so maybe Tom (and Ckret) will have something to say then. 18. Ditto, here. snowmman is a lot nicer outside the presence of Jo and georger. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  19. 377 and all, I’m at work right now, and getting ready to fly home, so I don’t have a lot of time for a long explanation. Disregard my next to last post! The one about N467US not having a “Cabin Pressure Delta Gauge.” I found out that N467US DID have a “Cabin Pressure-Altitude Rate of Change (Delta) Gauge.” Sorry for the misleading info. I should have done better research. Thanks, Sluggo_Monster Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  20. Tom Kaye, If you are monotoring this thread (lurking), pay attention to this gauge thing. It could be important. Thanks 377, for opening my eyes. I did the assume thing and it made as ASS out of ME. Sluggo_Monster Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  21. Boy! it sure is quite in here! 377, I have an answer for you. The 727-51 in 1971 most assuredly DID NOT have a cabin pressure-altitude rate of change guage. AND..... now I'm wondering what they were seeing fluctuate. With the aft door (pressure barrier) open and the aft stairs open, the system would have been placed in "standby" by the pilots or it would have gone into standby automatically when they reached 10,000 feet. The cabin pressure-altitude gauge only goes to 9,500 feet before it pegs. The only other gauge on that panel is the FE's altimeter. Hmmmm, looks like a mystery to solve while Jerry Springer is on vacation. Do you have Benson's system descriptions? If not, I'll send them. Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  22. 377, I was going to reply with a flat “Yes,” but I started to read some system descriptions and felt that I need to check some photos I have of a 727-51 FE’s panel. Well, I can’t find them (in a hurry). [Note: As georger pointed out, my web-site is poorly organized, but you should see my personal NORJAK files. They are like a junk-yard for documents. I just wander around the grounds until I find what I’m looking for.] I’m packing for a home trip right now, so maybe when I get home I can look some more. I’m fairly sure the answer is yes, but I won’t swear to it. The electronic system that is used on the newer (and refurbished) 727s has few or no gauges. The old pneumatic (or as Benson says; “Steam-driven”) system had two controller gauges and I believe a real-time cabin pressure altitude gauge and I also believe it had a rate indicator gauge as well as a manual (and auto) rate controller. I’ll let you know what I find out. Sluggo_Monster Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  23. georger, Jerry T, & Jo, You guy nausiate me nauseaate nuaseate me Oh hell.... You are making me want to barf. Why don’t you two take this Jerry Springer style melodrama to personal e-mail. Jo, It’s another 3-digit (temperature) day in the panhandle. Go take food and water to the homeless. georger, Go to “My profile”, select “edit”, find the box marked “Block Private Messages from these Users: (one user per line)” and be done with it. Is there anyone left here that gives a shit about NORJAK? Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  24. georger, Please chill! Jo cannot hurt you with her words. She has no power over you (and neither does Jerry T). The only power they have is what you give them. If you let them (and their spiteful battle) pull your strings, they win. As I have expressed to you privately, regardless of our differences, I RESPECT YOU and YOUR INTELLECT. This forum needs you! My advice: Crawl up on the keel, right the boat, climb in, get under sail, and put as much distance between you and the “Jerry Springer” show as possible. Sluggo_Monster (still trying to focus on NORJAK) PS: Your advice Re: my web-site, is well-taken. It will be after this job assignment is over (09/30/09) before I can take action. I will re-organize it. It started small, and the organization served well, but my baby ate NORJAK facts until it grew into an awkward teen. I’ll help it become a polished adult. PPS: Guru312, good to see you post again. You must not be working hard enough! Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
  25. ***At the end of the day, she's just an old woman with a lot of questions and a drive to try to get answers that I only hope I can mirror to a tenth, when I reach her place in life. Step back and get some perspective...you guys are doing things on a case from the stone age and from what I can tell, opening new avenues of insight almost daily. Jo started the quest with a simple question regarding the possibility of anyone in the skydiving community having seen, met, heard of, jumped with her late husband. She got the ball rolling...where it goes from there is more up to you few hardcore posters than anyone else. Sure static distracts, smile nod and keep surfing! *** Ditto! Web Page Blog NORJAK Forum
